My art isn’t a necessity, or ground breaking…but, I think it would be a pleasant surprise to walk up on an unexpected chalk art piece…especially when riding the bus in 90-100 degree weather…feeling anything but capable.I think the art means more when it is impermanent. The impermanence makes it more exclusive…but people are only excluded by not being at the right place at the right time. No one is excluded by wealth, religion, ethnicity, beliefs. I like creating where there are no walls and no private property.Affordability and accessibility are important.

Officer Epps was told to ticket me by Sgt Homero Martinez. That wasn’t the only supervisor involved though…Corporal Daniel Jaime was watching the body cam live and personally suggested citing me with criminal mischief. Officer Ivan Gonzalez showed up in person.This should have been the first and last time I was ticketed or arrested for chalk in San Antonio. Prior to this no city had ever ticketed or arrested me more than once. VIA Transit police ended up arresting me for chalk two days later. No lady officer has ever written me a ticket for sidewalk chalk.Protesters, children, and teachers all use the toy/art supply. Protesters of all political backgrounds utilize chalk. Children of all backgrounds, interests, and tax brackets play with chalk. Chalk is so incredibly affordable and accessible. It is so easy to erase. May11th Park Police Give 3 Graffiti Citations in Travis Park SATX Lakeythe Poet 2026-05-15 | On May 11th 2026 Ofc C Small of Park Police put me in cuffs over sidewalk chalk “graffiti” on an easement near Travis Park in San Antonio…Eventually I would be cited for Injury to Property, graffiti, and criminal mischief…it seems I received 3 citations either as retaliation from Sgt Isbell showing up, or as a way to threaten me with arrest. I was only released after agreeing to sign the citation…The past few citations they wrote me I refused to ID or sign because they couldn’t prove to me chalk is illegal.I was left alone the day before creating Mother’s Day art…I was also ticketed by the San Antonio Park Police 5/9, 4/30, 3/20, 3/13, 8/25, and 8/11I have spoke about it at city hall 20+ times and even have a petition with over 5k signatures…the city and the news ignore this.
