Deltarune modder NERS dug deeper after I showed this off in a server and found out there's a piece of code for obj_moveheart (the heart that initially comes out of Kris when the enemy turn starts) which when spawning the actual playable soul gives it its own collision mask, which is a full box around the whole sprite. It's ONLY chapter 3 that does this, no other chapter overrides the playable soul's usual collision mask which is just supposed to be the red part of the soul. So weird lol
This level is unlike any other rated level even over 2 years since its release, and being someone who had a hand in this level's technical side (specifically working around the infamous long level desync bug), I have very fond memories of this level's development and how eventful and comical both the development and the post-release was for this level. Fun times.

The Fraud layer finally came out yesterday, it's sort of rough around the edges given the terrible performance issues for a lot of people and many out of bounds bugs (mainly in 8-2 and 8-3). There's certainly a LOT of fixing needing to be done after this update.
That being said, behind the jank and performance is some of the wildest stuff ULTRAKILL has seen yet and Fraud is now my favourite layer in the game.
P-Ranking this was very difficult and took me about na hour to do, there's two particular parts that are much more difficult than anything else:
- The double power room. While they generally take turns and only one of them attacks at a time, they may decide to overlap anyway for the first few attacks after enraging one of them and it becomes chaotic very fast if you don't know how to dodge a power's attacks.
- Red skull path deathcatcher room. Good god, this room is pure chaos. The arena is extremely difficult to navigate and keep track of while you have multiple virtues and multiple providences thrown. Trying to find the last few non-blood enemies in panic while getting relentlessly blasted by everything is absolutely terrifying.
Still, extremely fun. Best of luck to the devs on bugfixing and especially optimizing the layer!
(Also this was done before the tunnel attack got butchered so the description below might not apply as much anymore)

I absolutely LOVE the idea of a fight that's supposed to be unwinnable and yet you can push through the sheer overwhelming power of the enemy, and this right here fits that perfectly.
This fight tests a bunch of your abilities. It tests your ability to react quickly to how the attacks play out, how observant you are when looking for reliable strategies on the fly especially with some of the stronger attack variations, and also the occasional messed up RNG moments test your resilience if you want to survive the whole fight. You must give this fight your absolute all or you'll get blasted to hell.
That said, I don't recommend trying to no-hit this if you just want to learn the fight and be rewarded immediately. This little gremlin WILL kick your ass and it's up to you if you put the effort in to persist or not through an occasional cheap hit. That's just how it is.
Definetly one of my favourite fights across both UNDERTALE and DELTARUNE.
Very happy with how quickly I managed to get this done. Compared to the Vengeance route, it's definetly easier since there's far less encounters to go through, but still has a few spots you really need to watch out for.
Biggest roadblock besides Ceroba would be the Feisty Four thanks to the Coin Rain & Ace Cards combo attack which is hilariously difficult, though it is learnable to an extent and it's not as outright of a coin flip as Snowdin Martlet was in Vengeance and her exploding feathers. Other minor roadblocks include Guardener and Axis but they get consistent enough that it usually doesn't matter too much.
About Ceroba: Definetly the hardest part of the run. Phase 1 has a couple scary attacks, but in particular it's the Leaves attack, which can be extremely tight to dodge if you're unlucky enough. Phase 2 is by far the easiest, all the attacks are easily avoidable.
Phases 3 & 4 are where the main show is. You have to kind of setup yourself between mini attacks to account for potential attack combinations, sort of like how you have to deal with no-hitting Flowey in original Undertale, and it's actually really satisfying to play once you learn most of the setups. The big shots are actually EXTREMELY useful for clearing out specific attacks in a single shot despite their abysmal DPS, so make sure to use them if you want to go for a Ceroba no-hit yourself.
There are still a few particular combos that can get pretty scary, particularly the Fire Walls into Fire Lantern can get really messy, and further amplified if a black hole spawns. Black hole isn't an instant run ender and you can still juggle around most attack combos, but it definetly narrows down your options significantly. Makes Fire Walls so much harder to deal with, I'll tell you that much.
All that to say, the fact that I only choked Ceroba a single time from the start is really stupid but I'm not complaining :D
I'm not doing a neutral route no hit btw, no one has been able to no hit Flowey both parts in one go and there's a good reason behind it LMAO

