The Mojave National Preserve only has a handful of paved roads into its interior and Cima Road is one of them. This is a great intro to what the Preserve has to offer.
This virtual video tour takes you from I-15, through a dense forest of Joshua trees and all types of desert vegetation typical of the Mojave Desert, past the geologic feature called Cima Dome, through the ghost town of Cima, and then over to the Death Valley Mine, with more spectacular desert vegetation and Joshua trees.
Sadly, just less than half of the vegetation seen on this road trip has since been destroyed by a fire in 2020. This tour will show you before and after pictures of that tragic event.
