Our party of mercenaries led by the mischievous Akira Poirot (the one white fox sitting on the upper left deck seen in this image) had finally returned safe to her "dearest" captain's ship, the infamous and fearsome, Crystal Voyager. Akira is the ambassador of this ship. The captain, B. Kastella (the elruan/ purple cat on the left), whose emotionless words and incredibly ominous aura, joined by her devilish friendly first mate on the right, Deltavora (corvum/ purple crow with pink dress and bowties) with the rest of her fancy looking crew of pirates and butlers, greet the party politely at their arrival. Starting to tap into each of the party members desires to see if they decide to join or not this mysterious ship ... Who will stay? Who will leave? We shall see as things progress for each of our characters.I created this theme with the intent to give an energy of dangerous playfulness, this is a pirate crew after all, and you don't wanna mess with a pirate crew now, do you? Since Akira is a bard, my headcanon is that she is the one humming while also providing the accordion sections, giving this vibe I described prior. Meanwhile the organ sections with unsettling pads go more into Kastella's character, while also adding this soft sad oboe that might represent the tragic aspect of being part of a crew that we might not know yet. The end result has to be one of the most satisfying pieces from start to finish in a while, so I can confidently call this a success. One was the main one and the other is a side story which events ended up affecting the main one. This theme is for the side story, maybe I'll also post one day the theme I did for the main one here. The party members from left to right are:Akira, the clever cold white vulpin pirate Bard (Fox). She is the leader of this group of mercenaries that she hired.Arch, the cannibalistic wildlife raptor Warlock (Raptor).Flint, who I play, the nerdy nervous mapach Gunslinger (Raccoon).Cinder, the kind and soft spoken jerbeen Sorceress (Bunny).Aodh, the amnesiac absent minded vulpin Rogue (Fox).After two sessions from what was supposed to be a one-shot, made me reflect about how conflicting and chaotic these mix of alignments were for a party like this one, and yet they managed to pull out the insane mission of starting a revolution that will affect the main campaign of ours. If anything, this group might be seen as the villains for the main story due to the opposite alignments one party share to the other. So I really wanted to make a piece that could capture the themes of corruption but not make it entirely sorrowful, more like, a "noir" heist theme if you catch my drift. And so, after several attempts, I ended up with a mix of tango stirred up with some of that sweet jazz percussion. And then I needed a title that could could match the bombastically elegant music for it, and what a better name than perfume spraying some of that good ol' gunpowder at your face. Poetic and killer at the same time, awww yeah. Thus you can really see why I choose to commission a Cowboy Bebop style for this pic, which I loved to death, I've got some great friends with some pretty sweet art man, you should definitely commission them.And here we are, original music that I'm actually kinda proud of, not much into the mixing, as usual, but there was some strong composing game going on here. I hope you guys don't mind of me posting some more DnD inspired music in the near future. But I am also mindful of the other kinds of music that you guys wanna hear and don't worry, those won't be going anywhere at all. Anyhow, I hope you enjoy and before anyone asks, for the very first time: no, you don't have permission to use this track as you please for any purpose because it's a pretty personal project to me.
