I believe it's because we are disconnected from our why. If we are simply trying to develop EI and use it as a means to an end, it will not yield the results we are looking for. Additionally, we need to learn how to tap into our essence of being so we can tap into the wisdom that resides within and makes EI make sense.

Today, we're going to expand our awareness by discussing the two parts that create who we are; the ego and the true self. When we realize that the ego is the source of all our emotional suffering and that it runs the lives of 99% of us, we can learn to shift the focus to our true self—the essence of our being which is content and fulfilled.
First, we need to understand how to identify when the ego is calling the shots. - All unpleasant emotions are a product of the ego - Some pleasant emotions are a product of the ego too. We'll discuss how to tell the difference.
The ego wants and is never satisfied. The true self is content, accepting, and longs for nothing.

It's my responsibility, as an EQ practitioner, to PRACTICE what I preach. And during this situation, I failed to fully handle the situation in an emotionally intelligent and compassionate way.
I could have kept this incident to myself and none would be the wiser. However, my conscious will not allow me to get away with that because I don't want to give the false impression that I have my shit together all the time. So when I fail to practice what I preach, I want to share it with you. I feel it is only fair.

Throughout this journey he purposefully studied the leadership/followership dynamic to understand both the illusions and deeper realities of leadership service.
At a point on this journey, while immersed in seeking a more integrated approach to leadership service, the full developmental progression of our growth as a leader began to “emerge” to Brian… who then organized these findings into a unique and practical framework that others can use to develop their own expression of leadership mastery.
The AQ Model of leadership development is detailed in his book, The Leadership Revolution: Because Evolution Takes Too Long. While the fundamentals of our AQ (Awareness Quotient) are illuminated in his groundbreaking book, Our AQ (Awareness Quotient): The Missing Link to Extraordinary Leadership and Life.
As an active Leader in today’s complex healthcare environment, Brian understands the real challenges and the amazing opportunities that these complexities present to us, and he is here to share his practical approach to taking our leadership service to the highest levels.
