The all new Renegade IQ is designed to be the most reliable and efficient hovercraft in the world. Its carbon & Kevlar components are stronger and lighter than HDPE or fiberglass being used by other manufacturers. The 4-stroke engine delivers fuel efficient and completely reliable power to the state of the art AeroDrive system. This high efficiency drive system uses a rear-drive to allow clean airflow into the fan, further reducing noise.
A single 10 hp Briggs & Stratton horizontal shaft engine turns a two blade 34-inch ducted propeller that provides both lift and thrust. This single engine design is both simple and reliable, and has been operated in varying conditions throughout the world. The 8F complies with the Hoverclub of America Entry Level racing requirements.
It's built from a foam and marine plywood sandwich construction. The combination of these materials makes a low cost, high strength composite structure that is un-sinkable.
Driving the craft is easy as it has only two controls; steering and throttle. Slowly advancing the throttle will bring the craft up on cushion. Adding a little more power accelerates the craft. Speed is easily controlled by increasing or decreasing engine rpm. First time pilots can learn to operate the craft in a very short period of time.
The craft will operate on land, water, snow, ice, mud, parking lots, football fields, ponds and rivers. Speed varies over each terrain. Smoother terrain will allow the craft to achieve higher speeds while rough terrain will slow the craft.

Among Marine LED's many advantages, heat production has reached an industry low, compared to conventional marine lighting. Consequently, the risk of burn injuries is virtually erased. Marine lights do not emit UV rays as well, so there is no risk of the paint on the vessel getting damaged. These are not the only reasons why LEDs are fast replacing incandescent bulbs. One other major factor is durability. LED lights are much hardier and they withstand impact and vibration like a charm, compared to regular lamps. This is a crucial advantage in the waters and ensures a longer life-span of your entire lighting system.
Get More for less by Going GREEN!
Decrease your expenses and reduce your power consumption. Light is measured in Lumens per watt. How much light is produced for every watt of electricity used? Simply put, Rigid LED Lights eliminate the need for generators and reduce the drain on your battery compared to tradition lighting.
LED Lifetime - 50,000+ hours (yes thats correct 50,000+ hours!)
LEDs are solid state devices with no moving parts. LED Lights are able to withstand shock and vibration better than traditional Halogen, HID and Xenon lights. The expanded life of the LED means that they'll last for over 50,000 hour compared to Halogen and Xenon lights which typically last up to 1,000 and 5,000 hours respectively.
Fuel efficiency
The 19XR's aerodynamic body, large propeller, and 4-stroke engine contribute to its outstanding performance and fuel efficiency. Fly effortlessly on a cushion of air from land to water, over broken and thin ice; go where other vehicles cannot.
Unmatched aerodynamics
Smooth lines, excellent aerodynamics and our high efficiency drive system keep the noise inside and outside the cockpit lower than any manufactured hovercraft available. Cockpit noise is further reduced by enclosing and insulating the engine. It's normal to hold a conversation with others in the craft while cruising at 50 mph.
Climate controlled
The enclosed cabin can be climate controlled for luxurious comfort in extremely hot and cold conditions. This is truly a four season vehicle. Gull wing doors make entry into the cockpit easy. The doors are easily removable for warm weather operations.
Luxury
This is a first class hovercraft for those who want to travel in style. Plush upholstery lines the inside of the cockpit and can be tailored to meet each customer's specific taste. Seating is extremely comfortable for the pilot and passengers. High end audio systems, DVD players, chart plotting GPS and radar are just a few of the options we offer. Each craft is custom built to meet your specific requirements and detailed to be your very own "one of a kind" hovercraft.

