In this video Dracula sneaks into the second Acolyte's business building, fights bosses, learns about his past, and then has a showdown with the Lord of the Dead.
Some thoughts and tips -
- The sneaking part at the beginning is not too difficult if you know how to manage it. I start by throwing a dagger at the far one to disrupt his walking pattern, making him pause, and then the guards will walk more in unison, making it easier, then using bats on the guard furthest from me, and when the closer one goes to investigate, running across to the other side of the room. Finally, get to the opening closest to the guard in front of the gate, use bats on him while the patrolling guards are walking away, and run close, mist through him, and pass to the next area and a checkpoint.
- For the laser room, you can't stay on any floor tile for more than a few seconds, or you'll get caught and shot with an arrow. For the high beams, I like to double jump and then swing the whip to delay my fall because of their slow scanning speed. For the lower beams, I just double jump over them. I got caught right at the end, but the game had mercy on me and let me go up in mist form.
- When the second Acolyte shocks you, walk away from him! If you don't, he grabs Dracula by the neck, talks smack, and then incinerates him. Game over.
- During the last part of the boss trio when its shooting wind blasts at you, dodge to the side with L2. I'm mentioning this because I forgot that you could do this, because Dracula was moving so slowly that I didn't think you could.
- There's a bunch of parts in this section where you have to put the Mirror of Fate back together. The pieces are different at the different sections, and I hope watching is helpful. Otherwise I looked up the solutions on GameFAQs to speed it up.
- There's a super long cutscene with Dracula remembering his past and what he has to do here. Despite what people say, it was not immediately obvious to me who Zobek's lieutenant was.
- I know that Zobek is a bad guy - the final Lord of Shadow from the first game - but given Death and Dracula's relationship in the main series, I don't necessarily like that you have to fight him here. Patrick Stewart's hammy voice acting during the battle is outstanding though.
- On the Xbox 360 version of this game in February 2014 when I was playing on Prince of Darkness, at the part when Zobek is surrounded by spinning blades and you have to mist through to get him, the game would crash when the cutscene started. Nothing I did would fix it, and I don't know if it ever got patched. That said, I was never able to finish the difficulty there. That said, I recorded the entirety of CV:LoS2 on PC before uploading any of it, just in case that glitch persisted. It didn't, and thankfully I was able to complete the game.
- Zobek blocks a LOT in this fight, so using the Chaos Claws hold square, tap square repeatedly combo works to break his guard easily.
- When Zobek summons his zombies, you have to use your Chaos projectiles on the gargoyles above you around the arena to stop them spawning. Silly me, I was trying to use the zombies to refill my health with the Void Sword, but they hit hard on Prince of Darkness, so it wasted some time. Sorry about that.
