The Reason Why You Cant Trust Your Own Ears! FireWalk 2024-02-23 | Can you trust your own hearing? In this video I'll show you a simple hearing test that will reveal that nobody can really agree on what is being said, so make sure to let me know what you hear in the comments below. I always find it fascinating that people can never seem to agree when it comes to sound and what sounds good. Some people will say that a particular pair of studio monitors, or headphones sound great, and that another pair sounds bad, while others will say the exact opposite. Why is that? Why can people never agree? The fact of the matter is that you can't really trust your own hearing. We all have vastly different hearing, and will therefore perceive sound very differently. As a music producer, it is therefore very important to use visual aids when mixing, as well as having other people reference your mix. You might have heard the expression "use your ears". That's a good piece of advice. After all, the best tool you have are your ears. If something sounds good, it's usually good. That said, there might be certain frequencies you're not very sensitive too, which others might pick up or vice versa. My point is, you might have slight hearing damage without even being aware of it. Some people are more sensitive to higher frequencies and others are more sensitive to lower frequencies. By taking a hearing test, you can get a audiogram, showing the curve of your hearing. This hearing test will let you see which frequencies you are less sensitive too. That can come in handy as it will allow you to compensate for that slight hearing loss. if people say your mix is always too harsh up top, and has too much high-end, but it sounds fine to you, it might be that you have a slight dip in your upper-frequency hearing range. Being aware of this will allow you to compensate for that. I'm not saying you shouldn't use your ears of course. I'm just saying you can't always trust them 100% and that you should use visual aids like spectrum analyzers and the Izotope tonal balance 2 etc. The Yanny or Laurel audio clip is not a traditional hearing test but it serves to show how differently people can perceive sound. It can also tell you something about which frequencies you are most sensitive to. Visual aids can be helpful when mixing and mastering music. Particularly the Izotioe tonal balance plugin. It will show how much energy is in the different frequency bands, compared to other commercial tracks. The BEST Midi Keyboard for FL Studio! Novation FLkey 61 Review FireWalk 2024-02-02 | What's the best midi controller or midi keyboard for FL Studio? In this video, I'll do a review of the Novation FLkey 61. The Novation FLkey midi keyboards are the first midi keyboards specifically made for FL Studio users. They offer full integration with FL Studio, allowing you to control almost anything without taking your hands off the keyboard. This on approach can really help speed up your workflow, and save you a lot of time. I found that recording, quantizing, dumping the score log, undoing/redoing etc was much faster when using this method than the traditional way. These midi controllers come in four different sizes. The smallest is the Flkey mini, then there's the flkey 37, flkey 49 and flkey 61, for those who need a full-sized keyboard. In other words, something for everyone. These are the first midi keyboards made specifically for FL Studio. They offer all the features you'd want in a midi keyboard in this price range. They also offer good build quality. The keys in particular are better than many other budget midi keyboards. With the best FL Studio integration of any midi keyboard out there, affordable price and good build quality, it's hard not to recommend the new FLkey line to anyone who uses FL studio. Note: In the newest firmware update it is now possible to turn off the lights by holding shift and settings for two seconds. How To Isolate Vocals & Instruments In FL Studio (Stem Separation Tutorial) FireWalk 2023-12-15 | In this FL Studio beginner tutorial, I will show you how to isolate vocals and instruments and separate stems in FL Studio 21.2. Stem separation means splitting a song into its fundamental elements, like vocals, bass, drums, and instruments. FL Studio 21.2 introduces a new AI-based stem separation too, which can easily split any song into stems. This is great if you want to isolate vocals, or just remove vocals from a song and make an instrumental version in FL Studio. It's now easier than ever before. This is a great feature to have if you're a music producer who wants to make a remix of a song, and you just need the vocals. You can then split the stems, and save only the vocal stem. Or perhaps you want to make a karaoke version of a song? In that case, just delete the vocal stem, but keep everything else, and you have a karaoke version / instrumental version of the song. This works best when using a song with high audio quality, such as a wav file. Low bitrate mp3 and such is not ideal. The stem separation process is not non-destructive, so often times the separated stems can sound a bit muffled. In this tutorial, I will show you some tricks and tips on how to enhance the final result after you have separated the stems in FL Studio. This will enhance the result and make it sound a bit crisper. Especially if you're making a karaoke version or instrumental version, and some of the instruments are phasing in and out a bit. How To Fix Studio