It pains me to say that this level’s not that good. Believe me when I say I REALLY wanted to like it. I was so hyped when I saw the finished level because the deco and the song are phenomenal, so you can imagine my disappointment when I found out that the same couldn’t be said about the gameplay. Now, the core gameplay itself is not bad, but there are many specific spots which block consistency, and therefore hurt the whole level.
The biggest chokepoints are the 22 wave, 31, 65, 85, and 88. These spots are simply random difficulty spikes in gameplay and are the main thing that brings this level down. Other smaller chokepoints include 13, 18, 27-28, 57. Let me just say that 65 is one of the worst transitions I have ever seen in a level before. Position based blind transition, just why?
The thing with this level is that the pre drop hard carries its difficulty, and it’s extremely boring. The gameplay isn’t easy so it’s not like you can just turn off your brain for it. You actually have to concentrate every attempt only to get a try at a stupid chokepoint.
Even though this failed to be an enjoyable level, it did accomplish one thing: Making me want to play the actual game. I’ll be trying out Celeste pretty soon and it’s all thanks to this level :)
