In this video, we'll take a look at EMD E9A locomotive BN-3 on the point of the Railway Post Office demonstration train at the Illinois Railway Museum.
Based In Union, Illinois, the IRM considers themselves a "demonstration-type" museum, showing the visitors different methods of travel and operations from the past. One of the things they demonstrate is how US Postal Service utilized the railroads until the mid 1970s. They show the timeless scene of a train racing past a station, dropping its mailbag and retrieving one from the trackside post.