Monitor Ground Loop Noise (Computer Noise Hiss Hum Buzz) FireWalk 2023-12-08 | In this video I'll show you how to stop studio monitor noise generated by ground loop noise. Ground loop noise in audio setups is quite common. It's also extremely annoying. Ground loop noise will typically sound like a low frequency hum or buss, or it could sound like electrical noise from your computer. In some cases you can hear GPU noise, noise from your harddrive and so on.In this video I'll review the ifi GND defender, which is a relatively cheap device which will effectively remove ground loops from your system. It can be plugged directly into your computer, at the back of monitors, electric guitar amplifiers and so on. Ground loop noise from speakers, monitors etc is a problem that many music producers and musicians struggle with, because gear and devices will usually be interconnected by signal cables, while at the same time being independently powered. This will induce multiple grounding points in the system, creating the perfect condition for ground loop noise to occur. Unlike those ground lifts, this doesn't try to filter out the noise after it has occurred, which will often result in reduced low-end. Instead, the GND defender prevents the ground loop from occurring in the first place, taking care of the problem at its source instead, which is the ideal thing to do. It is also perfectly safe to use. In the case of an actual electrical fault in your system, the safety of the ground will be preserved. Note that if you use this thedive with studio monitors, you'll ned two devices, one for each monitor. A compressor can be very useful on vocals for example, as well as drums and so on. It can make vocals sound more even, by making sure that quieter parts become louder, and louder parts become quieter. It can also be used to make drums crisper and punchier. A compressor can also be used on lead instruments, bass guitar, and so on. There are really no limits. When used right, it can help make your mix sound fuller, warmer and punchier. Compresison is what makes sounds appear "huge", by bringing up the quieter frequencies and pulling down the louder ones, you achieve a much fuller and fatter sound. How to find the KEY and TEMPO of any song or sample! (EASIEST Way) FireWalk 2023-09-08 | In this music production tutorial I'll show you how to find the key and tempo (BPM) of any song or audio sample in 10 seconds or less. There are many ways to find the key and tempo of a song or audio sample inside FL Studio, Ableton and other daws. However, it is often quicker to just use a website, and drag the sample in. It will then auto-detect the key of the sample, or the song, as well as the detected tempo. This is important to know if you are going to make a remix for example, or autotune a vocal. You will then have to know the key of the song. If you're making a remix and you have a vocal sample or an instrumental or whatever, you'll need to know both the tempo, or BPM, and the key of the audio, and this is really the quickest way to do that. There are plenty of third-party software available that can do this, such as mixed in key, keyfinder etc. But personally, I tend to just use websites like this, simply because it's quicker. This means that it doesn't matter what kind of DAW you're using either. How To Make A Typical White Noise Sweep Sound Effect In FL Studio 21 FireWalk 2023-07-21 | In this FL Studio beginner tutorial, I will show you how to make a standard white noise sweep effect. White noise sweeps are one of the most used sound effects in electronic music today. They will typically sweep up towards a transition, and then sweep down after it to make transitions smoother and more effective. Both are really easy to make, and in this tutorial, I will show you how to make both white noise up sweeps and down sweeps. So why do you need white noise sweeps in your music? Music producers will typically use white noise sweeps to add more atmosphere and ambiance in their mix. It’s a great way to fill space in the mix, and add more movement and variation. White noise sweeps are typically just sitting subtly in the background, and are primarily used to help with transitions. However, they can also be used to make a buildup more effective by adding more tension as it builds up. There are many ways to make your white noise sweeps more interesting, by adding some chorus, sidechaining and such, but in this video, I’m just going to focus on how to make a simple and basic white noise effect. I will make another more advanced tutorial on how to make different kinds of white noise sweeps later. I Should SWITCH! ADAM Audio A77H Studio Monitor Review FireWalk 2023-07-07 | In this video, I will be providing an unboxing and review of the ADAM Audio A77H studio monitors. These are active midfield studio monitors and they are part of the new A-series. The A77H is the successor to the hugely popular A77X. The ADAM Audio A77H, unlike the previous model, is now a true 3-way studio monitor. ADAM Audio has made several improvements and the A77H comes packed with all the latest features, including ethernet connectivity, DSP, etc. The ADAM Audio A77H is a true 3-way professional studio monitor with dual 7" multi-layer mineral stone woofers, a 3,5" midrange driver, and a 2" X-ART ribbon tweeter in a rotatable HPS waveguide. It's bi-amped of course, and the amplifiers can deliver a whopping 500 watts of peak performance. They are front ported, and the new woofers