Multiple skunks test positive for rabies after skunk bites Sacramento Zoo visitor KCRA 3 2024-10-19 | A skunk that bit a Sacramento Zoo visitor may have had rabies, leading officials to capture and euthanize multiple other skunks in the area. A release from Sacramento County said a skunk that was behaving aggressively bit the visitor on Oct. 15. Crews with the zoo captured and euthanized three nearby skunks in the Land Park area and submitted them to the Sacramento County Public Health Laboratories for rabies testing. "That's a very unusual thing to happen. PG&E CEO speaks on reducing impact of planned power shutoffs KCRA 3 2024-10-18 | While Pacific Gas & Electric Co. shuts off power to thousands of customers during windy conditions, the utility's CEO is talking about their long-term work to minimize service disruptions. PG&E for years now has been proactively shutting off power to customers in areas it deems at risk of wildfires. Those planned outages are known as Public Safety Power Shutoffs (PSPS). CEO Patti Poppe said for a utility in the business of keeping power running to their customers, one of the tougher decisions is to cut that power when it's windy and dry enough that their equipment could start a large fire. Winds worsen fire at Sacramento County mobile home park; 1 injured KCRA 3 2024-10-18 | A person is in the hospital after an early Friday morning fire at a mobile home park in Sacramento County, officials said. The fire started just after 2 a.m. at the Camelia Gardens Mobile Home Park in the Arden-Arcade area, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District said. When firefighters arrived, they noticed heavy fire from one of the units. Parker Wilbourn, a spokesperson for Metro Fire, said they initially got a report that two people were missing. Crews found one person with burns and sent them to a hospital. Inmate who escaped Plumas County Jail taken into custody KCRA 3 2024-10-18 | The manhunt has ended for an inmate who escaped Plumas County Jail last month, according to the sheriff's office.