This is a twin engine hovercraft; it uses a 10 to 15 hp (Tecumseh, Briggs, Kohler, Honda or Robin) horizontal shaft thrust engine to turn a 36 inch 2-blade propeller and a 5 to 7 hp vertical shaft lift engine turning a 24 inch 4-blade lift fan. Both engines are direct drive.
The pointed design produces less planing drag and less high speed drag than a craft of equal size with a square front end. This translates into a higher payload capacity, low-power cruising, and a higher top speed. A single joystick controls two flexible rudders and thrust engine throttle. Lift throttle is mounted on the dashboard.
An entry level racing class has been formed for beginner to intermediate competitors by the Hoverclub of America. This class is based around the 13PT design. 15 hp is the maximum allowed horsepower (lift engine + thrust engine).
A single engine powers both he thrust propeller and lift fan through a belt drive system. The belt drive allows us to use a reduction drive system to turn the blades. Reducing the rpm of the propeller and fan through a reduction drive lowers blade tip speed enabling extremely quiet operation. The 13P is one of the quietest hovercrafts available today.
In addition to being quiet, the single engine design makes operating the craft easy. Just squeeze the throttle and off you go. We have engineered the drive system to supply the correct amount of power to both the lift fan and thrust propeller at every throttle setting.
A single 10 hp Tecumseh horizontal shaft engine turns a two blade 36-inch ducted propeller that provides both lift and thrust. This single engine design is both simple and reliable, and has been successfully built and flown by students in hundreds of schools and colleges throughout the world. The 10F complies with the Hoverclub of America Entry Level racing requirements.

The Hoverclub of America has designed a racing program specifically for the 10F & 10F2 Entry Level Hovercraft. The program is designed to allow close competition between individual competitors, High Schools and Universities at a very affordable price.
When complete, the 6F teaches the principles of hovering - riding on a cushion of air, thrust and lift, and how to operate a craft not in touch with the ground or water. Joystick steering controls rudders for precise control. Stop the 6F by reducing power, or have fun and pull a 180 reverse thrust stop. Landing skids built into the bottom allow quick emergency stopping.
The craft will handle up to a 250 pound passenger on smooth surfaces. The craft will operate on land, ice, snow, water or any relatively smooth surface.
We designed the craft around a vertical shaft engine. These engines can be purchased from Universal Hovercraft or you may find one locally attached to a lawn mower.

Advancing the throttle above 2,000 RPM with bring the craft up on cushion and begin a slow acceleration. This rpm is used to depart the landing zone. Advancing the throttle to full (3,600 rpm) will rapidly accelerate the craft. On a calm day the craft will achieve 50+ mph in just 6 seconds or 350 feet. After the craft is airborne it flies similarly to a small airplane. Moving the joystick left causes a slight bank and shallow turn. Because the craft is not fitted with ailerons it skids thru the turns much like a hovercraft. At cruise speed (45 to 50 mph) the craft rides very smooth. You can pass over waves without feeling any effect.
Scale modeling:
Nearly 25 scale models were constructed before the first tandem wing craft assembly began. This is the way we test most of our craft. It is much easier to make corrections in a styrofoam model than in a full size prototype. We tested wing angles, surface areas, 2,3 and 4 wing models, propeller angle, single propeller and dual propeller, weight and balance issues, control combinations and many different wing tip styles.
Terrain capability:
Most people are surprised to see this craft drive from the water to the land much like a typical hovercraft. This was a very important consideration while developing the craft. It had to be self launching (land to water) and able to transition under its own power from the water back up onto the land. This is made easy by the positioning of the propellers. They are slanted back at a 20 degree angle to help air flow directly under with wings. With only a slight advancement of the throttle this craft comes up on cushion.
Construction:
The craft is half old school and half new school. The body is made from a wood rib and stringer combination with most of the strength coming from the skins. Wings are made of a sandwich foam/fiberglass construction. The bottom trailing edges of the wings are laminated with 1/8 inch plywood to prevent excessive wear from waves slapping the surface.
Future development:
These types of craft have been under development by Universal Hovercraft for nearly 15 years now. In the future we plan to increase the horsepower of our current prototype from 35 to 45. We may also reconfigure the drive system to include a rear mounted thrust propeller. Further into the future we plan to build larger versions of the Tandem Wing capable of flying 4 passengers over rough water.
Plans are currently not available for this craft. We may offer plans in the future although we have not set a date for release. It is our goal to further develop this craft into a better performing, easy to control and safe ground effect vehicle. Periodically we will update this section of the web site with new tandem wing information.
Universal Hovercrafts research and development budget is directly dependant on sales being made to our customers. No outside funding such as government grants or loans have been used to develop these projects. We greatly appreciate our loyal customer base, new customers and future customers. Without you none of this is possible. Thank you for choosing Universal Hovercraft as your hovercraft supplier.
