Happy Friday! Another great piece by Evan Call, with a light melody that jumps and soars up around the keys. And with something that's unusual for my arrangements; lengthy sections without the sustain pedal. The beauty of having no sustain or staccato is that you can create even more of a contrast when the pedal does kick in. As always, it can't hold a candle to Call's original piano performance, but I hope you will enjoy it for the tutorial purposes at the very least :)

As fantastic of a show that Frieren is, I have to say that my favourite thing about it is this. The ending song. "Anytime Anywhere" by milet started out as great, but it grew on me as the show went on, and it kept tugging at my heartstrings. The build up throughout the song, the great use of both English and Japanese woven together, and the fantastic conclusion...I love it!

Personally, I prefer the second ending version of this song (played during the second half of season 1). That version has variations that are not included in the full version that's released on streaming services. For example, the way that 2:20 is played with the trumpets coming in underneath as a powerful amplifier, it's *chef's kiss*. That's why this arrangement is a combination of the two versions we hear in the show, as opposed to the single version. Both shorter and better imo. What do you think?

This theme is fantastic! A lot of work to arrange, sure, but definitely worth it. It has the both the epic and the adventurous feel to it, as well as some of that folky or celtic vibe. Honestly I'm exhausted from this piece so I don't know what else there is to say, but please let me know what you like and/or dislike about it :) Excited to see Frieren return for season 2 (hopefully next year?).

A jolly and instantly memorable theme! I really wanted to arrange this for two hands but because of the way the bassline works with the chords, I found it to be impossible without sacrificing the quality of the arrangement. So in a fun twist, this one is for three hands! Of course, you can modify it slightly to fit two if you want, but it's not completely optimal. But I'm very happy with the piece, I think I managed to perfectly transcribe from the original. It fills me with fond memories from first discovering this game.

This vibrant and fast theme was a challenge to put to the keyboard, and to play. The bassline is so alive! And the right hand has flurries and harmonies in a bundle. But I think it all comes together to create a great, fresh sound.

Summer in Stardew Valley reminds me of fresh corn, tomatoes, berries, melons...yum!

Just five days remaining! Who else is excited for the TTYD remake? This game and its soundtrack are extremely nostalgic for me, so I knew that I had to do at least one cover. There's something special about booting up this game and hearing this intro, then followed by the catchy, upbeat title screen. It's just magical. What an outstanding game.

This track doesn't perfectly fit onto solo piano, but even so, I feel that it sounds pretty good and that it works as an arrangement. I tried my best to convey the gentle nature of the melody, and the slow build into the climactic section. Let me know what you think :)

This video marks the return of my cam videos after a hiatus. I hate camera work with a passion, it's always a drag to set it up. That, and to get everything in one perfect take. Technically I could do it "music video" style and just sync to playback, or use some transitions to "cheat" and save myself from the headache. But ideally, at least with short pieces, I try to do it as "live" as possible. We're currently moving apartments and I'm considering buying a new piano so there's a lot happening, but I want to do at least a few cam vids here and there. With cam feed, I love that people can check fingerings or see how I do this and that with a piece. And it's just a nice feeling to perform on camera. Hopefully you guys like it as well, let me know!

Yet another gorgeous piece from Yukari Hashimoto. Originally titled "二人の距離はどれくらい？", also translated as "How Far Apart Are They?" or "How Close Are You Two?" is a slower and more emotional version of the main theme that's found in "To My First Friend". This is a straightforward 1-1 arrangement, following the fluid tempo of the original. I hope you like my performance of it!

I absolutely adore this ED! It's soothing for the soul, and I love to sing along. One of my all time favourites, no doubt.

I wanted to cover it for a while, but it took a lot of time to put together. I might have done too much honestly, since it is both the full version and quite challenging. The fingerspan is quite brutal at times, so in the sheet music I've simply stated that you'll either have to roll it (arpeggiate), or simply omit the top note. I want to go back at a later stage and create a shorter version, so it's easier to learn.

