PottowwVery happy with this IL. My backflip at the very end could have been slightly more straight towards the star, saving me a few frames, but overall this was pretty smooth all the way through.
The drill-clip inside the pillar on the second planet is extremely precise when done from the underside. In my old PB I clipped into the pillar from the top, which has a pretty huge window to succeed. However, 95%+ of all my attempts this time died to the pillar clip from the underside. I managed to get a setup that was both quick and "somewhat" reliable, though.
Sub 40 seconds is not doable without updated strategies, but I could see sub 40.5 happening with an insane run. I definitely feel done with this level myself though, for the time being.

So, new runs will not be as frequent until I have managed to fix this.
This is a fun star to speedrun. Compared to the old record I use a faster cycle and optimize the movement in general. The run was extremely good up until the final platform before the pipe, however the longjump to the pipe was a bit off in its angle and the final flutter can be improved slightly if you start your movement sooner. However, I wasn't able to beat this in about an hour of attempts (my 53.53 is still my second best time) and therefore I will be happy with this (primarily because I was super lucky to not have crackling noises in this attempt, and having to reset over the crackling drove me nuts).
This beats the old record by over four seconds. I hope you enjoy!Super Mario Galaxy 2: Rolling Masterpiece Galaxy - Masterpiece Speed Run [1:23.85]Pottoww2021-09-26 | This galaxy is definitely starting to get on my nerves, haha. This run was the fastest I had ever reached the final platform regardless of two of the three "RNG" launch pads being bad (the second one is always slow with the used route).
The final part in this IL, jumping onto the pole and grabbing the star, is by far the most awkward and annoying part of the level. It is simply super difficult to do smoothly and without losing time. I had one run that was potentially better than this one but where I missed the star by not getting enough height. Oh well, here we are!
Potential improvements on this star are better launch pads, getting the fastest jump on the third planet and killing the silver chomp in 3 hits instead of 4. However, even with a three hit silver chomp being possible, I only managed to get it once during my 5+ hours of attempts.
Shout outs to Snake_Madness/Jake D. Snake for pushing me to try out the used route on the bomb platform, as I didn't think it would be an improvement before optimizing it.
This beats the previous world record by close to four seconds. I hope you enjoy!Super Mario Galaxy 2: Supermassive Galaxy - Green Star 3 [23.83]Pottoww2021-09-24 | I got to the final platform on a "perfect" attempt about 15 times before getting this, failing every single one to the land cancel (no, it shouldn't be that hard, but it just didn't want to work whenever I had a good run).
This star comes down to optimizing the part up until the moving pipe while skipping the cut scene as late as possible, to not waste any time waiting for it to rise. After I get on the pipe I run to the edge and longjump towards in between the two thwomps, longjump twice, instant side flip into the launch star and triple jump to get the star after the land cancel.
You can reach the star with a side flip + spin as well if you are below it. However, did didn't seem to save me any time, so I chose to go with the triple jump instead. My first jump started a little bit late and optimally I would have saved 3-5 frames more in the end when grabbing the star.
I am aware of the wallkick route from PurpleSun (youtube.com/watch?v=KwHCkBmDdJU) but I simply could not get it to work (I am basically trash at this game, I know). I will do this strat a bit more when I feel like it and see if I can get it down, and update the IL if I do. Besides, it's cooler to beat the old record without updating the route!
This took me a lot of time to accomplish and the land cancel really put my nerves to the test. Oh well, here it is, I hope you enjoy! This beats the old record by exactly one second.Super Mario Galaxy 2: Rolling Masterpiece Galaxy - Green Star 2 [1:06.05]Pottoww2021-09-20 | So, I will upload a better Green Star 1 time once I have gotten a 37, but in the meantime you can enjoy this Green Star 2 run that absolutely smashed my goal.
The launch pads, which I described as "RNG" in my previous video (youtube.com/watch?v=iQ-nigfC3sU) seem to be based on entrance speed and angle. However, I would still argue they are "basically RNG". I managed to get somewhat consistent at the third launchpad in this run, but the first and second one are close to impossible to "line up".
The biggest improvement from previous records is the final "planet" where I skip rolling down the ruler before the silver chain chomp by jumping on its edge. This is somewhat precise as the ruler pulls you into its chute (?) if you get close.
