How We PLAN A ROAD TRIP DeskToGlory 2022-06-22 | We generally have an overarching idea of where we’d like to go in or a direction we’d like to travel, but we only add details to our plan in 3-4 day increments. Our love of flexibility doesn’t work with a strict schedule.Step 1: Add waypoints in @GaiaGPS. Coffee shops, restaurants, viewpoints, and campgrounds are added as points of interest. These could be recommendations from other travellers, highlights based on our own research, or lesser known “secret spots” from local contacts.Step 2: The most important part for us is to step out of the truck and onto the trail. I love adding complete routes for hiking trails onto the map when possible. Having distance and elevation data close at hand for a hike makes it nice and easy to plan and make a packing list (or prepare ourselves for a gruelling hike).Step 3: We connect the dots with backroads and scenic drives. If possible, we’ll stay off the freeway and stick to scenic (slower) routes. The best case scenario is a long dirt road with views to write home about.Step 4: Eventually everything comes together to form an overall route. We add photos to the waypoints we want to come back to (or recommend to others), but more often than not, there’s always another adventure to plan for.#gaiagps
LONG RANGE AMERICA Fuel Tank and MAGNAFLOW Exhaust Installation DeskToGlory 2022-01-27 | The final thing we wanted to do to Red before we drop in a new 22RE was to install a Long Range America 125L fuel tank. This was filmed in February/March 2020... you know, before the Covid pandemic. We’ll be catching you up on our Toyota Pickup build over the coming weeks. Thanks so much for following along!Indoor living space is coveted amongst the travellers we met on the road. Regardless of how well you plan a trip there are times when the weather (or season) forces you inside. We lived out of our old roof top tent for almost two years and longed for a little indoor space to sit where we’d be protected from the rain and wind.This time around we ordered a couple of Goose Gear drawer modules and proceeded to build an L-shaped bench with the help of an infill panel connected the two. I built a kitchen cabinet out of scrap 80/20 aluminum and plywood (complete with a little Dometic VA8000 sink) for the driver-side. A Dometic CFX3 35-liter fridge will sit towards the back. Now we have a place to stand, sit, cook, and work.I feel like luck was the only reason that Goose Gear makes off-the-shelf drawers that are the same height as the bedrails in our truck.
