In this series we continue to explore the warfighting capabilities of the Space Marine Chapters. While prior episodes focused on the Marines themselves, in this video we turn to their primary transport vehicle, the Thunderhawk. We begin with a review of the history of Space Marine dropships. In the years of the Great Crusade this included such vehicles as the mighty Stormbird which was capable of carrying hundreds of troops at a time. However the breakup of the Space Marine Legions and a need for more tactical deployments eventually led to a shift towards the Thunderhawk. It struck the right balance in terms of combat strength, cargo capacity, and perhaps most important, cost.
We then go over the full details of a Thunderhawk. This includes its propulsion systems, navigation, weapons, interior facilities, and crew. Finally we then detail the operational uses of the Thunderhawk for both orbital insertion and void combat.
