By the time of her broadest extent under Emperor Hadrian (AD 117), Rome had spread her language and written laws to most of the peoples of Western Europe, thereby laying the foundation for Latin Christendom in the next centuries. How did she accomplish this, and what did it entail? After the "Fall of Rome," why did some provinces remain Latin and Christian (Gaul, Spain) while others did not (Britain, the German provinces)? Join Dr. John Pepino and the ICC to explore this critical period of Roman history.

Instructor:
Dr. John Pepino is a professor of Greek, Latin, History, and Patristics at Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary in Denton, Nebraska. His Master’s degree is in Classical Greek and Latin and his Doctorate is in the Fathers of the Church. He has published on the Fathers of Church and on contemporary Church History (particularly Vatican II and the liturgy in the twentieth century).
