In the summer of 2021, 18-year-old Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz Garfia announced himself on the world tennis stage by defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas in a 5 set thriller at the US Open - in doing so, he became the youngest player to reach the fourth round of a Major since 1992.
He also became the youngest player to beat a top 3 opponent at a Major - since 17-year-old Michael Chang defeated both World Number 1 Ivan Lendl and World Number 3 Stefan Edberg at Roland Garros in 1989.
Many have already hailed Alcaraz as Rafael Nadal's successor, and he seized his chance to showcase this on the biggest of stages, dominating Tsitsipas with heavy forehands throughout - hitting 61 winners to the Greeks 47.