use a new ultra-lightweight mineral stone fiber design, which is baked together.The waveguide is rotatable, which means that these studio monitors can be placed both horizontally and vertically. Remember that these are midfield monitors, so they are intended for larger home studios and recording studios.The new ADAM Audio A77H offers extremely detailed sound. This is very helpful for a music producer when mixing and mastering because you will be able to hear everything that's going on in your mix. That includes the low-end because the ADAM Audio A77H has quite an impressive low-end extension, thanks to its bigger cabinet and dual 7" woofers. Pro Mixing Tip: Add THIS To Your Kick! FireWalk 2023-04-28 | In this mixing tutorial, I'll show you a quick and simple pro mixing tip on how to mix kicks so that they really cut through in the mix. The kick is the very foundation of your mix, so it is essential that your kick drum is sitting properly in the mix. This mixing trick works almost every time and is much quicker and easier than traditional kick layering.When mixing music in FL Studio, Ableton, or whatever DAW you're using, you'll often experience that the kick just doesn't seem to work in the mix, and you'll end up replacing the kick countless times before you find one that you're happy with. A kick will often struggle to cut through in the top end once you start adding more sounds in the mix. By layering in sounds with more transients, such as a closed hat, a clap, and such, you help boost the transients of the kick and allow it to cut through in the high-end. This will help add rhythm and movement in your song, and the mix will sound much cleaner overall. The kick is one of the most important elements in your mix, so it's essential that it works well in the mix. Mixing and mastering can be difficult, but there are many mixing tricks like this, which are easy to do and makes a huge impact overall, so make sure to check out my other mixing tutorials as well, for more tips and tricks like this. How To Find Your Backup Files In FL Studio 21 (FLP Backup Folder) FireWalk 2023-03-31 | In This FL Studio beginner tutorial, I will show you how to find your backup folder in FL Studio 21. FL Studio 21 constantly back up your FL Studio projects and saves them as FL Studio FLP project files. There is nothing more annoying than working on a project for a long time, and then the project crashes and you lose everything. The good news is that your flp project is not lost, you can usually recover it from the backup folder in FL Studio. If your project crashes when you try to open it, it's likely caused by a plugin you recently added. You can then go into your backup folder and load a version of the project from before you added that plugin. You can easily find your FL Studio backup folder by going to file, then seeing where your data folder is saved.In FL Studio 21, the backup files will be stored in the data folder, not in the FL Studio installation folder like in older versions. You can also change the backup autosave interval, as well as how many backup files you want to have saved before it starts overwriting them. If you don't have a backup of the project that crashes or won't open, then you can use the diagnostic tool to fix the corrupt project. How To Fix Latency Problems In FL Studio 21 (3 EASY Ways) FireWalk 2023-03-10 | This tutorial will show you how to fix latency and delay problems in FL Studio 21. Delay due to latency is a common problem in FL Studio and can be very problematic when trying to record with a microphone or midi from a keyboard for example. If you have high latency when recording, everything will be out of sync. In order to record without delay in FL Studio, you need low latency. To fix this, make sure that you are using the correct ASIO driver, and that the ASIO buffer size (audio buffer) is not set too high. You can also freeze tracks in place to reduce CPU load. Some plugins are very CPU intensive, and disabling these will allow you to use a lower buffer size, which again will provide lower latency and no delay. Typical latency issues are recordings that are out of sync. This could be audio recordings or recorded midi that don't show up properly aligned on the FL Studio piano roll grid. Before you start recording with a mic or a midi device in FL Studio, you must make sure that you have low latency, or else the recording will be out of sync. The most common reason for delay, lag and out-of-sync recordings are high latency. This is usually a result of using the wrong ASIO driver, the wrong ASIO Buffer (audio buffer) size or a computer that is too slow. Higher ASIO buffer settings are great for slow computers, and will enable you to keep on working on big projects. However, higher buffer settings means more latency. This tutorial will show you 3 simple ways to reduce latency in FL Studio, even if you have a slow computer. I recommend always using the ASIO driver that comes with your sound card, because it will usually provide the lowest latency possible. However, if you need to also have system sounds simultaneously, I recommend using the FL Studio ASIO, which is a kind of hybrid ASIO driver. Most external audio interfaces provide ASIO drivers that allow you to also hear the system sound though. These are the BEST budget monitors you can get for under $500 according to Kali Audio, and some people even claim they sound like higher-end monitors. But how good are they really? In this review, I'll take