A data-driven look at where electric trucks perform best Electric Autonomy 2024-05-17 | The Innovative Vehicle Institute (IVI) gave 5 transporters operating in Quebec the keys to an electric truck, including a temporary charging station, for a one-month free trial. This unique opportunity allowed companies to swap a diesel truck for a zero-emission vehicle on their existing routes to test their performance under real conditions, without any risk or cost – and gave them first-hand experience of what it's like to complete their usual duty cycle and run an electric fleet. Routes were chosen from the participants who took part in the previous phase, in which deep data was captured from 60 diesel trucks over the course of 9 months and 800 000 km to assess their potential for electrification.
