New York Post A fisherman in Singapore reeled in a bizarre 'alien' sea creature straight out of a science fiction movie.

When Ong Han Boon spotted his line going up and down at his favorite fishing spot on the island of Sentosa, the 54-year-old had a feeling he was about to snag himself something special for lunch, Central European News reports.

But when the sea dweller broke the surface, the fisherman was confused by the strange animal.

“When I pulled it out of the water, I was completely flummoxed by what I was looking at,” he told a local radio station. “I’ve had quite a few odd things come out of the ocean, but I have never seen anything like this before in my life. It had all these arms waving around.”

Twisting and curling its alien-like body, the creature looks like some sort of mutant starfish. Boon captured its bizarre and freakish movements in remarkable video, which he posted online in hopes that someone could identify the animal.

“I’ve asked all my friends and none of them know and all my Internet searches have not turned up anything that looks like this,” he said.

Even though our oceans cover a whopping 71 percent of the Earth’s surface, more than 95 percent of the underwater universe has yet to be explored, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

“So, if no one can’t identify it, then I guess I’m right,” Boon said. “It’s either an alien or I’ve discovered a new species of mutant sea creature, which would not surprise me with all the pollution they put in the water nowadays.”

Woman claims Charlotte Sena’s alleged kidnapper ‘tried to grab my grandson’ months ago

New York Post 2023-10-04 | A neighbor of the man who was arrested for the kidnapping of nine-year-old Charlotte Sena claimed he tried to snatch her grandson out of her front yard in July. NY Post reporter Kevin Sheehan shares this story.

Carol Brown, 61, told The Post that police showed her a photo of Craig Ross Jr., 46, who was arrested Monday for allegedly snatching Sena — and she immediately recognized him.

“I told the police that a man had tried to grab my grandson back in July. That’s when they showed me the pictures,” Brown told The Post. “I recognized him immediately, 100%. Immediately, I said that’s him.”

Brown claimed she and her grandson Braiden were doing yard work back in July when Ross appeared looming over the 10-year-old while she went out back to turn the spigot on for the hose.

“I heard the dog start freaking out, really freaking out, so I ran back around to see what was going on and there was a very scary-looking man standing over my grandson who was crouching down over the weed whacker,” she said. “He was standing over him, inches away.”

Deer Struggling in Rough Tide Returns to Shore With Help From Surfer #shorts

New York Post 2023-10-04 | A deer stuck on a rock in the ocean getting help from a surfer was not the scene a New Jersey photographer expected to witness when she headed down to Belmar Beach on October 1.

Adrienne Tully told Storyful that she was hoping to catch a beautiful sunrise that morning, but instead got to watch “a buck swim in the ocean then proceed to climb on the rocks twice.”

However, the animal’s adventurous spirit soon had him in trouble. “He was struggling as the incoming tide was rough that morning,” Tully said.

Tully’s video and photos from the scene showed there was a happy outcome, as the animal regained the shore safely, after “a little help from a surfer”.

Dad influencer, 40, dies of heart attack while playing with his kids

‘Apocalyptic’ bus crash in Italy kills at least 21 people, mostly tourists

New York Post 2023-10-04 | At least 21 people were killed and 18 injured when a bus carrying mainly international tourists fell off an overpass in a fiery, “apocalyptic” crash near Venice, Italy, Tuesday night.

The bus — which was en route to a campsite near the Marghera area — plowed through a barrier on the elevated street and plunged several feet onto an area near railroad tracks in Mestre, where it caught fire, according to officials.

“The people in the bus found themselves surrounded by flames,” said Mauro Luongo, commander of the Venice firefighters team. “The scene we found was terrible. It took about one hour to extract some of the bodies.”

Venice’s mayor, Luigi Brugnaro, called the horrific crash “an apocalyptic scene” and declared the city to be in mourning in a social media post.

WATCH: NYPD Officers Rescue Woman Trapped Under Brooklyn Pier

New York Post 2023-10-04 | Officers with the New York City Police Department (NYPD) rescued a woman who had gotten trapped under a pier in Brooklyn on the morning of Tuesday, October 3, the NYPD said.