a good look at what the LP-8 V2 (second wave) has to offer. Kali Audio LP-8 V2 is a budget / entry-level two-way active studio monitor with an 8-inch woofer and a 1-inch dome tweeter. The LP-8 V2, or second wave is the latest upgraded version, and must not be confused with the earlier LP-8 model. The large woofer means that it will provide better low-end extension than smaller studio monitors, and this also makes it ideal for medium and slightly larger rooms. When looking for the best entry-level studio monitors, the most important factor is value for money. There's a lot to choose from when it comes to budget studio monitors, and it's not easy to choose the best one for your home studio. If you're a music producer on a budget, you obviously want as much bang for your buck as possible. I think the Kali Audio LP-8 provides very good value for money overall. It's much cheaper than most of its competitors but still provides equal performance. Focusrite Loopback Setup | How To Record Internal Audio FireWalk 2023-01-20 | In this tutorial, I will show you how to set up loopback in Focusrite Scarlet audio interfaces, and how to use the Focusrite Loopback function to record internal audio into your DAW. Loopback is a function found in Focusrite Scarlett audio interfaces. It allows you to easily set up the internal audio from your computer as a dedicated input, so that you can record this with just a few clicks inside FL Studio, Ableton, or any other DAW, without using any third-party software. This is extremely useful if you want to record audio from YouTube, Spotify, etc into FL Studio, Ableton, or any other DAW.In this tutorial, I'm using FL Studio to show you how to setup loopback with a focusrite scarlett 4i4, but it's the same basic procedure in other daws too. The first thing you have to do is to go into Focusrite control and enable loopback output. Then, select the same input in FL Studio (or any other DAW). You can now record the internal audio. You NEED This In Your Home Studio! (Cheap Essentials For Music Producers) FireWalk 2022-12-16 | Are you a music producer and trying to build a home studio on a budget? In this video, I'll show you 10 cheap but essential things (under $100) that you need in a home studio. If you're building a home studio then you probably already know that you need the basics like a computer, a DAW like FL Studio, Logic, Ableton, and so on. However, there are also things that might not be so obvious, such as acoustic treatment, things to help you with music theory, noise removal, and so on, and that's what I'll be focusing on in this video. A lot of music producers are also constantly on the move or have limited space in their home recording studios. I have therefore also included some budget studio gear that's great for music producers on the move, such as portable midi keyboards, midi mixers, and so on. A lot of budget audio interfaces have limited functionality, so you can't adjust your monitors and headphones separately. A simple signal splitter can then be helpful. Building a home studio isn't that complicated. The basic things you need are as follows: A computer. A DAW like FL Studio, Ableton etc. A basic audio interface. A pair of studio monitors, and or studio headphones. If you're also planning on recording vocals, then you'll also need a microphone of course. If not, then you don't really even need an audio interface. You can in fact make music "in the box" using only the onboard soundcard on your computer. However, I strongly recommend getting a dedicated audio interface eventually in any case. There will be a separate video about how to build a home studio on a budget. Fl Studio 21 is finally here but some people are hesitating to update because they are afraid they will lose all their settings and files. This could be tricky in the past as you had to migrate settings from an old version of FL Studio to the new one. Not too long ago they changed things so that your settings and files are now actually located in a unique data folder, independently of the FL Studio installation itself. This means that you can have several installations of FL Studio, all using the same data folder. You can install FL Studio 21 as a separate version, and still keep all your settings and files. This is how it is supposed to be by default, and it's not as complicated as people will have you think. All you have to do is to ensure that "settings - clear data" is not selected. As long as it's not, everything should remain as it was when you're done installing FL Studio 21. The TRUTH About Mixing in Mono! Should You Do It? FireWalk 2022-12-02 | Should you mix in mono? Is mixing in mono the secret to a perfect mix? Or is it just a gimmick? In this FL Studio beginner tutorial, I will explain why you should, and why you shouldn't be mixing in mono. There are many aspects of music production and mixing and mastering are perhaps one of the things most people struggle with. Some people claim that mixing in mono will make everything so much easier, and by simply mixing in mono, you can get a perfectly balanced mix that works everywhere every time. But is it really that simple? Is mixing in mono really the key to a perfect mix? Of course, it's not that simple. There are pros and cons with everything, and mixing in mono does have some advantages, but there are also some problems related to mixing in mono. My best advice is to take advantage of the pros and avoid the cons, by constantly checking your mix in