Join us this Wednesday at 6:30 PM as we continue our study through the 1689 London Baptist Confession by examining the biblical doctrine of civil government.
What is the purpose of government? Where does its authority come from? What are its God-given limits? How should Christians think about submission, justice, and the relationship between Christ’s kingdom and the kingdoms of this world?
In this lesson we will examine:
• God’s ordination of civil government• The sovereignty of God over every earthly ruler• The purpose and limits of the civil magistrate• Romans 13, John 19, and other key biblical passages• Why the 1689 Baptist Confession differs from the Westminster Confession on the role of the magistrate in the church
Our goal is not to follow political trends, but to allow Scripture to shape our understanding of authority, government, and the Christian’s responsibility in society.
