Did Taboo Conspiracy Disprove the Globe??? Bob the Science Guy 2023-08-06 | Once again our friend Taboo Conspiracy claims he disproves the globe with a mixture of bravado, arrogance and absolute ignorance of basic earth science and astronomy. This claim, based on star trails as seen from the cockpit of an airliner, uses star trails as a flight travels 2000 miles from Palma to Dakar.Once again, rather than disproving the globe, Taboo Conspiracy gives an outstanding demonstration of the rotating spherical earth. As the flight occurred at about 10,000m there would be a 3 degree dip to the horizon. The result is that all stars would appear 3 degrees higher than depicted in the stellarium views. This is NOT enough to bring the stars in question above the horizon from Palma. The fact they were above the horizon in Dakar was due to traveling over the curve of the earth closer to the S. Livestream- The Science Deniers and the Falcon Bob the Science Guy 2023-01-30 | Today we are going to go over the response to the Falcon Heavy launch on Jan 15,2023- which clearly demonstrates the curvature of the earth. As you recall, the launch was filmed from both the West Coast of Florida and Myrtle Beach, SC, as well as locally. By synching the videos, we were able to demonstrate a 36-40 second delay in the appearance of the rocket from West Florida, and 96 second delay from Myrtle Beach, which matches the predictions of the earth curve calculator for a spherical earth of radius 3959.This is devastating evidence for the flat earth, and it greatly upset them- leading to all sorts of ad hoc 'explanations' of why the data showed what it showed. Discovered a New Near Earth Asteroid? Bob the Science Guy 2023-01-18 | Today we go over some of the Asteroid work done at Shamrock Banks Observatory. In addition to learning about how asteroids are found and measured, we look at a potential unknown Near Earth Object that was detected and the preliminary calculations of the orbit. There is a chance it is an artifact, but I am of the opinion there is a good chance it is a discovery of a NEO.To help get further observations, here are the orbital measurements to put into the link below. That is the attitude of science denial, not because it is incomplete, but because it provides an excuse to ignore evidence.Key example. Gravity Exists, and it is the reason objects fall to the ground, it is why the Artemis Spacecraft accelerated all the way back from the moon without the use of rockets. Yet we don't know the exact cause of gravity, and we describe it using different approaches- Einstein is the most complete description we have currently, but in very specific conditions Newton's description is more practical and just as accurate. Talking to a Science Denier | Faulty Reasoning Bob the Science Guy 2022-12-29 | Science denial is not always a knowledge deficit, so you cannot 'fix' it simply by giving the correct information. A normal person, when presented with corrective information, will revise their opinion. Science denial works on a script, and evidence to the contrary is disregarded. Furthermore, even when they have the correct information, they don't 'connect the dots' and logically draw correct conclusions from the data they already present. Here we deal with a simple concept. A great circle is the shortest distance between two points on the surface of a sphere. The shortest distance between any two points on earth is a great circle distance with a radius of 3959 miles. ISS and the Doppler Shift- Part 1 Bob the Science Guy 2022-05-25 | We had a near overhead pass of the ISS on the 22nd of May. I used the signal from the Radio Repeater on the Station and Acquisition / Loss of Signal to calculate the altitude of the station, and time over distance as well as the doppler shift to calculate the speed of the station.Although this was a single measurement, no where near as accurate as a series of measurements would be, I am pleased to announce I verified the speed and altitude of the ISS within 10% of the stated values. It is clearly nearly 400 KM above the surface of the earth and moving at over 7 KM/Sec.To view the unedited (other than trimming both ends of the recording) pass of the ISS, see youtu.be/t6ir216FZDQ and do your own measurements if you wish.This speed was calculated as if the ISS passed directly over my antenna. It passed well South of me, as a result I have under calculated the speed. Monitoring Passes of the ISS Bob the Science Guy 2022-05-23 | The radio repeater frequency on the ISS is 427.8 MHz, I've tuned the SDR to that and we'll watch the ISS pass. Current location of the ISS is in the insert.As the ISS passes, you will be able to clearly see the doppler shift in the radio signal, it will be higher than the carrier (437.8 MHz) as it approaches, equal the carrier as it passes station (a line perpendicular to the path of the ISS passes through my location) and then it will drop below the carrier as it moves away.
