This was Brian Auger's proper solo debut album. It's billed to Brian Auger & the Trinity, but Julie Driscoll, who sang with Brian Auger & the Trinity on the act's most popular and best late-'60s recordings, is not present. Auger dominates the record not just with his organ, but also as composer of most of the original material, and as the vocalist.
The CD reissue has a bonus track, "What You Gonna Do?," of undisclosed origin; it's a standard Brian Auger soul-rock original, taken from a vinyl source by the sound of things, as surface noise can be heard.
Tracklist
1.- Day In The Life
2.- George Bruno Money
3.- Far Horizon
4.- John Brown's Body
5.- Red Beans And Rice
6.- Bumpin' On Sunset
7.- If You Live
8.- Definitely What!
- bonus tracks:
9.- What You Gonna Do
10.- Red Beans And Rice Part. 1
11.- Red Beans And Rice Part. 2

![Espionage: the Very Best of the James Taylor Quartet
Metros 2001 compilation Espionage: The Very Best of the James Taylor Quartet collects much of the best of the James Taylor Quartets recordings from the early 90s, capturing their stylishly funky acid jazz quite well. There are two covers of Booker T. & the MGs Green Onions and Be My Girl some 60s and 70s film and TV covers (Mission Impossible, Blow Up, Theme from Dirty Harry, Starsky and Hutch) and those two extremes pretty much capture what the quartet sounds like: funky soul given a cinematic spin. This well-chosen, well-annotated collection provides a good introduction to their world.