I managed to get a 1:09 after grinding this level for a few hours. After this I analyzed the video and decided that a solid humanly viable goal would be a 1:08. I tried for this for a total of maybe 5 hours, and then out of nowhere this run happened. I skipped 1:08, I skipped 1:07 and I almost skipped 1:06. Considering the launch pads were all quite solid, I didn't do any mistakes and the final section turned out better than I ever imagined it would I feel very satisfied with this run.
This beats the old record by about 7.5 seconds. I hope you enjoy!Super Mario Galaxy 2: Rolling Masterpiece Galaxy - Green Star 1 [38.45]Pottoww2021-09-17 | Edit 2021-09-19: This is no longer WR. I will upload an improvement later.
Can this be improved? Yes. Can you get 37? Yes. Do I want to? No. Why not? Because these motion controls suck, the final planet sucks and you can lose up to two seconds on RNG from the launch pads which happens 90% of all attempts. Enjoy.Super Mario Galaxy 2: Freezy Flake Galaxy - Green Star 2 [43.91]Pottoww2021-09-16 | This could probably be improved by at least half a second from optimizing the first planet (~0.2 seconds) and the pipe planet a bit more, but I got sub 44 and considering how much I don't enjoy speedrunning Freezy Flake I am going to settle with this.
This beats the old WR by about 1.5 seconds. Also, I completely skipped 44. Enjoy!Super Mario Galaxy 2: Freezy Flake Galaxy - Green Star 1 [24.11]Pottoww2021-09-16 | Alright, first of all: My description in the Bowser on Ice star (youtube.com/watch?v=xtAi11nbbOE) is very wrong. The slide clip does save about 0.5 seconds even with Luigi, something I very easily found out once I started experimenting with Green Star 1. So, I apologize for spreading misinformation.
Secondly, this run is insane. As you can see on my best time when entering the star I had a 24.35 from before. That run was good, and I would have been satisfied with it if it wasn't that I had accidentally recorded it with my stream layout instead of my video layout. Therefore I tried to improve it. My goal on stream was to get a 24.2X but I told my viewers that I honestly would be satisfied with even a tie to the 24.35 considering how good it was. I did attempts for a couple of hours (getting a 24.38 as my best) and then this happened out of nowhere, skipping 24.2X completely.
I have never been faster off of the first planet and I have no idea how I managed this, beating my "normal" time by about .2 seconds. After that the rest of the level went pretty much perfectly.
I feel very satisfied with this time and feel no need to improve it further. I hope you enjoy!Super Mario Galaxy 2: Honeybloom Galaxy - Green Star 2 [1:03.98]Pottoww2021-09-15 | Finally it is time for my Green Star 2 run of Honeybloom Galaxy. The final section with the bee suit is actually surprisingly tricky to optimize, which is part of the reason why this attempt took so long to get.
The first section up until the berries is solid, but probably about 0.1-0.2 seconds slower than my best ever time at that point. The second half of the stage went extremely well though.
This star uses some different routing to get past the choppah at the end. In my Bumble Beginnings run (youtube.com/watch?v=pT3w7OsfFgk) I did a mid-air spin to clear the distance to set up for my back flip. However, in this star it is faster to not spin in the air as you are longjumping into the bee suit. The tricky part is still to come, though, as getting an optimized land, stamina refill and jump off of the log holding the swing is harder than it looks and destroyed a lot good attempts for me. Oh well, here we are and I did finally manage to get my sub 1:04.
This run beats the old record by about 3.5 seconds. Enjoy!Super Mario Galaxy 2: Freezy Flake Galaxy - Bowser on Ice [51.96]Pottoww2021-09-08 | Alright, so this is apparently an IL I have done now as well. There are a few points to make about this level.
First off, the beginning planet was a pain to optimize. The way I settled on doing it was to longjump through the fire flower and shoot a fire ball by the edge of the planet. This was a pain to get consistent for a couple of hours until my so called muscle memory kicked in and teached me how to do it properly.
For the second planet it might look slow for me to not go in a straight line to the Bowser statue (which you can, by going over the peak of the hill). However, due to the increased falling time I didn't manage to cut any time from the route I ended up using, and this was more reliable due to straight controller stick inputs. Destroying the Bowser statue went extremely well in this run and I even had speed coming out of it, causing this to be fastest I had ever gotten into the pipe slide. Note that the slide clip that you normally see in Any% does in fact not seem to be faster when doing ILs using Luigi.
