The ghosts in this shot are given more diverse designs compared to the ones in the original, and are also made a little more appealing while still being spooky to some degree. Joanna Boa: A Lamias Treasure (Original Animatic) Austin Kalista 2019-07-13 | Deep in an ancient temple room filled with mounds of treasure, Joanna Boa, a gigantic royal lamia, is addicted to one huge ruby as it is lavish and alluring in her eyes, and is the one thing that keeps her young and beautiful. However, one adventurous archaeologist named Benjamin comes across this lamia's temple and must retrieve this giant gem as a souvenir for his family back home, all while trying not to wake Joanna from her sweet slumber. Soon he learns that the biggest prize isn't always the thing to go for, and that what really matters is the taste of adventure.I'm glad to have finally released this animatic because I've had the story in mind for quite a while but never got around to really developing it further until recently. Part of my style was influenced by ex-Disney animator Glen Keane because of how elegantly he drew and animated his characters, so I did my best to emulate that look while trying to be precise with the fluid movement. The hair on Ariel was especially tedious to animate because of how much of it there is and how difficult it was to position each individual drawing. Joy in 2D (test) Austin Kalista 2018-11-04 | This was originally a rough test I did for a 2D Character Animation class at SCAD, but I soon decided to clean it up and color it since it would look nicer. It's a recreation of Joy's dialogue from "Inside Out" in hand-drawn form. The audio used here is from the behind the scenes footage with Amy Poehler recording her parts.
