I will openly admit that first-person shooters are usually not my biggest strength as a gamer. If you follow RoXolid Productions, you know my true gaming passions lie heavily in classic action platformers, retro gaming consoles, and deep puzzle games rather than intense competitive online shooters. However, I have certainly played my fair share of the Call of Duty Modern Warfare games in the past. Now, the highly anticipated Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta is officially out, and incredibly, it is actually available right now on the brand new Nintendo Switch 2 hardware! For the first time in over a decade, the franchise is back on Nintendo.
A lot of people online have been quickly dogging the Nintendo Switch 2 for essentially being nothing more than a portable PS4 Pro in terms of raw graphical power and technical specs. So, I wanted to take a very close look, jump directly into the intense multiplayer beta, and see exactly how this game looks and performs on Nintendo's newest system. Keep in mind that this is still just a beta build from Activision and Digital Legends, but I have to honestly say, this looks pretty darn good!
With a lot of character models, chaotic explosions, Killstreaks, and rapid movement happening on screen all at once right now, things honestly look pretty stinking good on the Switch 2. I have got to say, this does look really, really good. I am genuinely pretty impressed with it, and not just grading it on a curve for being a Switch 2 portable game, but as a remarkably solid modern shooter experience overall! During my multiplayer matches, the action felt incredibly smooth and maintained a solid frame rate. I managed to get a few solid eliminations—blew one guy's face right off and got another guy right in the junk! The tactical gameplay is very responsive. I am really liking the unique Switch 2 features like the Joy-Con 2 mouse mode, the extremely accurate gyro aiming support, and how fluid the entire combat loop feels whether you are docked or playing in handheld mode.
Yeah, I have got to say, the visual detail on the multiplayer maps, environments, and weapon models is striking. I am definitely liking what I am seeing detail-wise here. The resolution might drop a little bit dynamically when things get absolutely crazy during a Resurgence match or massive multiplayer firefight, but the frame rate holds up incredibly well during heavy action. Of course, I am not loving the fact that I got eliminated so quickly a few times, but the game itself looks incredibly good and plays pretty seamlessly.
As I said earlier, I am not a great first-person shooter gamer by any stretch of the imagination, so dominating these competitive lobbies is definitely not my gaming forte. But I have got to say, this Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 beta on the Switch 2 is pretty dang impressive from a purely technical standpoint. I am really liking what Infinity Ward and Digital Legends are doing with this ambitious Nintendo port. If this level of high-quality third-party support, full feature parity, and solid graphical performance is exactly what we are going to consistently get moving forward on the Nintendo Switch 2 lifecycle, please give me more of this! It gives me so much hope for the future of the console.
Taking a look at it, my Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Play Test on Nintendo Switch 2 Looks GOOD! Have you had the chance to try out the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 beta yet on the Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X, or PC? Have you played it in handheld mode, or do you prefer locking it into the TV dock with a Pro Controller? And if so, what do you genuinely think of the new movement mechanics and maps? Is it a true return to form for the iconic Modern Warfare franchise? Leave all your thoughts, gameplay impressions, and feedback down below in the comments section! And try not to get absolutely destroyed out there on the multiplayer battlefield!