Now we come to the part of the run that is "unoptimal", being the slow jump before the longjump to the second fire flower. When exiting the pipe slide you are immediately pulled down to the ground. You can not spin during this fall and if you jump when leaving the pipe your momentum is immediately interrupted once you shift gravity. Therefore, the route I worked out was one where I exited the pipe in a way that would allow me to simply drop on top of the middle structure to set up for a longjump. This has an issue though - it's extremely precise. When you get it you normally land on the very edge of the platform, which removes your momentum. I therefore had to run for a few frames to jump up to the next section and longjump from there. I do, however, want to make it clear that you can land on this platform in a way that doesn't take away your momentum, but during my 4 hours of attempts I managed to get this twice, causing me to accept this sub 32 run without it.
The final section of the IL went very smoothly. After landing on the fire flower I immediately backflip, spin to destroy the two snow blocks and longjump into the pipe. After this it's all about destroying the final Bowser statue as fast as possible and finish the level. I have no complaints regarding how this went.
This IL beats the previous record (53.06) by 1.1 second. I hope you enjoy!Super Mario Galaxy 2: Honeybloom Galaxy - Green Star 1 [45.40]Pottoww2021-09-05 | With the help of my route from my Bumble Beginnings run (youtube.com/watch?v=pT3w7OsfFgk) I figured I should tackle the two green stars as well. This is the first result of my efforts, cutting over five seconds from the previous record from 2010.
For the climb I got a better run this time than I did for my Bumble Beginnings run. The route didn't change at all, but I optimized it a bit more with more tight movement and less time in the air. For the bee section I tried to find a route that didn't require me to slow down at all, and I came across this one where the two coins I grab combined with the boosted single jump on the cloud gave me just enough stamina to only take one bounce on the small berry up to the star, while also not having to turn back at all.
I hope you enjoy!Super Mario Galaxy 2: Honeybloom Galaxy - Bumble Beginnings [1:31.01]Pottoww2021-09-02 | This IL was heavily influenced by PurpleSun's two TAS'es of the level (youtube.com/watch?v=HP8BeKdP6DY & youtube.com/watch?v=7UL0mMjUSrE) and actually beats his Mario TAS by about half a second.
Bumble Beginnings is a very technical level with a lot of precise timings and movement. My initial goal for the level was to get a sub 1:35, but after optimizing it a bit further with the help of the Mario TAS linked above my new goal was a 1:32.XX. I got the 1:32.10, said on stream "I might improve this once more by adding an extra sideflip that I am not consistent with" and within two attempts I got this. This went very well and I don't feel like there are any "mistakes" in the run, and any potential improvements would be down to movement optimizations.
This level beats Nemi's old WR from 2012 by over 10 seconds. Most of this time save comes from the end strat, however, as doing the final part bee-less saves approximately 6-7 seconds.
I hope you enjoy!Super Mario Galaxy 2: Throwback Galaxy - Green Star 3 [17.75]Pottoww2021-08-27 | This is by far one of the most difficult individual stars I have optimized. I put about 15 hours into grinding this as soon as I had developed the best humanly reliable route. I am fairly sure this won't go down by much unless a new way of optimizing the star is found.
The triple jump instant pull-up in the beginning is 100% consistent as long as you keep your control stick angle somewhat towards the wall. I then triple jump again to get enough height to be able to slide jump to the platform in the middle (a backflip does not achieve this). The slide jump is extremely angle-specific and potentially frame perfect.
After spinning to the cloud flower I perform a frame perfect cloud boosted longjump to the cloud platform to retain my speed after landing. Going here skips creating a new cloud platform when longjumping out towards the void, which would cause you to lose time as it removes all your momentum. I then cloud boost out "blindly" towards the star, create a new cloud that I interrupt with Z and longjump to grab the star.
I am super happy (and proud) of this new IL route and hope you enjoy it!Super Mario Galaxy 2: Throwback Galaxy - Whomp Silver Star Speed Run [46.96]Pottoww2021-08-22 | This star is almost identical to "Silver Stars in the Whomp Fortress". The main difference you will notice in this run compared to the previous upload is that I watch the intro cutscene a bit longer. The reason behind this is that the cycles for the moving platforms is slightly different compared to the "original" star.
Besides that, this is a very similar run to the previous upload (youtube.com/watch?v=b1q6KbS8SE4). Hope you enjoy!Super Mario Galaxy 2: Throwback Galaxy - Silver Stars in the Whomp Fortress [46.91]Pottoww2021-08-22 | I wanted to improve upon Packattack's previous record (youtube.com/watch?v=SmAwPs_cvvQ) and remove the necessity for a non-moving cloud creation before the long jump behind the fortress.
