In July of 2024, in a case brought by the New Civil Liberties Alliance (NCLA), the Supreme Court overturned a 40-year-old legal precedent known as “Chevron deference,” which protected federal regulations from legal challenges. This landmark decision represents a dramatic shift in regulatory policy, and is a huge win for limiting federal overreach.