As stupid as pulling off this challenge is, I'm honestly surprised that some experienced no-hitter hadn't done this challenge before because besides Snowdin (and the Dunes to an extent because of the dunebud XP grind), it's not as much of a drag as you'd expect!
It helps a lot that the boss battles are super fun to learn and practice, and while you do need some luck (with zenith martlet, but also with snowdin enemy encounters funny enough), the fights in this route are not nearly as luck based as some people make them out to be (I'm looking at you, past me...)
Two out of three of the hardest fights - Ceroba and Axis - are 100% consistent, and so is Zenith Martlet's second phase, with the first phase needing a small bit of luck to not roll the wing gust attack, which I had a 50% fail rate on after practicing it for literal hours. Still, the boss fights never got old, and it led to me overpracticing the absolute crap out of Zenith Martlet to the point I managed to do her fight first try on a full run!
That said, practicing fights to be able to no-hit them as consistently as possible is extremely difficult with what the game provides you with. If you want to give no-hitting this whole route a try, you will have to install a practice mod if you want to practice the fights as painlessly as possible (Axis's final attack made me realize that lmao). Being able to start/restart battles instantly, control which attacks the enemy uses next repeatedly and such are ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL tools for learning some of the fights efficiently. In my case, I had a separate UTY copy that I modded myself to include what I needed to learn and master the fights fast, but Keucher's practice mod used by speedrunners, despite being focused on speedrunning, should have most of what you need. This final run was done on vanilla UTY just to be safe though, since modding anything can break something that's seemingly completely unrelated.
If you want to use the practice mod I made, it is now publicly available for download:
gamebanana.com/mods/565932
I might make a guide on how to dodge all the enemies and bosses sometime soon, cuz there's some highly specific strats I made use of, but here's a few examples:
- Getting to LV 11 pre-Ceroba by going after Dunebuds (which give a LOT of XP) and skipping the super tough phase 2 black hole attack.
- Zenith phase 1 feather circle attack: Shooting out the inner feather ring by timing the soul shots. Since both rings have a medium-sized delay between shots but act independently of each other, eliminating most if not all of one of the rings means you can comfortably dash through the feather bursts without having to worry about multiple of them overlapping on each other.
The Snowdin and Dunes segment is pretty boring to watch so feel free to skip to the boss fights if you value your time.
Btw shoutouts to the enter key display I accidentally left highlighted oops LOL