Footage released by the police shows one of the officers holding on to the woman’s hand from the edge of the pier in the Red Hook neighborhood. Officers helped get the woman, age 20, onto a boat to complete the rescue, the footage shows.

The woman was hospitalized in stable condition, according to a Deputy Commissioner, Public Information spokesperson.

Police did not clarify how the woman got stuck under the pier.

College student freed from Dubai after receiving 1yr jail sentence for touching security guard’s arm

Elizabeth Polanco De Los Santos, a Lehman College student, is “ecstatic to be returning to the US after five months of anguish,” the advocacy group Detained in Dubai said in a statement on Tuesday.

The 21-year-old’s sentence was commuted a day after she was ordered to be jailed for the July incident in which she was accused of “assaulting and insulting” a female airport employee.

“Elizabeth boarded her flight home to New York late Tuesday night,” Detained in Dubai CEO Radha Stirling said in the release. “The news that her sentence would be commuted was a welcome end to Elizabeth’s hellish 5 months in Dubai that left her humiliated, traumatized, and out of pocket $50,000.”

The advocacy group then shared a message thread between the Bronx college student and Stirling.

Four students among five shot at Baltimore’s Morgan State University during homecoming week

New York Post 2023-10-04 | Four students were among five people shot at Morgan State University in Baltimore on Tuesday night during homecoming week, sending the school into lockdown for over two hours.

No arrests were made in the shooting on the campus of the historically black university in Maryland by early Wednesday — and police didn’t reveal if they believe more than one suspect opened fire.

Four males and one female between the ages of 18 and 22, all students at the college, were shot when the gunfire erupted around 9:25 p.m., according to police.

None of the injuries were life-threatening, police said.

Morgan State University police were patrolling the campus when they heard the gunfire and called Baltimore police for backup.

The campus cops located the victims and treated them at the scene before they were rushed to area hospitals.

Officers noticed multiple windows had been shattered by bullets and feared the shooter might have been ready to commit more violence.

The New York City congresswoman and her progressive posse are pushing to slam the “top 5%” of New Yorkers with a massive total $15 billion in state income-tax hikes that would hit households making just over $250,000 a year — well below millionaires’ row, an analysis says.

The eye-popping proposed tax increase comes as a new study released Tuesday by Upgraded Points found that New York suffered the largest exodus of wealthy millennials ages 26 to 45 who made more than $200,000 than any other state — a 4.6% reduction, or a net drain, of 27,101 prime-aged taxpaying earners.

That’s more than double the 2.3% loss of affluent millennials in California, according to 2021 tax returns. Among the largest states, Florida had the biggest influx of millennials, a 5.6% jump.

But AOC and the socialist left claim that taxing even lower to mid-six-figure earners is good for New York.

The biological parent of three and grandmother of six from Boston does it all, even in her seventies — emergency grocery shopping, cooking, and laundry. She’s even jumped on a plane in the wee hours to bail one of her youngsters out of a Miami jail, and has rushed to bedsides in New York emergency rooms.

However, Kumin isn’t the actual mother of the kids who she caters to in 9-1-1 binds. She’s simply their rent-a-mom.

“I’m a mom away from mom — a total support system for students,” Kumin, the founder of Concierge Service for Students (CSS), told The Post.

“We get kids in pre-boarding schools, boarding schools or college,” she said, “and we take care of their practical needs, medical needs, mental health needs and beyond.”

The momtrepreneur launched the concierge service in 1993, wanting to offer a helping hand to both U.S. and international students throughout the Northeast. The service comes with a price tag of $10,000 per academic year.

For their money, parents can depend on their away-from-home offspring receiving regular food deliveries, academic assistance, beauty and spa appointments bookings, aid in making dinner reservations and signing up for gym memberships, apartment hunting, furniture building, party planning, doctor referrals, summer storage, as well as banking and bill payment support — just to name a few.

Man accused of dousing McDonald’s manager with hot coffee in meltdown ‘over a penny’

New York Post 2023-10-03 | A Florida man has been arrested for allegedly splashing a McDonald’s manager with hot coffee after apparently flying into a rage over the cost of his breakfast order.

Elizar Ravelo, 64, turned himself in Monday and was booked into jail on a felony battery charge stemming from the August 25 java meltdown, which was caught on video.

