TouvalJust for fun. I don't know if this is known, or if there's another way to get in without Yoshi, but at the very least this video serves to let my subscribers know that I'm not dead.
edit3: I feel like the clip might be angle-based too, so a super ground pound might not be the requirement (when I was trying with regular GP I was facing towards the island).
I think the box challenge timer glitch is required for this to work, but I don't know why. I'm also not sure if you need a super ground pound, since I've been able to clip into the main beach with a regular one, but I wasn't able to do the same for the island. It's also pretty hard.

For some reason the box game guy's text changes to what he says when you first speak to him, but it's incomplete and I can't skip it. The only thing I can do is spray and press L. The X never respawns. I did go afk the first time I did this and came back to Mario sleeping and a frozen game, but I tried to replicate the freeze and couldn't. Maybe I didn't wait long enough, or maybe it was an emulator issue.
2nd clip: I press A to skip the text box right before the X has been cleaned. I regain control of Mario with the timer on screen still at 00:00. Nothing noteworthy otherwise.
3rd clip: I skip the text box a little earlier than in the second clip. Time still shows on screen but says 30:00. Like the second clip, there's also nothing noteworthy about this.
In case you're wondering, I tried spraying the polluted piranha in a similar fashion but it doesn't take damage if text is open.
I also tried spawning the shine gate shine, which I couldn't do without having a moon jump cheat active and spraying it from a distance just before landing. Nothing interesting happened; the text box opened, the cutscene played, and after I was still able to skip the text box and continue as normal. I wouldn't be surprised if this was possible without cheating, but for some reason I couldn't warp up to the platform that would have allowed me to spray the shine gate. I'm not sure if the moon jump method would have exactly the same result as doing it properly.Super Mario Sunshine: Entering a level with a text box openTouval2017-10-21 | Underwhelming, but this took FAR too long for me to not bother uploading. Would save roughly 40 seconds in an any% run as it bypasses the need to rescue Delbin and enter and finish Gnorc Cove, but it's still a stupidly hard trick to go for at very end of a run.

All it really required was a quick waterfall proxy and a half-decent run up to that point, but that certainly proved to be more than small task. Happy to get a 9:xx, and I sincerely doubt I'll return to this unless some easier way to get into Ripto is found.Spyro 2: Riptos Rage any% speedrun in 10:37Touval2014-03-25 | Pretty pleased with this run. It's not the greatest time (sub 10 is both possible and inevitable), but it is the current world record and the first run under 11 minutes.
I recommend watching all of it, but if you don't have the time or whatever, then at least watch the run from 9 minutes onward, as there's a pretty insane skip (found by ESGPuppetmaster, who also did a lot of work towards the setup, so shoutouts to him) that lets you enter the final boss without needing swim. This saves a lot of time as you obviously don't have to go out of your way to collect gems and there's no need to backtrack to Moneybags to buy swim. The only downside is that it's one of the most precise and hardest tricks to pull off in Spyro games in general.Spyro the Dragon: How to get onto the mountains surrounding Town SquareTouval2014-03-23 | Someone asked me how I got the location I'm standing at in my offline picture on twitch.tv (http://www.twitch.tv/touval), so I made a video.
Figured I'd make it public for easy showing in case anyone else had the same question.
It's fairly difficult to get the last couple of damage boosts, and it's clear that I used save states to make it easier, but with enough patience it shouldn't take too long to do this without save stating (i.e. on console). Make sure the glide onto the mountain from the rooftop is a high one, as there's an invisible barrier than Spyro is barely able to make it over. Also try aiming the glide where I do, as it seems the barrier is further back/possibly higher to the left, and it's hard to get anywhere if you glide to the right.Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly any% speedrun in 1:09.43Touval2014-03-22 | Timed from gain of control of Spyro to control loss. This run uses a new skip I found which uses Spyro's headbash to slip through a seam to access Ripto very, very early. This skip saves almost 50 seconds over the old method of abusing lag to bypass a gate before performing the swim in air glitch to swim into Ripto's lair.Gelato Beach skipTouval2014-02-21 | Sorry for lack of sound, emulator issues :s
This skip can be done from the front side of the roof too (and I imagine every other side). Only reason I'm doing it from the left side in this video is because I tried the front side first and had no luck, but I must have just had a bad setup or something.
Also, it's probably possible to do this without first putting a coconut in the blender to shoot out the blue coin, but I'll leave it to other people to find ways to make this faster and more consistent :)Spyro the Dragon any% speedrun in 40:25Touval2014-02-15 | Nice run, just a shame all time loss was plain stupid: supercharge got cut going from High Caves to Wizard Peak, costing me around 6 seconds and a 25 gem; plane on Crystal Flight was shielded from my flame by a different plane falling, costing me 6 seconds; rescued dragon in Jacques accidentally, costing me 7 seconds.

Run with live 'commentary' here: http://www.twitch.tv/touval/c/3670001Spyro the Dragon 120% speedrun in 1:31:14Touval2013-12-20 | If you're looking at the title and wondering how this run saves around two and a half minutes over my other most recently uploaded run, it's because this run utilises a fairly recently discovered trick which allows you to skip the entire set of first credits, cutting off almost 3 minutes from the run. Getting this skip very quickly this run as well playing, for the most part, solidly everywhere else let me get this time which I'm pretty damn pleased with!
Playing against 1:33:35 splits, which was a run I got not too long before this which used credits skip but I didn't upload it because it was an awful run, lol.
Also, I do apologise for the low game sound and constant whining from my mic. I didn't realise the game volume was so low, and I haven't found a way to reduce or get rid of the whistling noise, sorry!Alternative credits skip methodTouval2013-12-06 | For the flame to hit, you have to hold back as you're just going under the floor (makes Spyro's flame spread out more, I think, or just lets Spyro's head stay above the floor so the flame is higher), then release back so Spyro speeds up while the flame is still spread out/high. Must drown in lava otherwise it doesn't work.Spyro 1 credits skipTouval2013-12-05 | It's been known for a while how to kill Gnasty Gnorc while not activating the credits, but it was never possible to collect all 4 pink gems with that method. This way lets you collect all 4 before falling to your death, meaning in a 120% run the credits can be completely skipped. This would save almost 3 minutes.

This route is still very experimental and definitely improvable, but I thought I'd upload this run as it had a pretty fast skip and the time is decent considering just how new the skip is (and it's pretty damn annoying, too).

Hard part is the jump from the home portal area to Maximos, credits to Stoneknot1 for telling me about that. I've had this route in mind for a long time but wrote it off because I wasn't aware of charge gliding which is very helpful in making the previously mentioned jump, and up until recently I did not know you could use vultures in such a way to damage boost (route I had in mind was pretty much the same but with a TAS-only wallglide from Maximos to the 3 metal chests). All that's required is an enemy which either uses an electric attack or causes spyro to do a backflip when hit, and an angled wall. To get the boost, you must charge and jump into said wall shortly before spyro gets hit, and with any luck you'll soar upwards.