(Save-editing was used to manually set my max HP to 1 so that I could retry immediately on the spot.)
I recently played through this game and it became my favourite free-to-play game dethroning Cave Story (go play this game if you haven't yet dlghsjkldhg), so I decided to give no-hits in this game a shot!
I decided to do this first for some reason. Whoops.
This fight is... strange, to say the least.
I'm a sucker for over-the-top fights like this and I had a pretty good time when playing through it on my initial genocide playthrough, but no-hitting it was a bit of a hassle, and I think it all comes down to a few particular attacks in the first phase that require a good amount of luck to get through:
First one is the circular feather spam attack (01:42), the feathers are shot at completely random intervals and if they're timed apart in an unfortunate manner, it's basically impossible to dodge while on dash cooldown unless you manage to squeeze into a gap between the tiny feather projectiles. Not to mention the big feathers themselves hurt you while on their path to the target marker which is a battle design flaw, as all of your focus is on the target markers and you can't divert any of your attention elsewhere, so you just have to pray the big feathers stay out of your way, and unfortunately you take hits like this far more than you'd expect.
The next one is basically a guaranteed run killer and doesn't happen on this run or other people's successful no-hits for a good reason: The notoriously dubbed "RANDOM BULLSHIT GO!" attack where your soul gets forced down to the bottom and starts throwing junk of various shapes and sizes at you. They have a really weird bounce on impact and often times they take up the entire screen when multiple objects drop at once. There is absolutely no pattern to it, this attack was seemingly coded to be purely RNG and I think it should have been severely toned down or scrapped completely because it's an atrocious attack, especially for no-hit attempts.
Thankfully the second phase has no luck-reliant bs and every attack can be learned somewhat smoothly, however there is one weird bug with the moving wall sections where if one of the gameplay borders move into you and you keep hugging the wall after that, the very instant a white tile collides into you the game thinks you're being crushed up against a wall and you will take a hit instead of being pushed away by the white tile like it's supposed to, so make sure to stay away from walls while they're resizing.
The star attack sucks if you try and shoot the stars so it's literally better if you just leave them alone and dodge around them. I actually got really lucky on this, for some strange reason when you collide with a star, the game waits for the next frame before it actually deals damage, so if you dash during this time window you get a really scuffed dodge out of it, which is what happened to me at 06:23 lol
Overall I enjoyed my time doing this, but I was pretty frustrated by the two really stupid attacks in phase 1 and I really wish that had been ironed out by pre-release playtesting. If you try to no-hit this yourself, be prepared to lose a bunch of runs without making any mistakes.

So about 3 weeks ago Eidam approached me with a random idea of making a level based off of Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes. Fast forward to now after having used up 1800 groups (oops) I've made a fully operational bomb with 5 modules featuring total randomization and I'm super proud of this beast of a level. I wish everyone who tries it out a lot of fun! :3c

(The version of the level shown in this video is also slightly outdated: The opening text contradicts the end, which has been since fixed via partial rewrite.)
I was holding off on releasing the video for this until April 1st and then proceeded to NOT remember to actually release the video on that day. Whoops LOL
Anyway this is the first time I made something for a mod jam event that the Gears for Breakfast community team runs every now and then and I wanted to finally give it a shot so I did! Right as I was releasing this I didn't feel too great about the level but I've grown fond of this level after a couple days. It was also fun watching the community team play through the thing on stream. As shitposty as this level is in some parts, I'm definetly gonna take part in more of this game's modding jam events. A very fun experience overall for me, and :3

Another hat mod after like half a year, this time on the more conventional side. Definetly had more fun building this than Playing with Fire since I'm wasn't just spending 98% of the time creating patterns and generally I knew more what I was doing this time.
Making such a monochrome level was a safe choice mainly because I know fuck all about how to work with different colors but I think visually it's not too bad. I don't want to talk about how much of a disaster the playing side of this level was before playtesting LMAO
Very proud of this level overall, and to those who want to try this out, hope you all enjoy it!!!

Alright, so I brewed this up in about 3 days and as it turns out, I have way, WAY more fun building decoration when I completely disregard any sort of quality standards, and I'm pretty confident now that the community pressure that paints this "need" for creators to "have" to build above-average levels is the reason I couldn't bring myself to step outside my gameplay specialization, so if anyone wants to shit on me for creating something that isn't "on par" I'll just tell them to piss off and mind their own business. That being said, I will be happy to hear what exactly could be improved and what I could watch out for when building. There's always new stuff to learn in this editor.
Personally I'm pretty happy with what I've made since I don't usually work with visuals in this game, I genuienly had a lot of fun building on this and I probably would have included more stuff in the background but all the movement already tanks the performance quite a bit so I just left it like this.
(Also yes, I built an orca, not an actual whale, that's intentional don't worry lol)

Wasn't a smooth cruise at all, first time I played this must have been over a year ago at this point and I gave up after several hundred deaths. I ended up coming back to this recently and finally got it done.
Most of this fight becomes somewhat consistent but there's a lot of unfair stuff that can hit you in this fight. Mainly talking about the spark orbs (their zap direction is fucking randomized unlike the beams which never zap sparks towards you) and light blue barrier beams overlapping into other attacks, and sometimes not even that will save you from RNJesus snapping your neck.
Only play this if you can tolerate a lot of bullshit or if you really want to go for a big challenge in this game but don't be like me and actually have self control please LOL
Surprise! I appareantly make mods for this game now? Woah...
This is the first creation in this game that I can look back on and geniuenly say "I like this", so I will be showing it off here on youtube as well.

