King Operating Corporation founder and CEO Jay Young joined WFAA-TV in Dallas to discuss record-setting electricity demand in Texas and the growing pressure AI data centers are placing on the state’s power grid.
During a stretch of 100-degree temperatures, electricity demand climbed to approximately 87,500 megawatts, surpassing Texas’ previous all-time record. The grid remained operational with support from wind, solar, natural gas and other generation sources.