Ravelo admitted during an interview with investigators that he was unhappy with the service at the McDonald’s on NW 36th Street in Miami Springs.

Christopher Wright, 38, was in downtown Chattanooga on Thursday night to meet up with fellow Baylor School alumni when he got into an argument with Darryl Roberts, a career criminal known as “Too Tall,” Chattanoogan.com reports.

Surveillance of the incident shows Wright, a father of three, including an 8-week-old baby, talking to Roberts, 57, and another man before walking away.

Iconic Pennsylvania mummy ‘Stoneman Willie’ to be buried after 128 years on display

New York Post 2023-10-03 | An alcoholic pickpocket — known affectionately as “Stoneman Willie” — who was accidentally mummified by a mortician trying out a new embalming technique will finally receive a proper burial after being on display at a Pennsylvania funeral home for 128 years.

The unidentified man died of kidney failure in a Reading jail on Nov. 19, 1895. Undertaker Theodore Auman tried to preserve the body of the deceased using arterial embalming – and his experiment ended up working a little too well.

For more than a century, “Stoneman Willie,” who has acquired a celebrity status in the area, has reposed at Auman’s Funeral Home.

“We don’t refer to him as a mummy. We refer to him as our friend Willie,” said Kyle Blankenbiller, funeral director. “He has just been become such an icon, such a storied part of not only Reading’s past but certainly its present.”

New York Post 2023-10-03 | A Staten Island man was arrested for shooting his neighbor during a feud over fireworks, law enforcement sources said Monday. NY Post reporter Reuven Fenton shares this story.

Dominick Giordano, 57, was allegedly set off by his neighbor’s habit of igniting fireworks on the residential block in Eltingville, authorities said.

The simmering tensions exploded around 12:15 a.m. Sunday when Giordano allegedly blasted the 41-year-old man in the torso on Pompey Avenue near Wilson Avenue, sources said.

Giordano initially pointed the gun at his neighbor’s forehead, Assistant District Attorney Thomas Reig said during Giordano’s arraignment in Richmond County Criminal Court Monday afternoon.

“When the victim went to retreat, the defendant discharged one round of ammunition from said gun that struck the victim in the back, causing a bullet wound, bleeding and substantial pain that required medical attention at a local hospital,” Reig said.

“It is noteworthy that the victim’s minor child and victim’s wife were outside the home during this incident,” he added.

New York Post 2023-10-03 | A raging motorcyclist stomped on the back windshield of a car carrying a mother, her girlfriend and her two kids on a Philadelphia street Sunday, according to footage of the confrontation.

The shocking moment, recorded by a tourist, shows the unidentified man riding a two-wheeler with a bunch of other motorcyclists, dirt bikers and ATV riders before he got off his bike and jumped on the car Sunday night near Philadelphia City Hall.

As the suspect — wearing a “You Ain’t No Killa” T-shirt — shattered the window, a gun fell from his pants, according to the video and authorities.

The driver, identified as 23-year-old mother Nikki Bullock by CBS Philadelphia, immediately got out of the car and confronted the suspect, who pointed the handgun at the woman’s face before quickly stuffing it back down his pants, according to the video.

New York Post 2023-10-03 | A bear on the prowl for food in South Lake Tahoe, California, fell asleep in a dumpster after it got locked inside the trash bin, a local wildlife expert said.

This video was recorded by bear advocate Toogee Sielsch on September 27 and shows the large animal slowly climbing out of the dumpster, as Sielsch loudly prompts it to go away.

Sielsch posted the footage to Instagram, where he wrote that his day started with a message “about a big fella that got locked in a dumpster.”

He said that, after making the exit accessible to the animal, he had to wake the bear to get him out.

“He was making the best of a bad situation by taking a nap,” Sielsch said.

Sielsch frequently captures videos and images of wildlife in the Lake Tahoe area and shares the footage on his Instagram account.

Chaos erupted after reports of gunfire in the late afternoon approaching peak shopping hours at the Siam Paragon mall, among the city’s most popular shopping and leisure venues and a draw for foreign tourists.

Police said a 14-year-old suspected of being the gunman had been arrested and was being questioned.

Emergency services shared an image of a police officer apprehending and handcuffing an individual lying face down on the ground and another of an officer retrieving a handgun from the floor.

