In 1993 a retelling of the original Castlevania was released for the Sharp X68000 titled: Akumajo Dracula, which was exclusive only in Japan. Having never seen the Western Hemisphere, the game was eventually released in North America for the PlayStation in 2001 with a few enhancements, including a brand new Simon Belmont sprite, rebranded as: Castlevania Chronicles.
