Lyrics:
He rolled up in his Nova like It was 1975
He had his old pal Gene, shotgun, by his side
They’d talk local politics and the Celtics as we’d ride
On torn and tattered leather, I’d sink down low and hide
From the worries and the sorrows that I felt in this young life
But when I was with my grandfather somehow it seemed alright
I was sent off with him and told I’d better learn how to behave
I was taught all that and more
Amongst the Chesterfields and aftershave
We drove straight for the local
We didn’t travel far
There, I’d sit up nice and tall
And have my chips and my soda at the bar
If you could come back now
And we could take a drive around
And I could play you this song
You’d probably say it’s way too loud
If you could come back now
If you were out there in the crowd
You’d know that I turned out okay
And I
I hope I’d make you proud
I hope I’d make you proud
And I wish that you were there with me in October of ‘04
On that field in St. Louis, something we’d never seen before
And I wish you could’ve been there to meet and know my kids
And tell ‘em all about the funny, crazy things we did
We drove straight for the local
We didn’t travel far
There, I’d sit up nice and tall
And have my chips and my soda at the bar
If you could come back now
And we could take a drive around
And I could play you this song
You’d probably say it’s way too loud
If you could come back now
If you were out there in the crowd
You’d know that I turned out okay
And I
I hope I’d make you proud
I hope I’d make you proud
I’d say I’ve come a long way since the days you left this world
When I descended into madness and the tragedy unfurled
Yeah, this one really hurt, It really cut me to the bone
Knocked me down and knocked me out
It made me question everything I’ve ever known
He rolled up in his Nova like It was 1975
He had his old pal Gene, shotgun, by his side
If you could come back now
If we could take a drive around
And I could play you this song
I know you’d say “I like it loud”
If you could come back now
If you were out there in the crowd
You’d know that I turned out okay
And I
I hope I’d make you proud
I hope I’d make you proud
I hope I’d make you proud

Lyrics
Throughout centuries in every country
We’ve faced the wrath and felt the pain
Of the tyrant’s sword or the henchman’s boot
For another rich man’s gain
In the endless quest for wealth and power
They stomp us down with great disdain
Beneath the false god’s banner
In the name of all that’s vain
Through crime and crusade
Our labor, it’s been stolen
We’ve been robbed of our freedom
We’ve been held down and beholden
To the bosses and bankers
Who never gave their share
Of any blood
Of any sweat
Of any tears
Who’ll stand with us?
Don’t tell us everything is fine
Who’ll stand with us?
Because this treatment is a crime
The working people fuel the engine
While you yank the chain
We fight the wars and build buildings
For someone else’s gain
So tell me
Who will stand with us?
And as time rolls on
Not a single thing has changed
the wealth gap’s only grown
As we all point the blame
We’re at the throats of one another
Though we share a single fate
And the golden few laugh on and on
As we all take the bait
Through crime and crusade
Our labor, it’s been stolen
We’ve been robbed of our freedom
We’ve been held down and beholden
To the bosses and bankers
Who never gave their share
Of any blood
Of any sweat
Of any tears
Who’ll stand with us?
Don’t tell us everything is fine
Who’ll stand with us?
Because this treatment is a crime
The working people fuel the engine
While you yank the chain
We fight the wars and build buildings
For someone else’s gain
So tell me
Who will stand with us?
Through crime and crusade
Our labor, it’s been stolen
We’ve been robbed of our freedom
We’ve been held down and beholden
Who’ll stand with us?
Don’t tell us everything is fine
Who’ll stand with us?
Because this treatment is a crime
The working people fuel the engine
While you yank the chain
We fight the wars and build buildings
For someone else’s gains
So tell me
Who will stand with us?
So tell me
Who will stand with us?

SIRENS lyrics:
Our life and times have been maligned
Workin’ three jobs at a time
When you’re uninsured and you can’t save
How can you provide without a living wage?
If you wanna screw me look me in the eye
When you turn a solemn promise to a blatant lie
One thing I’ll never comprehend
Is how they turn us on our sisters, brothers, children
Neighbors, strangers, and friends
The billionaire profits
While the worker bleeds
1% of the wealth
Hoards from millions in need
We’re fighting for the scraps
We struggle and suffer
We’re falling for the trap
We’re turning on each other
We’re turning on each other
We’re turning on each other
It takes money to make it, you did shit on your own
You were born into this, you were handed the throne
Generational wealth, a great gig if you got it
Keep us all down for a little more profit
Once hope is gone the will disappears
It’s the master plan, they’ve been at it for years
It’s the final stage, this is how it ends
When they turn us on our sisters, brothers, children
Neighbors, strangers, and friends
The billionaire profits
While the worker bleeds
1% of the wealth
Hoards from millions in need
We’re fighting for the scraps
We struggle and suffer
We’re falling for the trap
We’re turning on each other
We’re turning on each other
We’re turning on each other
One thing...
I’ll never comprehend...
One thing I’ll never comprehend
Is how they turn us
On our sisters, on our brothers
On children, on strangers
On neighbors and friends
The billionaire profits
While the worker bleeds
1% of the wealth
Hoards from millions in need
We’re fighting for the scraps
We struggle and suffer
We’re falling for the trap

The band always intended to revisit the Guthrie archive and create more songs, but didn’t get the chance until April 2022. They recorded two albums, This Machine Still Kills Fascists (2022) and Okemah Rising (2023), in Tulsa, Oklahoma, going fully acoustic for the first time as a tribute to Guthrie. The project also led to their first seated theater tour.
"This Machine Rising" tells the story of Dropkick Murphys' journey with Woody Guthrie's lyrics, focusing on the Tulsa sessions, the theater tour, and the enduring power of music and words to unite the working class and promote equity.

Lyrics:
I’ll take this jug of Drinkin’ Juice
I’ll bust it on the wall
I’ll stay sober the rest of my days
Never touch the stuff at all
I’ll never touch the stuff at all
How many times you promised me
You’d never drink that Juice
I’ve learned 5,000 times or more
To trust you ain’t no use
To trust you ain’t no use
I’ll never get drunk no more, my love
I’ll never get drunk no more
I’ll never walk into that barroom door
I’ll never get drunk no more
I’ll never get drunk anymore
Oh please, my dear, open up your heart
And open up your gate
Open up your door, so locked and barred
Please give me one more date
Please give me one more date
Ten million times you broke my heart
With a bottle in your hand
Don’t wanna make love to a bottle
I wanna make love to my man
I wanna make love to my man
I’ll never get drunk no more, my love
I’ll never get drunk no more
I’ll never walk into that barroom door
I’ll never get drunk no more
I’ll never get drunk anymore
Oh please, my dear, open up your heart
And open up your gate
My doors are locked and you are barred
You ain’t gettin’ no more dates
You ain’t gettin’ no more dates
I’ll never get drunk no more, my love
I’ll never get drunk no more
I’ll never walk into that barroom door
I’ll never get drunk no more
I’ll never get drunk no more, my love
I’ll never get drunk no more
I’ll never walk into that barroom door
I’ll never get drunk no more
I’ll never get drunk anymore