MOD DESCRIPTION:
Ah, Everhood's Incinerator. The section of that game with the single worst achievement I have ever seen. Otherwise a cool concept that I've decided to recreate in A Hat in Time as a short little modded level!
If you haven't played Everhood, there is only one simple goal: To survive for the duration of the entire song (You're not expected to die here like in the OG game).
The song is about three and a half minutes long, so depending on how quickly you're able to learn the patterns, this mod can be completed anywhere between 5-15 minutes on your first time playing.
Thank you to the people in Hatcord for the occasional help, usually indirectly through already existing messages in #modding-help, but also with some things I had to ask about myself.
And that's all! Have fun!

I was going to try and buff the level to make it list worthy but I quickly realized there was no way to do that without making the level unnecessarily bad to play so I just buffed it up to what I thought could work (although maybe removing autos from the now super clicky drop wave corriders was a little questionable LOL).

A joke level I was supposed to verify literal years ago. This was a collab sequel to Antiqueside which never ended up seeing the light of day after I neglected verifying this, so this was more of a thing to tie loose ends for me.
Unlike Antiqueside, this level is very first half heavy, Kirky's and nora's part are easily the hardest parts and my part right after also has a couple dumb choke points. It's quite a bit easier than the predecessor overall though.

So uh, yeah. Beat a level that's infamously extremely learny. Most of it was bearable to learn however the wave near the start was not fun to figure out in the slightest.
Because of how the obstacles move based on your movement with a delay, it is incredibly difficult to figure out how to approach the part and there is very little clarity on what you screw up.
However, SOMEHOW, this level really pissed me off AFTER learning the whole thing. This level gets a lot of difficulty not from timings, but its gimmicky nature which takes VERY long to get used to.
The second half of the spider is just abysmal, and not because it's gimmicky, but because of a lack of visual cues in a lot of it. Basically, try and get good muscle memory for it and just pray that you happen to be clicking at the correct speed in the parts where you click 5-7 times in a consistent manner.
The last robot has some weird clicks but one that stands out is the one at 81% where you jump into several gravity portals, and it requires a very specific angle to pass, it's pretty awkward although not the biggest sinner.
Overall this level just has so many smaller issues that just collectively make this level dreadful to play. This level is interesting to watch, but the gameplay is just too complex to work well in a game like GD. I respect the creativity of this level, but I would not recommend actually playing it.

So yeah, I'm not sure why I decided to do this. It was painfully obvious that this game was absolutely not made with no damage runs in mind so while some levels - mainly boss levels - were pretty fun to do, levels like 1-3, 3-1, 5-1 were pretty sucky. 5-3 was BY FAR the worst one to do and I had an absolutely awful time with it.
This wasn't an unbearable challenge, but I don't recommend it if you don't have much patience, because you're gonna need to endure a LOT of bs.
A full game damageless in one go is theoretically possible but very improbable due to a large RNG factor, at least with my skill level (which is okay at best). It's going to be even less doable once Act III comes out and I expect that act to be way harder than Act II which was already a large step up in difficulty over Act I.

