This video is about a custom, modern GUI for pulling waveforms off my Tektronix oscilloscopes with live FFT and one-click export into PulseView for protocol decoding. In this video, I walk through the app, explain what VISA actually is and why it's the right way to talk to test equipment instead of hand-rolling the communication yourself, and show the whole workflow end to end: capturing a signal, exporting it, and decoding it in PulseView.

This video is sponsored by PCBWay! Whether you need prototype PCBs or full assembly, PCBWay delivers high quality at a great price. Check them out at pcbway.com

Project is open source on GitHub: github.com/garnerm91/scope_app

What's covered:

A quick tour of the app — multi-channel capture, live waveform/FFT/jitter views, draggable measurement cursors
What VISA (Virtual Instrument Software Architecture) is, and why it's worth using over writing raw serial/USB communication yourself
Connecting to a real scope and capturing a signal
Exporting a multi-channel capture to CSV and importing it into PulseView
Setting up a logic threshold conversion and running a protocol decoder in PulseView