Initially I tried to just do a boosted longjump from in front of the boxes, but due to the camera change and the way the game works in general I didn't manage to perform a single long jump that gave me the distance needed to traverse the entire gap. I also attempted the TAS route (youtube.com/watch?v=CiCIq_-NMUA) but figured it wasn't viable for humans, at least for me in this very moment. However, I did get rid of the non-moving cloud creation by jumping outside of the fence and boost my longjump from there.
I initially set my goal for a low 47 but quickly realized I could get a 46 with somewhat optimized movement.
This is super improvable but I am happy with the result. Hope you enjoy!Dispersio Speedrun - Any% (Normal) in 16:25.266 (World Record)Pottoww2021-04-20 | This run sucked. Will improve.
Easy time saves in a lot of places after the improved gameplay that came from the individual level runs. I use most new tricks and skips from the individual levels, but not all. My goal for this category is to get an in game time of under 15 minutes and 30 seconds.Super Mario Galaxy 2: Mario Squared Galaxy - Make Mario a Star [39.56]Pottoww2021-02-12 | AltarOfDelirium beat my old record for this level. So I took it back. This can be improved, but it is a pain to do this level optimally, and I feel satisfied to beat my old PB by more than a second (wow, I was bad back in the days).
Not too much to say about this level. Your long jumps have to be perfect so you don't lose time when landing (can be done by crouching and jumping one frame apart, and release the crouch before landing). Your turns also have to be tight and without interruption. Had a couple of "bad" corners in this run and my final long jump was slightly off, but as I said, I feel pleased with the result.Dispersio - Boss Fight in 48.373Pottoww2021-02-02 | I pretty much reinvented all movement used for this boss fight. The only thing consistent with my old runs is starting in the bottom left corner. I manage to early cycle all attacks (besides the random one, because yes, it's random) and managed to cut pretty much 10 seconds off of the final phase.
Total IGT for all levels comes down to 14 minutes, 50 seconds and 836 hundreds. I do not want to go for sub 15, as some of these levels have strategies I will not use for full game runs, but a lower half 15 minute is definitely doable.Dispersio - Space Station in 1:10.537Pottoww2021-02-01 | This is the most frustrated I have ever been while speedrunning an individual level. There are basically no strats that are different from a full game run besides not using the walls in the room before the upside down falling section. Had a goal set on sub 1:10, which is achievable, but after spending more than 3 hours on getting frustrated this run came around and I decided to stop. Hope you enjoy!Dispersio - Mountain in 1:07.528Pottoww2021-01-30 | The fall sections can definitely be improved by a second, but other than that this is a pretty easy and simple level to complete. The room where you have to proceed under the pillars while dodging lasers is extremely precise in this run, but that is pretty much the only difficult strategy in the level.Dispersio - Arctic in 1:48.071Pottoww2021-01-30 | The first room with bats can be done about one second faster, but it relies on strategies I just could not get consistent. As with all Dispersio levels this one also comes down to precise movement and tight jumps. The bats at the end has always been the worst room in the game for me, but I have finally managed to come up with a fast and consistent strategy for it.Dispersio - Sewers in 1:39.746Pottoww2021-01-28 | A lot of extremely tight movement in this one. Both of the bat/laser rooms are very exact and easy to fail, and a lot of the drops comes down to precise timing. Key movement in this level is gravity, and a lot comes down to changing it as soon as possible. Improved my previous PB by less than 0.1 seconds.Dispersio - Catacombs in 1:45.702Pottoww2021-01-26 | Pretty simple IL. Compared to my old Any% strategies I improved the room with the fast moving platforms and included the frame perfect (?) snake jump in the room after it. I hope you enjoy!Dispersio - Caves in 1:27.252Pottoww2021-01-26 | This level is quite difficult to speedrun optimally as every single double jump needs to be timed. I tried to get past the snakes by the end faster by timing my jumps and jump over them in between the snakes and the spikes without success. The jump in between the three bats is extremely precise, probably the most precise trick in this game so far. I hope you enjoy!Dispersio - Egypt in 1:43.421Pottoww2021-01-24 | Egypt was the next stage on the list. This one really got on my nerves as it is very simple yet so frustrating when run after run is lost due to punching or jumping too early. Not too much has changed from my old Any% runs when it comes to tricks performed, except a few changes here and there to speed things up as well as a new way to beat the room with the four snakes just before the slow platform. By waiting just a tiny bit in between one of the jumps you can jump up in between the snakes and go over them to land in the corner. This is quite precise, but easy to do if you learn the timing for it.Dispersio - Factory in 1:18.700Pottoww2021-01-23 | Managed to find "consistent" strategies for all the rooms in this level. When Achpile did his latest update he removed frame variation from the game, meaning that every room is nowadays the same from entering it every single time. Factory is very precise in a lot of places when speedrunning it, so it took me some time to get used to all the strategies throughout the level.Dispersio - Castle in 2:01.506Pottoww2021-01-22 | Achpile implemented leaderboards and practice timers into his latest update of the original Dispersio so I decided to grind some levels. My personal best before this run was a 2:01.810 and it felt sloppy in some parts. This run turned out much better. This is not perfect by any means, but I am doubtful that sub 2 minutes is possible with current strategies. A 2:00.XXX is the best I can currently see this time being pushed to.