Finished as of today. Although this is easily the most tedious layout I've built, it is also my new favourite thing I've made. I hope you guys like it as much as I do :)
So this level was basically just one giant experiment to see how buildable this type of level is - one where the speed isn't really based on speed portals but it's constantly accelerating to the point of psychotic speeds by the end. My least favourite part was definetly building wave parts, I initially had a really buggy mess of triggers running the custom waves so that they move at the angle they're supposed to but later on I had to redo it and it ended up being a lot more functional in the end.
I was also forced to build the level in a super unorthodox way - You can't just build this kind of level in a straight line without leaving like 2 minutes of blank gameplay at the end, so I had to build in different segments and put them in place using move triggers. I still need to fix a couple things which might not be apparent on the showcase but this is more or less the final product.
Overall this was a very interesting challenge to do and I'm glad this isn't one my hundreds of unfinished levels. This might also end up being an actual level, so be on the lookout for that :D

Well, I gotta say, working on this level and verifying it was a unique experience. Merging the level was one hell of a task not only because of fixing broken colors or the game being not necessarily stable with saving these levels, but the player speed being inconsistent across different framerates far into the level meant some parts behave differently when you compare the individual part and the full level, but thankfully not much had to be fixed in that area.
Verifying this was weird. Since I spent 8.2k attempts just on playtesting the level while merging, I already had a lot of practice in most parts and I also changed a couple things, mostly annoying choke points that degrade the enjoyability of the level. Obviously the slightly over 500 attempts I spent actually verifying felt more like an equivalent to 2-3k on a regular 1-2 minute level.
You'd think this would make the level boring, however I actually found the level pretty darn fun! Almost every single part gets super consistent (I mean it kind of has to be for this kind of level to work lmao), and whenever I died very far, it didn't bother me as much as I expected. That being said, this is still a very, very learny level, so patience is required if you want to beat this level.
Thanks for letting me work on this @EidamGD. As tedious as this was to work on, this was overall a nice experience.

I didn't have many ideas this time around but I guess it is okay for what it is, so here you go.
By the way I'll be verifying this one. Verifying a 17 minute extreme demon is an incredibly scary thought but since I do want to beat Return 0 when it comes out this is actually gonna give me an idea of what it's like to play a massive endurance challenge of its kind.

The first is poor optimization, and I'm mainly talking about the ending part because on full detail I dropped to like 15-20 fps which is a game-breaking framerate, so sadly I had to turn on medium detail mode. Thankfully it only made significant changes to the ending part, so that was a relief.
The other issue is the transition at 79% is REALLY janky, even though this can be avoided by completely hugging the slope, you have to let go right after to not glitch out when the wave ends, but even if you're just a pixel away from the slope, you bug out and die, so there's a strange timing window you have to work with. It's weird, and I don't even know if my theory as to what's happening there is correct. (EDIT: Alright, so appareantly you're not even supposed to be able to slide on the slope and you're just supposed to time the release with the portal and avoid hitting the wall normally. Oops)
Honestly, those are the only 2 flaws I can think of. This level is amazing and was incredibly fun to beat. I hope to see this rated soon, and I can recommend it if you can deal with the earlier mentioned 79% jank. The balancing is first half heavy, with the beginning being the hardest part. The second half's difficulty mostly comes from the Tower segment (68%-79%).
For DL staff: This is not list worthy.

This also really put into perspective how bad it is to play on 60. Over a year ago I poured about 30k attempts into the level on native 60hz and my best runs on that were 62 and 61. I came back to the level properly yesterday after not having played the level for a long time seriously and got another 65, 66, 70 (x2 I think?), 71, 72, 76, 78, 86 and 89 that very same day. The hardest parts of this fight are either when you're fighting Artemis and Apollo on their own or when fighting all the mechs at once:
- You have Ares limiting in which direction you can go
- Thanatos most of the time will straight up prevent you from switching where you're going horizontally (Ngl I forgot if you can just shadow dash through it but too late to figure that out now lol)
- ...and Artemis and Apollo are already tough on their own and can easily screw you over when you try to go switch where you're going vertically, sometimes there isn't really anything you can do about it.
It took me absolute ages to figure out everything about this fight, and the fight just felt really inconsistent until about the last 10 tries, where it started feeling a little more doable after I figured out the best order to fight: Spawn Ares first, then focus down and kill the eyes after they appear, then focus down Ares and leave Thanatos for last.
This fight is slightly harder than Supreme Calamitas, although I'm not sure by how much after the update because of the 1hp revives being removed in 1.5, and I think this fight needs a couple of tweaks to make it a bit less frustrating (mainly that Artemis and Apollo are too fast right now), but I believe this doesn't need any huge reworks. This can definetly become a really good fight if they get the balancing right.
This level has a lot of comedy value, not very fun to play though especially with the second half being what it is LOL
If you want to beat this then have fun but keep in mind this is pretty damn hard.