mono when mixing. I rarely mix in mono myself, but I do check my mix in mono quite often. Just as you would want to check your mix on both headphones and monitors to make sure that it works well on both. It's all about finding that perfect balance. It's impossible to mix a song so that it sounds great everywhere. The best you can really hope for is a mix that sounds decent on most devices. In other words, a fairly neutral and tonally balanced mix. That should sound decent on most devices. How To Sidechain In FL Studio (Beginner Tutorial) FireWalk 2022-10-28 | In this FL Studio beginner tutorial, you'll learn how to set up proper sidechain compression in FL Studio 20. Sidechaining is an important mixing tool that allows you to control the overlap in the low end. By sidechaining your bass, for example, you can ensure that it doesn't overlap with your kick. That way you'll get a much cleaner mix. There are many ways to sidechain in FL Studio, but this is the old-school way with a trigger and a compressor. In this FL Studio beginner tutorial I will show you how to set up a sidechain trigger, and how to use the fruity limiter to duck the volume of the bass, using the kick pattern. Sidechaining can be used for a lot of things, but it's most commonly used for so called volume ducking. In modern EDM almost everything will tend to be sidechained. This allows the main kick to really punch through the mix, and prevents the low-end from sounding muddy or muffled. You can also sidechain other elements in your mix, like pads, leads, strings and so on. A good rule of thumb is to apply very aggressive sidechaining (volume ducking) on low-end elements like your bass, and then use less sidechaining as the frequency of the sound goes up. For example, you don't need to sidechain hats and other high-end elements. Vocals should typically also not be sidechained. Midrange elements on the other hand, like chords and such will typically be somewhat sidechained. How To Stop Ground Loop Noise - ifi GND Defender Review FireWalk 2022-09-23 | Ground loop noise in audio setups is quite common. It's also extremely annoying. Ground loop noise will typically sound like a low frequency hum or buss, or it could sound like electrical noise from your computer. In some cases you can hear GPU noise, noise from your harddrive and so on.In this video I'll review the ifi GND defender, which is a relatively cheap device which will effectively remove ground loops from your system. It can be plugged directly into your computer, at the back of monitors, electric guitar amplifiers and so on. Ground loop noise from speakers, monitors etc is a problem that many music producers and musicians struggle with, because gear and devices will usually be interconnected by signal cables, while at the same time being independently powered. This will induce multiple grounding points in the system, creating the perfect condition for ground loop noise to occur. Unlike those ground lifts, this doesn't try to filter out the noise after it has occurred, which will often result in reduced low-end. Instead, the GND defender prevents the ground loop from occurring in the first place, taking care of the problem at its source instead, which is the ideal thing to do. It is also perfectly safe to use. In the case of an actual electrical fault in your system, the safety of the ground will be preserved. Note that if you use this thedive with studio monitors, you'll ned two devices, one for each monitor. In most cases though, plugging it into the back of your computer will take care of the problem. The BEST Way to Automate Master Volume in FL Studio! FireWalk 2022-09-02 | In this video, I will show you how to automate master volume in FL Studio.Master volume automation sounds simple enough, but there are many ways to do this in FL Studio, and unfortunately, many people use it the wrong way. It's not technically "wrong" but the volume automation will be much more efficient if you do it correctly. Volume automation is probably the most essential automation there is for a music producer.You typically want the low-energy sections in your song to be more dynamic and more relaxing than the high-energy sections. If you don't use volume automation correctly, then the low-energy sections will remain heavily compressed even after the master volume automation, which is not ideal because it will make your track sound more fatiguing and less varied when it comes to energy distribution.Not only can this make it sound fatiguing, but it will also make the drop sound less energetic and impactful than it could have been,In this FL Studio beginner tutorial, I will show you the two most common ways to add master volume automation in FL Studio. The Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 is a USB-C-powered audio interface with 4 inputs and 4 outputs. I will show you how to set up this audio interface, and go through all its functions, as well as the software functions, including loopback setup. I'm using FL Studio in this video, but this works in other DAWs too. The Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 3rd gen brings some new and useful features over the previous model. Here are some of the key features:The Scarlett 4i4 (3rd gen) brings a new feature to the Scarlett lineup and that's Loopback. This is a software/digital input that allows you to bring in any software on your computer (ex: Skype for podcast interviews) and record that input onto its own separated channel in your