Hundreds of people, including children, were earlier seen pouring out of the mall in Bangkok’s commercial heart into torrential rain, according to videos on social media verified by Reuters.

A fan was denied entry into Citizens Bank Park on Wednesday night when he attempted to get in with an emotional support alligator, according to multiple reports.

The fan, identified by the Philadelphia Inquirer as Joie Henney, has the alligator — named Wally — to help him in his battle with depression.

New York Post 2023-10-03 | Donald Trump arrived in court Tuesday morning for the second day of a $250 million civil fraud trial against him, two of his sons and their family business.

Cameras could be seen flashing through the crack in the courtroom door as the former president arrived just after 10 a.m.

Wearing a red tie, white shirt and blue suit, Trump walked past New York Attorney General Letitia James, who is sitting in the front row.

His second son, Eric Trump, mouthed a "Good morning" in the direction of James as he followed his father into the courtroom and took a seat in the first row.

Hunter Biden appears in court on federal gun charges

New York Post 2023-10-03 | First son Hunter Biden arrived Tuesday morning at a Delaware federal courthouse, where he’s expected to plead not guilty to weapons and false statement charges after a plea deal collapsed over the summer.

The 53-year-old, who walked into the Wilmington federal courthouse shortly before 10 a.m. to face Magistrate Judge Christopher Burke has been charged by special counsel David Weiss with lying about being addicted to crack cocaine when he bought a gun nearly five years ago.

The felony charges carry a top sentence of 25 years in prison, though that severe penalty would be unlikely to be handed down to the non-violent, first-time offender.

Homecoming queen candidate dies after collapsing on field at game

New York Post 2023-10-03 | The 17-year-old daughter of an Ohio high school athletic director collapsed on the football field and died during pregame festivities — where she was introduced as a homecoming queen candidate.

Breanne McKean, a senior at Mapleton High School in Ashland, died Friday of an undisclosed “medical emergency,” Mapleton Local Schools announced Saturday.

The school’s athletic director, Tim McKean, told News 5 Cleveland that his daughter died at Ashland Hospital after collapsing on the field, where the Mounties were set to play South Central.

Breanne touched many lives and “was everything to us,” her grieving dad told the outlet, adding that she lettered in several sports, including volleyball, basketball and softball.

Mapleton head coach Matt Stafford and South Central head coach Derek Fisher decided to suspend the game after they heard at halftime that Breanne had died, the Ashland Source reported.

Matt Gaetz files motion to oust Kevin McCarthy as House speaker as pair spar over social media

New York Post 2023-10-03 | Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) on Monday filed a long-expected motion to vacate against House Speaker Kevin McCarthy that if successful will strip the California Republican of his speakership.

“Pursuant to clause two A1 of Rule nine, I rise to give notice of my intent to raise a question of the privileges of the House,” Gaetz said on the House floor.

When asked to state the form of his resolution, Gaetz responded, “Declaring the office of Speaker of the House of Representatives to be vacant, resolved that the Office of Speaker of the House of Representatives is hereby declared to be vacant.”

“Bring it on,” McCarthy tweeted, shortly after Gaetz filed his motion, echoing language he used over the weekend when asked about the possibility of his gavel being taken.

House leadership has two days to bring Gaetz’s motion up for a vote, which will require a simple majority to pass.

9-year-old girl feared abducted, found alive as cops bust suspect who left note at family’s home

New York Post 2023-10-03 | The 9-year-old girl who vanished from an upstate New York park was found hiding in the cabinet of a camper on Monday after the man accused of kidnapping her left a ransom note bearing his fingerprints at her parents’ home, officials said.

Charlotte Sena is “in good health” after she went missing during a bike ride while camping with her family at Moreau Lake State Park on Saturday, NY State Police said.

The suspect, identified as 47-year-old Craig Ross Jr., allegedly left a note at Charlotte’s family’s home — possibly demanding some type of ransom in connection to her alleged abduction.

Gov. Kathy Hochul told CNN host Anderson Cooper on Monday night that investigators were able to track down the suspect through fingerprints left on the ransom note.

“There was a ransom note and that was instrumental in leading us directly to the suspect,” Hochul said. “His fingerprint was already in the database.”