However, and I'm gonna be totally honest here, I enjoyed this level WAY more than I thought I would. Despite the non-sensical balancing of the level, I actually really liked the gameplay itself for the most part, although there were some pretty sucky parts. I strongly believe this is the best top 10 in the game right now playability-wise, then again this is a very me kind of level too lol
I'm really glad I was able to finally finish this off. I often thought about this level during my countless breaks so it's really damn nice to have this done and concluded.
What's next? Well to be honest I really have no clue. I might stop playing extremes for a while, I might do some easier extremes, or I might try and find myself verifications. I never plan what I do GD, I just decide on the spot when I decide to do something. Not much will change for this youtube channel, since I just plant proof replays here and not much else, and I literally never upload consistently, not even close.
Thanks to the Snail Nation server as well as all the others who encouraged me to keep going. I can finally stop thinking about this level.

I usually don't like 1.9 styled levels too much but this one is actually good. The wave took so much longer to get the hang of than anything else in the level but in the end it didn't bother me too much. I fluked it from 67% which was a bit dumb but oh well lmao. I enjoyed this level a lot, and I'm glad it turned out great.
-- For the list team --
ORIGINAL: For when the level gets rated, I think this level is on par with dolos or harder, but I haven't beaten Dolos (I got 89% and gave up, don't have the recording anymore sadly). It's definetly harder than SubSonic though, that one I beat and can compare it to. I'm giving a range of 125-130 on the list.
EDIT 27.09.2021: Okay, so since I've beaten Furious Flames now, that level didn't feel that much harder to me than DMG CTRL, so I'm extending my difficulty range for DMG CTRL. 120-130 sounds like a good placement range to me!

This level was surprisingly really fun for me. There were some weird parts like Nico99 and Pennutoh especially, but this was a fun thing to beat.
I know a lot of people don't like how this level plays but I have kind of a soft spot for Pennutoh gameplay and I don't really tend to mind minor Pennutoh jank, so it kind of makes sense that I'd like this level.

15 people megacollab to build a dumb joke level. It turned out pretty good, I'd say.
I did have some comedic deaths. My worst fail was a 74 at the ufo thing, which was pretty unfortunate. I also had a 64, 60, and 55 x2. Oh well, atleast it's done now. There were some really annoying parts like the 33% straight fly because you randomly turn into dual briefly before it which just throws you off. But hey, it's all part of the Freedom69 experience!

Needless to say, this was incredibly difficult. My playtime on the save file went from 125h, when I got the second to last golden berry (8B), to nearly 183h. That's 58 hours in between, though 1-2 hours were probably spent on something else during that period. The main roadblocks are unsurprisingly Event Horizon and Determination, and the last few days those were basically the only subchapters I'd be dying at. Singular, Power Source and Remembered are easy for the most part and as beginning parts, they get a little boring which can make it hard to focus sometimes whenever you're stuck at those parts. Stubborness is relatively easy but I still died on this subchapter 3 times, 2 of which were on that really weird wallbounce at 14:41. Reconcilliation (& Farewell subchapter) I didn't die to at all which I'm happy about, since a death there would have been very annoying after having basically maximized my consistency on those parts. The golden room is pretty easy, but I did use debug mode to practice it because no way in hell am I gonna go into that shit blind LOL.
Overall I'm very happy to have this done, I think seeing Luqualizer upload his video gave me the push that I needed, so thanks for that. Also I wish GL to npesta on this tough challenge.
