Renegade One Life Community Challenge (NES, Famicom, Arcade)Lumpz Clown2018-04-15 | As issued by my good buddy, Nefarious Wes (twitter.com/Nefarious_Wes), this is my submission for the Renegade One Life Community Challenge!
Instead of simply choosing one game, I chose to play three! Short of that, I stuck with the rules of the challenge, which dictate:
1) The challenge ends when a life is lost, or the game is completed.
All of this was captured on my Raspberry Pi running RetroPie. No savestates or other emulator and/or controller functions outside of merely running the game were used when capturing this gameplay.

The four games that have been chosen to beat through to completion this year include:
Silver Surfer (NES) Ghosts n Goblins (NES) Ninja Gaiden (NES) Castlevania Adventure ReBirth Normal Classic (WiiWare)
The rules of the challenge are as follows:
1) Controllers with turbo functionality are acceptable. 2) There is no time limit to complete the challenge. 3) Must use original hardware and software. 4) Only a fan will be provided; no AC unless a viewer redeems channel points.
To that last rule, channel points can be redeemed to either:
1) Allow me to turn on the AC for 5 minutes. 2) Spritz myself in the face with a spray bottle.

Inside this diabolically designed point-and-click survival horror lies not one, not two, not three, but THIRTEEN separate endings!
This year, Lumpz the Clown will achieve all of these endings to assert not only dominance over what is typically described as "the worst Clock Tower game ever," but also unbridled mastery.

Don't sweat it; it's definitely not the end of the world!
I have never done this repair until this recording, and I make a TON of mistakes (don't worry, the repair is a success in the end) but it was definitely fun learning about the intricacies of polarized film and how to clean a WonderSwan screen.
It was so successful in fact that I was able to trade it at VIP Gamestore later that day complete with a copy of Digital Monster Ver. WonderSwan because more people definitely need to know about this amazing little console. Thanks for all that you do, and Lumpz the Clown OUT!

Event scripting continues, and development has been moved to my PS3, with many more rooms and concepts to break up the action being introduced.
A tentative release date in 2020 is expected, but may move quicker as my current life situation improves.

Here are a few that come to mind:
1) Enhanced music that takes advantage of the Famicom's expansion audio chip.
2) Load screens occur during transitions from overworld to towns, mansions, etc.
3) You have the opportunity to save your progress and pick it up later (no passwords).
And...that's really about it. Plainly put, Dracula II is a play-by-play of Simon's Quest with better (?) audio and load screens that increase run times.
Is it still fun to play? Absolutely, and you totally should.

Besides some minor and critical bugs, this ROM hack is pretty decent and greatly enhances the gameplay of the original.
The bugs worth noting include:
1) Breaking the vertical scroll mechanic in buildings when the map is opened while inside one.
2) Opening the map on the overworld will cause enemies to respawn once the map is closed.
3) Minor graphical glitches apparent in map.
In other words, use the map responsibly and you got yourself one helluva a ROM hack! Thanks to Bisqwit for making this possible!
The best ending was achieved on a later run after a game-breaking bug ended my original stream. Funny how running the same game multiple times makes you much faster!
Support Lumpz Media by becoming a Patron! patreon.com/lumpzmediaLumpz is Building a Survival Horror RPG - Part 2Lumpz Clown2018-05-22 | After about a month of going dark, I decide to tease a little more of Game X, Lumpz Media's very first official game, using RPG Maker on Sony Playstation.
So what is Game X? It's a nihilistic survival horror RPG about an amnesiac who wakes up in a wrecked escape pod on an alien planet. Cresting a hill, he sees the remains of a razed village, with a nondescript building on its outskirts that is oddly untouched.
Going inside, it would seem that there was a sustained effort to cultivate and terraform a rocky, uninhabited planet, but something seems to have gone horrifically wrong. It's up to you to locate and save any survivors,
Current features of Game X include:
1) Literally and figuratively fleshed out cutscenes that tell a horrific tale of man's hubris and the inevitable destruction that follows.
2) Item finding and backtracking a la Super Metroid, Silent Hill, and Resident Evil.
3) Terrifying mini-bosses (some of which that were constructed in Anime Maker) and event-based encounters that seemingly come out of nowhere.
4) Sci-fi and J-Horror elements, such as terraforming and vengeful spirits respectively, all seamlessly woven together to create a unique tapestry of captivating horror.
Future features of Game X include:
1) Add a Blue Magic system that incentivizes grinding and exploration.
2) Three different endings, all with different long-running cutscenes, earned through various in-game actions.
3) A surprise twist ending should you earn the best one.
4) Unique protagonist/boss sprites created in Anime Maker.
I will also be developing a more advanced version of Game X using RPG Maker VX Ace, with the intent of putting it on Steam with even MORE content added that didn't make the cut for this version.
Even better, once this version of Game X is complete, I will make it available for anyone to download and play via emulator completely free of charge.
Livestreams occur @ twitch.tv/lumpztheclown, but reveals/public development for Game X are sporadic. Follow for updates.Lumpz Media VLOG #3 - Website Woes, Rising Up, Game X UpdatesLumpz Clown2018-05-21 | (Links below!)
