Europe, every passing day is getting crazy
And I’m thinking maybe, soon it’s going to explode
But this has been building for a long time
And four M.A.I.N. causes come to mind
That set us off on this road
Militarism, build a big navy
And through conscription, double the armies
Gotta be biggest, gotta have the best
New artillery
Austria, Italy, Germany, Triple Alliance
Things getting hot, the Triple Entente
Features France, and Russia, Great Britain, sides been decided
Can’t take much more
Looking to me like we’re headed for a World War
Seems like, everybody owns distant land
This imperialism
Is heightening old rivalries
The rise of industrialization causes this competition
For markets and colonies
Nationalism said your country’s best
And superior to all of the rest
If you don’t have one, well you must protest
‘Cause that shouldn’t be
Here comes Franz Ferdinand, Archduke of Austria-Hungary
To Sarajevo, he’s killed, oh no
Austria pins blame on Serbia and Germany
Let’s them know, if Russia attack, they got Austria’s back
Russia moves, Germany declares war, looks westward
It’s Schlieffen Plan, wants invasion
Into France, through Belgium, Great Britain
Will take no more
Of this therefore, it’s now World War!
