The following video is footage of a the Carter Lee Band performing a set in front of a Best Buy Store on October 18th 2008.
How we got the gig was that Jake (Red Bandana) and I walked into the new music instrument section that Best Buy had just did a soft grand opening to. Jake and I started jamming, me on some electronic drums while Jake played guitar. The manager approached me and asked if we’d be interested in playing for their grand opening in a couple weeks. Jake and I agreed and I took her number.
I made the call to get on the list of other bands. The guy managing the event was some moron across the river in St. Louis. I call him a moron because we originally had a prime time slot at 6 PM.
Jake, Jesse and I practiced our asses off the next week and a half in their parents garage. The best of times, honestly.
I made a call two days before the gig and he acted as if he never talked to me. The shit head then penciled us in to play at 10 AM, guaranteeing us zero people who will see us play. As we were young and hungry for anything at the time, I said yes and we got penciled in at the top of the bill. It was a crap shoot, to the bands luck though, a dude working that day was so impressed that it changed the direction the band would go the next year.
Also, I play drums on the keyboard because my broke ass couldn’t afford a drum set until a month or two later. But man, I sure could work the keyboard drums like no one else.
A part 2 of the gig exists on some mini DVD R, just haven’t found it yet. Anyways, enjoy part 1 of the Carter Lee Band live at Best Buy 2008.

Carter Lee Band is a classic rock band that wrote and recorded original music but live mostly played cover songs. I was apart of the band from its founding in 2004 until early 2009. The original lineup, Jake (Guitar), Jesse (Vocals and Bass) and me (Drums) met a few times in 2012 to jam and record a little but that was the last time. Enjoy this blast from the past of my life!