DAW.The third generation Scarlett 4i4 now comes with USB-C as standard. The preamps of the 4i4 have also been improved and provide more gain compared to previous models. The air and pad feature is still there, although it has been moved into the software instead. Whatever You do, DONT Touch This Setting in FL Studio! FireWalk 2022-06-17 | There are many myths about FL Studio. There are also plenty of FL Studio mixing tips and tricks out there that people have published with the best intentions, but not all of them are great advice. Some could even completely mess up your mixing and mastering. One of those myths or tips and tricks regarding FL Studio has to do with the panning law utilized by FL Studio. FL Studio has two different panning laws that can be used. Triangular panning law and circular panning law. The panning law in FL Studio directly affects your mixing. Circular panning law is enabled by default. I've seen many recommend changing from one panning law to the other because it's supposed to make your fl studio projects sound better (better sound quality). Unfortunately, this is usually really bad advice, and in this video, I'll explain why you should never change from one panning law to another unless it's the very first thing you do in a new project before you start working on it. How to Use Kickstart 2 (Fl Studio Tutorial) FireWalk 2022-06-03 | In this kickstart 2 tutorial, I will show you how to use Kickstart 2 in FL Studio, but you can also use kickstart 2 in other daws such as Ableton, Logic, etc. In this video, I'll go through all the new functions and features in kickstart 2. Nicky Romero Kickstart by cableguys & Nicky Romero is one of the most widely used plugin for applying quick sidechaining among music producers. The new kickstart 2 plugin comes with the same easy-to-use interface and basic features as the first version, however, it also comes with some really welcomed upgrades which makes the plugin much more usable. One of my favorite new features in kickstart 2 is the new audio trigger feature. This allows you to sidechain based on the incoming audio signal. It now also supports midi triggering. The original kickstart plugin didn't have this functionality. Kickstart 2 also provides band split and the curves are now adjustable. All in all, this makes it much more usable for music production because you can tweak it to your needs, and because of the new audio triggering and midi triggering, you'll rarely need traditional sidechaining anymore. it's still not as adjustable as LFOtool, but that's not the point of this plugin. This is meant as a dedicated sidechain tool, and it's designed to be very quick and easy to use. This is one of the best and easiest to use sidechain plugins out there when it comes to applying quick volume ducking. It's also fairly inexpensive. FL Studio can quickly become a bit messy with a lot of automation all over the place. Merging these automation clips can help make your project more organized and easier to navigate. Merging automation in FL Studio is very easy. Just move the automation clips you want to merge close together, select them and then go to the many and select merge automation clips, or use the shortcut ALT+CTRL+G to quickly merge automation. I recommend learning and using the shortcuts in FL Studio because it will help you get a faster workflow. How to Mix & Process Pads, Strings, and Similar Sounds (FL Studio Mixing Tutorial) FireWalk 2022-05-13 | In this fl studio mixing tutorial, I will show you how to mix pads, strings, and similar sounds properly. Mixing pads in particular can be difficult because they tend to take up a lot of space in the mix because they are sustained sounds with a lot of frequencies. In this mixing tutorial, we're going to look at how to process pads and strings with EQ, compression, reverb, saturation, and so on. I'm also going to show you some advanced mixing techniques that involve automation, in order to make sure that the pads and strings are sitting perfectly in your mix at all times. Automation is often the difference between beginners and professionals when it comes to mixing and mastering. A song will have different intensity in the drop compared to the breakdown, and you'll therefore typically want to mix your elements differently in these sections. There might be too little space in the mix during the drop, and not enough during the breakdown for example. It then won't make sense to mix and process your sounds exactly the same during these sections. By mixing and processing pads differently during the drop and the breakdown, for example, you can ensure that the drop sounds cleaner and more powerful. Many of these mixing tricks apply to other sounds too, including leads and vocals. Awesome New Playlist Feature in FL Studio! (I Cant Live Without This!) FireWalk 2022-03-11 | In this video, I'm going to show you some extremely useful fl studio hacks, or tips and tricks with regard to the playlist in FL Studio 20. This feature was added a few versions ago so it's not brand new, still many don't know about this playlist feature. FL Studio actually allows you to use multiple playlists all at once, in the same project. This can be extremely useful in a variety of ways. Using multiple playlists allows you to have different versions of the same FLP project in one project in FL Studio. You could have an extended version, radio version, drop-in mix etc all in the same project. This also makes it much easier to make templates