Comparing a 480i standard definition Canon FS200 camcorder with the Canon HF-M30 recording in 1920x1080i HD and scaled down to standard definition 480i using its built-in conversion function. The FS200 has noticeably better sharpness and exposure (the HF-M30 blows out the whites quite badly). Obviously when viewed in HD the HF-M30 would have much better resolution, but for the majority of YouTube users who watch videos at 480p resolution or less, I think the FS200 produces a superior image.