For now though, what do you think to this one? I worked hard to make it both faithful and to sound "full", hopefully I succeeded. My main worry is that some of that soothing and easygoing feeling from the original disappeared along the way. But overall I'm happy with it :)

Spring! A beautiful season and a beautiful theme to go with it. This is perhaps the most iconic of the seasonal themes, since it's the first one that plays in the game. It's upbeat, happy, and uplifting.

In this arrangement I made sure not to make it too complex and to maintain the simplicity of the original, but there is plenty challenge in the bassline and the "solo" towards the end. If you find it too challenging, you can always remove a few parts, or try one of the slower seasonal themes instead (Like Fall or Winter).

Overall I worked quite hard on this one, and I'm happy with the result! What do you think of my version?

Frieren has been heavily requested during this season on the channel, and you have been so supportive of the two covers I've done already, so I appreciate it! Here is a token of that appreciation, my arrangement of the iconic and massively popular "Zoltraak"! In the spirit of the spell itself, I kept it simple, only relying on the main melody and the chords in the song to build the parts. I put all of it together in a day, so all that considered, I'm proud of it.

I'm sure I could've put together a complex and extraordinary version with more time and effort (akin to my YouSeeBIGGIRL cover for instance), but I'm behind on posting videos, and with this arrangement I think it's doable for high leveled intermediate players. If you still find it too challenging, remember that there's no shame in playing at a lower tempo!

Frieren's journey with us is over for now, but I'm looking forward to a season 2 :) I will do a few more Frieren covers, hope you will check them out!

It is now more accurate to the original, and sounds better in my opinion. It has a bit more of a complex bassline, and more harmonies included in the right hand.

As I mentioned in the last video, "Frieren" music has been heavily requested on my Patreon, so that's one of the reasons I wanted to start arranging these. Another reason is that they're beautiful pieces of music of course!

"Time Flows Ever Onward" plays several times during the series, and it's a staple at this point I'd say. It has this relaxing vibe that slowly builds up into something greater. Love this piece! My arrangement is extremely faithful to the original in terms of tempo, melody and chords. Naturally, I did change the registers and instrumentation a bit. Originally the bass chords are played arpeggiated, but I think it works better (and is much easier) as simple chords, so the player can focus on the jumps, and on perfecting the right hand. What do you think?

"Frieren" music has been heavily requested on my Patreon, and it is of course the most popular anime at the moment. With all that considered, it was time for me to start arranging these beauties!

The score for Frieren is composed by Evan Call, I arranged several of his Violet Evergarden tracks last year. He does not disappoint as usual, and there are already some fantastic tracks in his pre-release of the Frieren soundtrack. I'm happy to present my own arrangement of this one, "One Last Adventure", which plays during the fireworks scene in the first episode. It's such an important scene that sets the stage for Frieren's emotional state throughout the entire series, so I wanted to do it justice.

Just as me previous "Call of Silence" and "Omake-pfadlib" covers, this is a 1-1 transcription of one of Sawano's beautiful AoT piano pieces. This one in particular, is the second half of the track "vc-pf20130218", and it's a rendition of "The Reluctant Heroes" for solo piano.

I felt better about the tempo for this one than the previous two, so hopefully it sounds great! In terms of the notes I am confident as usual that I got it more or less 100% correct. Let me know what you think :)

I finally got to see this brand new Ghibli movie last year! While I don't feel it lives up to my favourite Ghibli movies, I do think that it is a beautiful movie and the soundtrack is no different.

There are three versions of "Ask Me Why" on the soundtrack, and this arrangement fuses the second and third versions. They are identical apart from a few key differences: Version 2 (Mother's Message) has a different ending that I prefer, and version 3 (Mahito's commitment) has an expanded main section. That's why this version takes both into account, and creates the best piano version in my opinion. Otherwise, it's a 1-1 transcription. What do you think of the result?