My normal way of capturing has broken down so I have to use other software. Unfortunately this software compresses the video in a weird way. Hope the quality feels good enough to watch.Punch-Out!! (Wii) - Bear Hugger (Title Defense) in 1:32.79 (Former World Record)Pottoww2020-11-10 | Got this time after 37 minutes of "real" attempts. Title Defense Bear Hugger is different from other fights due to the his attacks being based on solid in game time and not pace. Your attempt can vary a lot up until the third phase and still tie the record.
Zallard1 did a good job explaining this fight in his video (youtube.com/watch?v=WBmHQeoVJdo) so I will keep it short. Basically the only "frame perfect" inputs you have to do in this fight are the final hook that Bear blocks as well as the dodge to stun him in the end before the star punch. Shout outs to Zallard for the strategy to get the frame perfect dodge at the end, as well as all the buffers to make this fight a matter of purely learning it, and almost nothing about actual timing, haha.
For some weird reason my capture card or my computer has decided to start dropping frames in the middle of my videos. It is very rare and not that bad though so I don't really mind. Hope you enjoy!
If you are interested in my live streams you can find my channel here: http://www.twitch.tv/pottowwSuper Mario Galaxy 2: Spin-Dig Galaxy - Silver Stars Down Deep [1:38.40]Pottoww2020-10-04 | I legit hate the vine by now.
Once again, I thought to myself "I should continue by getting rid of the other vine star". Do not ask me how my brain works, as this has been a pain. Based on the vine itself, this can still go down in between 0.5-1 second, but I do not feel motivated to grind it out myself.
All 2D sections in this star has some precise movement that has killed multiple attempts. The hitboxes for the silver stars at the end are also awful and often don't seem to line up with their visual placement (they probably do in some weird way). I missed the first star several times when drilling through it, which made me incredibly annoyed.
It is difficult to see or time what the optimal strategy for the 2D sections are, but I feel pretty confident with the way I moved through them in this attempt. Doing wallkicks and backjumps seem to not save too much time from just running, but as far as I could tell it seems to be the faster option.Super Mario Galaxy 2: Spin-Dig Galaxy - Green Star 3 [22.88]Pottoww2020-10-02 | Decided to improve one of my old times and for some reason thought it would be a good idea to start with this star. The growing vine takes all fun out of the level as it is completely RNG if it will waste you up to 2 seconds or not.
The vine in this attempt is not perfect, as I have had one attempt that was maybe .2-.3 seconds faster going into the pipe. However, I failed that attempt. As you also can see in the video, I in fact tied my already achieved time during this run. This was after about 2 hours of further attempts, trying to improve it.
This is beatable, but I am not sure it can go under 22 seconds. And if you want to beat it you will have to rely on the vine giving you amazing luck. Therefore, I feel like I am happy with this time for now and will only come back to the star if I get beaten again. This beats the old record by 0.73 seconds.[World Record - 20.930 Points] Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Fluffy Bluff Galaxy - Chimp’s Stomp ChallengePottoww2020-10-01 | Thought I could find a way to grab the final coin from AltarOfDelirium's previous record, and managed to do just that with a precise wallkick. With a perfect runthrough of this strategy I estimate that you can have about 5 seconds left on the timer at the end.
