Made from 2 different truncated tetrahedron units that are semisolid, with an extra internal layer for strength. The first one is made from 112 balls each, (decorated in yellow gold) and the second pointy version is made from 88 balls (decorated with rose gold). The two units were built with opposite polarity to each other so that they interlock very strongly.
Stage 1 is a golden core of 20 unit 1 truncated tetrahedrons, 2240 magnetic balls.
Stage 2 adds 20 of unit 2 around the outside to form a 20 pointed star, a total of 4000 magnetic balls.
Stage 3 adds 12 rings of 5 of unit 1, that is +60 units to form a dodecahedral mega ball of a total of 100 units and 10720 magnetic balls.
The geometry of this shape is actually only an approximation and not precisely correct as tetrahedrons do not geometrically form perfectly closed rings of 5 units - in fact they leave a small gap, but magnetic force closes the gaps so this shape still works nearly perfectly with physical magnets. Some small distortions were formed in the final structure, but you have to look closely to find them.