for example. if you ave a project you're very happy with, and you want to make a template from this project, you can simply make a new blank playlist, and then keep the original arrangement as a guide. That way, you can also easily go back into the original arrangement and copy elements from it and into the new one. This is a feature I'm using all the time myself, but I've noticed that many don't seem to be aware of this new feature in FL Studio. What's different about these headphones is that they are modular, which means that you can replace the individual components. FL Studio Audio Playback Tracker Out of Sync? - How to Fix! FireWalk 2022-02-11 | In this tutorial, I'm going to show you how to fix the audio playback tracker out of sync problem in FL Studio. When you play your project in FL Studio, the playlist playback position cursor will sometimes be out of sync with the audio. This can be quite annoying and makes it difficult to do surgical edits to audio clips and such. When the playback tracking is out of sync, the patterns and audio clips in the playlist will not align with the tracker cursor in the playlist when playing back your project, and that makes it very difficult to get everything aligned properly. The patterns and audio play in time, but what you hear isn't the same as what is shown visually. When the audio playback is out of sync, it makes it extremely difficult to visually get everything properly aligned in your project. In this video I will show you how to fix this problem.In the FL Studio Audio settings, there is an option for selecting playback tracking. You can select either driver, mixer or hybrid. When the playback tracking is out of sync, it's usually because the settings here is wrong. What is Dynamic Range in Music? - Dynamic Range Explained FireWalk 2022-01-28 | What is dynamic range in music? This video will explain what dynamic range in music is and why it is important. It is essential to understand dynamic range when mixing and mastering music. If you're a music producer, or just enjoy listening to music, you should know how dynamic range in music works. You have probably heard about the loudness war. This is closely related to dynamic range. Dynamic range in music is vital in order for music to sound crisp and punchy. When music is too compressed, the dynamic range is restricted, and that will cause the music to be quite tiresome to listen to. This is what the loudness war was all about, by constantly trying to make music louder, the dynamic range got more and more restricted, and this eventually caused the music to sound bad, distorted, and tiresome to listen to. In this video I will use FL Studio to show some examples on how dynamic range works in music, and how the loudness war affectsed music negatively. So, what is dynamic range in music? Dynamic range is basically the difference between the loudest and quietest elements in a song. This is important because our hearing works by this principle. It constantly separates loud and quiet elements, trying to do judge distances and such. If a track is too compressed, there's very little difference between loud and quiet elements, in other words, the dynamic range is restricted. Compressed music will tend to sound louder, and louder typically always sounds better to humans, but it is very important to find a good balance between dynamic range and loudness, or else the music will suffer from it. In order for some things to be perceived as loud, something else has to be quiet in comparison. Our hearing needs a frame of reference. This is why dynamic range is so important in music. If the dynamic range is too restricted, it simply won't work very well, and it will quickly become very tiresome to listen to. No System Sound When Using FL Studio? - Easy Fix! FireWalk 2022-01-14 | This tutorial will show you how to fix no sound problem in FL Studio. A common problem when using FL Studio is that you can't hear any system sound like YouTube, spotify etc while using FL Studio at the same time. This is because FL Studio uses an ASIO driver which takes complete control of your sound card. If you want to hear youtube and watch some music production tutorials for example, and use FL Studio at the same time then you'll have to change the ASIO device in the audio settings in FL Studio. That will fix the no sound problem. Note that this will also introduce more latency, so if you plan to record inside FL Studio then I recommend switching back to the ASIO driver that came with your sound card, or use ASIO4all. The FL Studio ASIO driver is a kind of hybrid driver that will allow you to hear sound from FL Studio and windows, YouTube etc at the same time. This can also be very useful if you want to screen capture FL Studio and record the audio too. If you try to screen capture FL Studio using the ASIO4all, there will be no sound. If you switch to the FL Studio ASIO driver then you can record the sound too. Problem solved. Some ASIO drivers that comes with your audio interface will allow you to hear the system sound and use FL Studio at the same time, however, it usually won't work if you try to screen capture FL Studio. For that you'll usually need to use the FL Studio ASIO driver, or there will be no sound.Alternatively, you can also use the "auto close" option to fix the no sound problem in FL Studio, but the audio will drop in and out constantly, which can be annoying, so the easiest way to fix this problem is to use the FL Studio ASIO driver.
