Sometimes you see a fantasy weapon in a video game that makes you go "aw man, I wish this was real!". The platinum and titanium crossbows from Icarus are one such case... a semi-automatic self-cocking, magazine fed design with a badass trapdoor mechanism.
Could this be done in the real world, and would it be practical? Actually... yes, mostly. I'll show you a few examples that get pretty close, and that are awesome in their own right.
