Ariel Square Four Special Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum 2022-12-07 | A video that will surely be appreciated by the Ariel Motorcycle aficionados amongst you!Here we are with a look at some of the various iterations of the iconic Square Four.The Square Four is a motorcycle produced by Ariel between 1931 and 1959, designed by Edward Turner, who devised the Square Four engine in 1928.At this time he was looking for work, showing drawings of his engine design to motorcycle manufacturers.The early engine with "two transverse crankshafts" was essentially a pair of 'across frame' OHC parallel twins joined by their geared central flywheels, with a four-cylinder block (or Monobloc) and single head.The idea for the engine was rejected by BSA, but adopted by Ariel. Sammys Restoration Delight! Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum 2024-05-24 | What's Miller so happy about?!Well, on the day of filming the sun was shining and Sammy thought it the perfect time to kickstart some of the recent restoration projects!First up was the 1930 OEC. This now completed restoration project represents the culmination of months of head-scratching and problem-solving by Sammy and Jim in the workshop ๐ Sammy couldn't wait to show you the other project nearing completion: the 1929 AKD (Abingdon King Dick). Despite some healthy scepticism from Jim, Sammy decided to try firing up its Swiss engine right on the bench... Have you ever seen a motorcycle like this? 1951 Turner By-Van Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum 2022-07-11 | In a time before Deliveroo drivers, there was...The 1951 Turner By-Van!This truly unique machine was one of the eccentricities of the motorcycle world and made its brief appearance in Brussels in 1946.Since modern problems always require modern solutions, Turner wanted to combine the fuel efficiency and simplicity of a motorbike with a delivery van.The machine was an oddity because it had front-wheel-drive using a 125cc Royal Enfield Flying Flea engine mounted on top of the pressed steel forks. The whole of the remainder of the machine was fully enclosed to form a large parcel holder with a saddle on top for the rider and a lid for access.Sadly, it was far too radical even for Europe, which was to have its fair share of oddities over the years, so no more was heard of it.Also featuring in this video is the 1913 Sun Motorcycle (nearing completion), as well as the 1898 Quadrant and a new project, a Yamaha FS1E!We hope you enjoy!

Tracking down Mary Drivers 1964 ISDT Greeves! (July 2021) Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum 2021-11-17 | Sammy recently was offered to buy a seemingly unremarkable Greeves motorcycle in a state of disrepair.Upon closer inspection, he realised it was none other than the 250 Greeves ridden by Mary Driver in the 1964 International Six Days Trial, held in Erfurt, East Germany!1964 was, of course, one of the most famous International Six Day events. It was the event where Steve McQueen notably represented the USA silver vase team, which drew much attention and acclaim to the sport.More information about the event has been compiled by the wonderful curators at Speed Track Tales: speedtracktales.com/index-of.../isdt-1964-e-germanyUnfortunately, punctures cost Mary a gold medal in the time-sensitive event. However, she was successful in a vast number of trials and scrambles throughout her storied career. Rickman Day 2021 with Henry Cole! Official Museum Extension Opening 22/07/2021 Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum 2021-08-02 | It's OFFICIAL! The new Museum extension was opened on 22/07/2021 by the Duke of Richmond.We were able to welcome some of UK motorcycling's most eminent personalities; Alan Cathcart, Frank Melling, Allen Millyard, Stuart Graham, Gordon Blakeway, Ron Langston and Don Rickman were all in attendance.The much-awaited Ariel team reunion also took place, with Ron, Gordon and Sammy able to sit astride the machines that they all rode in the 1958 International Six Days Trial. SM Restoration Files EPISODE 6: The Big Reveal Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum 2020-09-02 | Finally after 5 months, the restoration of the 1937 New Imperial 350 is complete!Some of you that have followed our restoration series may not be aware of its moving backstory.Back in March, motorcycle enthusiast Peter Turner gave some motorcycles to Sammy to restore after falling ill. He had always intended to restore them himself but unfortunately never had time do so.Sadly, Peter passed away before he could see the final transformation of the bike that he had owned for more than fifty years. However, he was able to watch some of the earlier videos in this series from hospital, which made him very happy to see Sam working to bring his beloved machine back to life.In this video, Sammy invited Peter's daughter Cherryl and husband Ron, down to the museum to see the bike fire up for the first time in over half a century.Thank you for watching our 1937 New Imperial restoration files!
