Yes, that's right folks! The Illinois Central has many claims to fame, but I would like to share with you this story about the Civil War. A man by the name of Marvin Hughitt was the telegrapher, dispatching trains on the "needles eye" between Centralia and Cairo, Illinois.
In this video I read to you this great story that should NEVER be forgotten.
Over the course of history, the ICRR hauled numerous freed slaves to the north. In the 1960's it was still hauling many black folks due to the continued oppression in the south which the "confederate" states have had such a hard time letting go of their ignorance and hatred. To this day there is still a lot of racism from people who do not have the intelligence not to hate and that the bible belt should adhere to Jesus's sayings such as "Treat others the way you would want to be treated."
