This landmark legislation created National Parks, Sites of Special Scientific Interest, National Landscapes and National Nature Reserves ensuring access to nature for all. It laid the foundation for modern nature conservation and public access to beautiful, protected spaces.
Today, our protected landscapes contribute Ā£6 billion to the economy and support both nature and our health. But thereās still much to do.
We are committed to working towards the recovery of nature at scale. This includes protecting 30% of our land and sea by 2030, restoring habitats, and tackling the climate and biodiversity crises.
Together, we can ensure nature remains accessible, sustainable, and thriving for generations to come. š
