The M LINE FACTORY offers a new type of modular machine architecture which offers an unprecedented level of automation and innovation, that allows economical series production on an industrial scale.
The basic idea is to physically decouple the machine units used for part production and for set-up and dismantling processes. These tasks can now be carried out in parallel and physically separately from one another thanks to the modular architecture.
As a result, current stoppage times for the machines, as a result of manual processes such as supplying or exhausting metal powder, are reduced to a minimum. This will deliver considerable time and cost savings.

Myth: ❓ Can aluminum be used for EBM (Electron Beam Melting) production ❓
Truth: Yes, you can process aluminum (Al) in the EBM vacuum environment. There are a few advantages to using this additive modality to process this material. Benefits include:
1. Reduced porosity of 3d printed parts
2. Reduced likelihood of cracking
3. Ability to produce complex shapes via metal additive process
Keep an eye out for foils that may build on the walls of your metal AM machine during aluminum processing. Cleaning this production byproduct should be a part of daily shift maintenance, along with adjusting parameters to reduce powder remelting.

Truth: In additive manufacturing, heat treat cycles are a very important process step for all production modalities. The way this is achieved, however, differs between EBM (Electron Beam Melting), DMLM Laser, and Binder Jet systems.

The DMLM process begins with a recoater spreading a thin layer of metal powder on the print bed. Next, the slice-file generated via our software lays down the scan paths that controls the exposure of the laser to create a cross-section of the object by completely melting metal particles. The print bed is then lowered so the process can be repeated to create the next object layer. After all layers are printed, the excess unmelted powder is brushed, blown or blasted away. The object typically requires little, if any, finishing.