I already released my Silent Voice album, but I got a commission to do this track for a project and I like the original so why not? "Speed of Youth" is originally a techno track and not adaptable to piano, but I did my best. I carry the main melodies through the track with some variations, and I build them up to a soft climax that emulates the whimsy electricity of the original.

This track reminds me of simpler times, and the sweet innocence of youth. It also makes me want to return to the Japanese countryside, maybe one day I can go to Ogaki (where the movie is set) and listen to this track while walking the fields...

Phew! This piece took a good chunk of my life force. I rarely do full band styled covers and this piece is six minutes long! In comparison, I could easily do five of my regular solo piano arrangements in that time. But it's all worth it! For this version of the song, I had the pleasure of working with @gratia6564 and her amazing vocals, and with my buddy @jmabate who gave me excellent drums, lead guitar and strings. Special shout-out to gratia who met me and my friends while we were visiting Tokyo and showed us around in Minato! She took time out of her schedule to make sure we had a pleasant stay, so I'm extremely grateful :)

Although it was quite challenging to find all of the right balances in this track, it was tons of fun! We had a simple and clean setup for this song: The piano, bass and drums act as the foundation, and the solo violin and electric guitar are sprinkled on top on the left and right side respectively, to complete the instrumental. Finally, the vocals are added on top as a sweet blessing for the ears. It's very reminiscent of the original, but we can't afford a full string orchestra of course, and in general it's a bit stripped down to be more akin to a simple, live band performance.

This song is one of my favorites from the Suzume soundtrack, so I knew that I had to do it justice. How do you think we did? Let me know in the comments! And be sure to check out the full album to also hear the piano solo version, and the English version.

After 10 years, Attack on Titan has finally come to an end. And what a glorious run it was! This anime meant a lot to me, and while I am sad to see it go, I am so grateful that MAPPA and everyone who worked on it managed to stick the landing. Regardless of how you feel about the actual ending, the production was outstanding! End of an era.

While I am working on a number of new covers, for now I hope you will enjoy this remaster of the legendary "YouSeeBIGGIRL/T:T"! This cover is mostly based on the version that plays during the season 2 episode where it all goes down, with the exception of the first two sections that I decided I wanted to include. But of course, for those familiar with the soundtrack you will recognize "Apple Seed" and "Vogel Im Käfig" from the melodies.

Princess Mononoke, a true classic! And perhaps my favourite Ghibli movie. I did "The Legend of Ashitaka" a few years back, and I wanted to do more. "Journey to the West" is a beautiful piece that plays as our hero begins his journey, and features a repeated motif with various instrumentation and dynamics. That's why it's a a bit of a challenge to make it interesting enough on piano by itself, but I think I did an ok job! Please let me know how you feel about it.

Oh, and I do love how part of the main theme (Heard in the "Princess Mononoke" theme song) is interwoven into this melody!

The original "Sky Over Tokyo" is a beautiful and popular vox focused track from the score. My Suzume album was already getting quite packed, but I love working with gratia and since we had only done one track with her on the album, I thought it would be fun to do one more track. One that could display all the qualities of her beautiful voice. And I think we achieved that! Compared to the original, our version has a bit slower tempo and a much more human sounding voice, more akin to a live performance. I'm quite happy with it, and she did a wonderful job performing the piece. How about it, what do you think?

I already released my Silent Voice album, but this track is quite popular on the soundtrack and I got a commission to do it for a project. That's why I decided to go ahead and create my take of "slt", for solo piano. This track is without a doubt the most dramatic one in the movie, and one that perfectly conveys the emotions of the scene.

Originally I believe the piano part is played more as staccato, and then the sweeping strings come in on top with legato. Of course it's difficult to emulate that exact effect for solo piano, so I decided to go all in on the pedal as I normally do, while sprinkling in a little bit of staccato here and there. You can play it fully staccato as well, but I think the climactic section really loses its impact if there's no true legato in the melody. The third way would be to start with staccato and switch to full pedal at some point (this is the approach I tried first). It's a cool way to play it, but I prefer it to be more consistent across the arrangement personally. What do you think?