The next step for this would potentially be to connect the enemies on top of the bridge to the 4 octoombas below it. This would, however, require you to either get from the bottom to the top with a wallkick, spingrabbing the coins at the bottom as you go, or run all the way back to the goomba furthest back and go down again from there. Both of these methods seemed to take too long, however, causing you to not have time to finish the route.
I hope you enjoy![World Record - 18.000 Points] Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Honeyhop Galaxy - The Chimps Score ChallengePottoww2020-09-30 | I found another way to improve my record from yesterday by another 300 points. This really makes the timing precise and eliminates pretty much all room for error. Theoretically I believe you could get another 200 points by spin-grabbing all coins on the left circle of octoombas at the top, walljump the wall behind it, go over, wall jump again and hit the lonely octoomba at the bottom. However, from my testing the time was not enough and the trick itself is very precise, but doable.
The way this minigame works is that you get points from killing enemies, either by jumping or spinning them. Spins grant you some starbits, worth 10 points per piece, while killing them with a bounce grants you a coin, worth 100 points. You also get bonus points for connecting the octoombas together without touching the ground in between, giving you a total of 300 points for each kill after three bounces.
I am very happy with this run as it is as high as I can see the score going, and it also felt very clean with good and precise movement. I won't try to optimize this further until someone else has proven a better strategy to be doable. Also it feels very nice to hit that sweet 18000 barrier after all these years!
I hope you enjoy![17.700 Points] Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Honeyhop Galaxy - The Chimps Score ChallengePottoww2020-09-28 | I found a way to improve the existing world record by 300 points, simply by connecting some more of the octoombas spread around the map. I couldn't find a way to connect even more of the enemies together and even if I could the time window to get this is already extremely small, as I wasted about 2-3 seconds on mistakes in this attempt and barely got it at the end.
The way this minigame works is that you get points from killing enemies, either by jumping or spinning them. I have spent hours trying to optimize movement throughout the level to make it possible to get this score. You could probably finish the point collection while still having about 3-5 seconds on your timer, if played flawlessly. I made two "real" mistakes total, namely missing the side flip after connecting the second floor and bottom floor octoombas, as well as missing the coin at the very end.
I hope you enjoy!Punch-Out!! (Wii) - Von Kaiser (Contender) in 18.93 (Tied World Record)Pottoww2020-09-19 | I already achieved this time back in 2015, but I decided to get it again and re-upload with an improved video quality to match my other fights.
Kaiser is also completed now and Don is the only one left to get an improved video by me (do not expect this soon). This fight is pretty straight forward but it actually took me almost 40 minutes to achieve the WR time again. Unfortunately, there are no buffers for the star punch even with the recently discovered quick dodges.
If you are interested in my live streams you can find my channel here: http://www.twitch.tv/pottowwPunch-Out!! Decided to go for uploading my old records with better quality and Glass Joe was the first obvious fight to take on. With the new buffer for the final punch this has gone down to a 3 timed inputs fight. Getting this time again took me exactly 20 minutes, including having some struggle with timing the quick dodges for like 15 minutes.
Next up is Kaiser and Don!

Not too much to say about this fight as it is pretty straight forward.

(Wii) - Great Tiger (Contender) in 42.16 (World Record)Pottoww2020-07-14 | The best possible time for this fight is 41.92, so I lost 4 frames total during 17 timed inputs (each frame is 0.06 in game time).
This fight is very difficult to determine your pace on, as visual cues for the different punches are extremely difficult to see and/or learn. I had lost 1-2 frames already in the first knockdown.
This is likely the most "difficult optimization" I have completed in a fight so far and it took me a total of 27 hours of grinding attempts.

(Wii) - Bald Bull (Contender) in 32.24 (Former World Record)Pottoww2020-06-29 | The TAS for this fight is 32.08, meaning I lost a total of 0.16 in game seconds over the best possible time. Half of this, 0.08, comes from me losing 0.06 at the first buffer and 0.02 at the last buffer. I did however implement these buffers into the run as there are 13 timed inputs throughout the fight anyway, and helping me with two of them for the cost of 0.08 felt like an acceptable trade.
This fight beats the old record by KefkaMayDie by 0.43 in game seconds. His run was better than this one however, based purely on optimization, as we have since discovered 0.54 worth of time save by delaying the three star punches.

(Wii) - Bear Hugger (Contender) in 26.70 (Tied World Record)Pottoww2020-06-16 | Had a total of six 26.76 before hitting this, as well as 31 sub 27 finished fights. Feels good to cross this off and move on to World Circuit or Title Defense matches as all Minor- and Major Circuit Contender fights have now been accomplished (besides Great Tiger that will get updated in the future when someone beats my current record).

