Tribute to Cleveland, Ohio originated Pere Ubu features only Ohio bands covering Pere Ubu songs.
Packaged in a slim double jewel case with a 4-panel folded insert. Track durations are not printed on the release.
Track 1-1 is not listed on the release; it consists of David Thomas saying "This is a song about a song, another song. That's the sort of things you get these days - you don't get the original songs anymore, I'm afraid."

'"The Modern Dance" is a song by Pere Ubu.
It is the title track of their debut album released in February 1978 through Blank Records. (track A2)
An earlier version of the song was released as a 7-inch, 45 RPM single in August 1977 on the Hearthan label (HR 104), with the B-side "Heaven."
The album version (and the single) was recorded in January 1977 at Cleveland Recording, engineered by Ken Hamann.
The song is notable for its use of field recordings of crowd noise and street traffic, which were made in Downtown Cleveland by synthesist Allen Ravenstine and incorporated into the track.
The original single mix of the track reportedly contained a repetitive doll squeak on the rhythm track. This element was later mixed out of the album version and reportedly replaced with a railroad spike sound. This original squeak was later rectified on the 2015 compilation, Elitism For The People 1975-1978.
