ScrewtapeStudiosThis is just 10 seconds of tv static with a vertical roll and some grading. Anyone is free to use it without crediting me. It was produced with WAX 2.0e; using their texture plug-in. Set the Octives to 10 and the persistance to 2 and you get grain. Then do a linear animation on the time variance attribute and bingo you have static.
The faded edges and horizontal lines were images that I made in Corel PainterX and overlayed on the video.
The veritcal scroll was achieved by rendering the video of the static. Then importing 2 instances of the static into the time line. Drop the Quick 3D plug-in on each instance and then animate them on the Y-Position.
Finally the sound was generated in Audacity (freeware)

Its a singing pumpkin patch doing the Legend of Sleepy Hollow a la Disney.Londons Calling All RiotersScrewtapeStudios2011-08-24 | A mash up of riot and Olympic promotional videos.Parent TrappedScrewtapeStudios2010-10-28 | I recently had twin boys, well my wife did that is. And I found it's quite easy to feel trapped with all the constant care, feeding and chours that are involved with babies, especially twins. Mind you all the work is quite rewarding. Anyways, I used that feeling to inspire this video. I hope you enjoy, its my first video with an actual story.REAL GHOST - Haunted Clown ToyScrewtapeStudios2010-10-16 | I was testing an old VHS-C camcorder I bought like 10 years ago. I wanted to see how it did in low light so I just taped some toys on the window sill in my kids bedroom. This is all the camera got. It went all nuts at the end.
This is an update on my projects and a short tutorial on how to fix COLOR SPILL in your green screen work. Basically, its all about lighting. For more details check out my blog. The link is above.
Hey, can you identify the location I used for my green screen back drop?
1. Printed a full scale image of a gun
2. I cut out that image and used it as a template to cut out three blanks from a spare peice of 1/4 inch wood paneling
3. I then screwed those together and shaped the edges with a sanding drum attachment on my Dremel
4. I sanded the ajoining surfaces to give them some tooth and glued all three peices together. (I did it in 3 peices instead of one solid peice so that it would be easier to add a moving trigger and hammer which I ended up ommitting for the lack of time.)
5. I then formed a barrel out of PVC
6. I carved the barrel cover and other details out of a sheet of dense pink foam insulation.
7. I glued those in place and coated them with two coats of epoxy and sanded them to shape.
8. The trigger and hammer are plastic wall hooks
9. The cylinder that holds the bullets is a cap from my shaving cream.Horror Transition: Sony Vegas Movie Studios Platinum 10ScrewtapeStudios2010-06-19 | ...Special FX Demo: Horror TransitionScrewtapeStudios2010-06-17 | Welcome to my first special effects demo.
My goal was to create a transition between my normal bathroom, which you see here and a "scary" version of it that which appeared to be dripping down the walls.
First I used Corel Painter x to map textures to the walls of the bathroom; add a slight blur and give a grain to the overall picture.
Then I wrote a short computer program to create the drip matte video. Note the two regions are in true green and true blue. This will be used later for chroma keying.
I then mapped that video to 3D objects that matched the angle of the bathroom walls in WAX 2.0. The original video was 720 x 480 so when its stretch to fit the perspective of the walls there quite a bit of pixelation. Ill have to fix that on my next try.
Next, I composited this matte with the scary image of the room and chromakeyed out the wall, keeping only the drips.
Finally, I took the resulting video and composited it with the image of the normal bathroom and chroma keyed out the blue. I also added a fade transition to smoothing things out a bit and I used the rotomate tool to mask out the mirror so that the drip effect would not run over that.Animation Scroll Test WAX 2.0ScrewtapeStudios2010-06-08 | I took this image from an old wood cut of a werewolf. I colored it, seperated it into different levels and animated it with WAX 2.0. I intend to use a series of these animations as the opening credits for a movie I'm thinking of making.
