Gemini X was a crucial part of NASA's journey to putting astronauts on the Moon for the first time. Commander John Young and Pilot Michael Collins were able to dock with their Agena Target Vehicle and use its engine to boost themselves to a higher orbit, and Collins performed an Extravehicular Activity in which he retrieved an experiment package from a different, dormant Agena. Gemini X is on loan to the Cosmosphere from the Smithsonian.
