In Disney's live-action adaptation of the beloved Oscar-nominated animated adventure, Moana (Catherine Laga'aia) answers the Ocean's call and, for the first time, voyages beyond the reef of her island of Motunui with the infamous demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson) on an unforgettable journey to restore prosperity to her people.
Disney's Moana is directed by filmmaker Thomas Kail, director of the series "Up Here", "We Were the Lucky Ones", "Fosse/Verdon" previously, and also the filmed versions of the stage shows Grease Live! and Hamilton. The screenplay is written by Jared Bush and Dana Ledoux Miller; based on Disney's Moana animation screenplay by Jared Bush. It's produced by Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, Beau Flynn, Hiram Garcia and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
