This part of the concert starts with Janne Schaffer in a solo improvisation loosely based on the song "Så skimrande var aldrig havet" by Evert Taube with the main theme presented at 1:56 - 2:45. After this, some unexpected harmonies takes us in to a section of melodic jazz and rhythmic chord progressions that finally ends up in the tune "Kulan" where the rhythm section from the band joins him to perform the piece.

Janne Shaffer released a more structured rendition of "Så skimrande var aldrig havet" as a studio recording on the album "Blå Passager Och Röda Vågor" (Blue Passages and Red Waves) in 1982, and he performed it in a similar way on stage and some TV shows in 1981, but this is to my knowledge the first ever recording of him performing the piece in this style.

Audio quality might not be the best, but to my defense it's been sampled form a 39 year old well played cassette tape.

I just learnt that one of my musical heroes, Prof. Olaf Krumpfer, passed away over a year ago, 21 March 2018.

Some years back, I stumbled upon a recording on YouTube from Olaf Krumpfer's Inaugural concert for the professorship (2008) at the Academy of Music Carl Maria von Weber, Dresden where he and his colleague at the conservatory, Jörg Wachsmuth (Tuba virtuoso and Honorary Prof. at HfMDD in 2009) was performing Vittorio Monti's Csárdás in an arrangement for Piano, Trombone and Tuba as a humoristic showpiece . Unfortunately that video suffers from some technical glitches which slightly reduces the viewing experience.

In honor of Prof. Krumpfer's memory I have reworked the video and tried my best to re-sync the audio recording.
I also added some subtitles for the non German speaking audience. Hopefully I haven't misheard what they are saying on stage, if so I apologise and I sincerely hope that no one take offence by my publication here on YouTube.

As the only available recording from this amazing concert is audio only, I wanted to use that audio track and add short clips from Angelina's other performances of this song as some kind of chronological "growing up" story, but I had to give up ...
Since every performance of this song is different in tempo and phrasing it was just too difficult for me to get a decent video/audio sync and I ended up by using some footage from the Apollo 11 launch. After all, it's been claimed that Buzz Aldrin brought a recording of this song on the mission. I don't claim this to be true or anything, but it sounds likely.
