Resin Belt Printer Prototype - March 2nd, 2016 William Steele 2021-11-28 | This is the first test print of the commercial version of my patented "Flash" Resin Belt prototype printer running. This machine was designed to continuously produce parts 5" x 5" x 5" in size. The idea is that the resin vat would allow the part to fall off into a waiting basket, which would then be lifted out and sent through additional steps (alcohol, water and UV) for post processing. The printer had a full system for maintaining the level of the resin in the vat a well. The part you see being printed is a sample compressor blade for a jet engine. (Note, for cost savings, we didn't fill up the vat all the way, but later on, we did to allow for the full build volume... the resin vat actually held 5 gallons of resin when full, and the fluid level was maintained by an additional 10 gallons stored under it.)

The Kenbak-1 was designed in 1971 by John Blankenbaker and is considered to be the first commercially available personal computer (that wasn't a kit.) It contains a TTL based serial processor (no microprocessor) that processes instructions one bit at a time. It's memory consists of two 128 byte shift registers, giving it a total of 256 bytes of memory. No rom, permanent storage or even digital I/O was available.My machine is still a work in progress but is now fully functional... I'll be making a new case for it next.