(Wii) - Aran Ryan (Title Defense) in 42.03 (Tied World Record)Pottoww2020-06-13 | This fight was quite easy and fast to get down to perfection. There are a total of 6 timed punches within the fight, and most if it feels like a rhythm, making it somewhat simple to time.

(Wii) - Piston Hondo (Contender) in 33.76 (World Record)Pottoww2020-06-12 | Managed to cut the two final frames off the fight. The day after the 33.88 I managed to get a 33.82 that I didn't upload to Youtube, and two days after (today) I managed to get this frame perfect 33.76. No more time can be taken off, so it feels good leaving this fight now!

(Wii) - Piston Hondo (Contender) in 33.88 (Former World Record)Pottoww2020-06-09 | Two frames from perfect. Beat the previous record by LeeA1 by one frame, but this is after I found a two frame improvement for the fight, meaning his run is still one frame further optimized compared to this new record. Will try to improve to 33.76.
What I discovered when doing attempts on this fighter is that letting the intro cutscene play improves your final time by two frames. We are not certain what causes this, at the moment.

(Wii) - Great Tiger (Contender) in 42.76 (Former World Record)Pottoww2020-04-28 | I can probably optimize this another half a second quite "easily", but as this will be a battle between me and Mysteryman I decided to stop here and pass it on for him to beat. A frame perfect fight would be 41.92 or 41.98 depending on cutscene frames (literally RNG that you can not control or know until after the fight is done) so there is still a long way to go. The fight is quite tough to time with your punches however, as Tiger is mostly not even visible.
If you are interested in my live streams you can find my channel here: http://www.twitch.tv/pottowwPunch-Out!! (Wii) - Disco Kid (Contender) in 27.42 (Tied World Record)Pottoww2020-04-26 | I decided to go for a frame perfect Disco Kid a few days ago. 1.5 years ago I managed to get a 27.48 (one frame away from perfect/WR) and it was now time to get rid of that frame. It took me a total of 18.5 hours of grinding, live on my Twitch channel, before I finally pulled off this time. During all those hundreds (thousands?) of attempts, I also got 7 more 27.48 times.
This fight requires a total of 10 frame perfect inputs (the game runs at 60 fps) and they all have to be timed as there are no buffer strategies to rely on.
With this fight being optimized from my end I got to be the only person in the world who had all world records for a circuit... Until Mysteryman tied the King Hippo and also made it in only 4 hours later. Oh well, time for me to move onto other fights!

This causes issues for speedruns and should therefore be regulated.
I was aware of this from the very beginning of my IL runs, and therefore I tried to use the pause as little as possible throughout all my runs.Dampé’s Shack: The Supreme Shape in 23.99 (Links Awakening)Pottoww2020-04-17 | Forgot to jump the stairs before the boss, and therefore tried to improve this run for another hour without success (getting this clean of a bossfight seems hard). This is the final IL for Dampé's Shack, now it's time to wait and see if people will beat me. If someone does, I might come back to compete (not a guarantee by any means).Dampé’s Shack: Skull Arrangement in 2:15.37 (Links Awakening)Pottoww2020-04-17 | I messed up one of the dashes (because moving during dashes is stupid) but all the enemies and the bosses cooperated FOR ONCE, so I won't cry over the one (major) mistake.
I could get a better underground room to improve the time, but I didn't feel like bothering after I got this one (which is like, the 4th best one or something).Dampé’s Shack: Treasure Hoard in 1:27.51 (Links Awakening)Pottoww2020-04-16 | Not hard at all, but so many rooms so it becomes difficult to have a 100% clean run. Had some minor mistakes.Dampé’s Shack: Nothin but Stairs in 1:04.43 (Links Awakening)Pottoww2020-04-16 | This is a super annoying level to optimize, only due to the puzzle behind it. I can guarantee this is not the best layout you could do, but it felt good enough for me at this point, as I spent a couple hours figuring it out.
With this layout I would say you are not able to get sub 1 minute.Dampé’s Shack: Zig-Zaggy in 6.08 (Links Awakening)Pottoww2020-04-16 | A bit slower than the other ones with this layout due to the entrance room being a different one. Had 6.09 for a long time but managed to pull this one off, so here you go!
