An ancient Mayan village is nestled deep within the forest at Sandos Caracol Eco Resort. It is free to tour and is a fun mini adventure for anyone of any age.
The building structures were one of the last created by the Mayans as Spanish Invaders appeared shortly thereafter.
This small area was a trade route village. There are two main structures and a few small structures scattered throughout the area. Let’s have a walk around.Sandos Caracol Eco Resort Review & Tour, Playa del Carmen, Mexico. The Pros: Beautiful Lush Tropical Grounds Cool Selection of Activities Not Found at Other Resorts Assortment of Wildlife including Spider Monkees Small Water Park Good Juice Bar
The Cons Lack of Quality of Food Lack of Quality of Drinks Overbooked Often Hotel App Does Not Function even though your required to use it Poor Wifi Small Pools Cleanliness No Beach Lack of Care from Management Understaffed Often Priced Higher than better resorts nearby
Can I honestly recommend this resort? No. There are so many options in Cancun, Playa Del Carmen, The Riviera Maya and Tulum, that this resort should be ignored. The very few pros outway the cons and the misrepresentation and care is shameful and a black eye on the Sandos Brand.Visiting a Top Secret Nuclear Bunker - will it still operate in a nuclear emergency?Experience This 360 Travel2023-06-14 | In this slide show we showcase a top secret nuclear bunker hidden in the countryside near Canada's capital - Ottawa.
The Diefenbunker is a massive four-storey underground bunker, built between 1959 and 1961. During the Cold War, top officials were to take shelter here in the event of a nuclear war. It was active as Canadian Forces Station Carp until 1994.
Today, it operates as a not-for-profit, charitable museum with award-winning tours and programs.
The Diefenbunker was commissioned by Prime Minister John Diefenbaker in 1959, as part of his government’s reaction to escalating tensions in the Cold War. The purpose of the bunker was to house key members of the government and military in the event of a nuclear attack on Canada.
The safety of its nuclear roof would allow the Canadian government to operate safely underground for 30 days in order to assist with the governance and rebuilding of the country. A series of Emergency Government Headquarters bunkers were built across Canada and, as the largest, the federal government bunker would come to be known as the Central Emergency Government Headquarters (CEGHQ Carp).
When building began in 1959, it was a top-secret operation under the code name Project Emergency Army Signals Establishment (EASE). The former Montgomery farm in Carp was chosen as the perfect site for a 75 foot underground bunker: it was within evacuation distance of downtown Ottawa, it was in a natural valley, and it had the ideal geological conditions for protection.
The bunker was designed and engineered by the Foundation Company of Canada, and the project was led by LCol Ed Churchill. The entire construction process took less than 18 months, and was the first recorded use of critical path construction methodology in Canada. The bunker is 100,000 square feet over four levels. It is made of 32,000 cubic yards of hand –poured concrete and 5,000 tons of steel. It is an extraordinary marvel of engineering, and built to withstand a 5 megaton nuclear blast from 1.8 kilometers away.
The site was completed and began operation in 1961, and remained in continuous operation until it was decommissioned in 1994. During those 32 years, it was also Canadian Forces Station (CFS) Carp, with a staff of 100-150 people and a 24-hour shift rotation. It was the site of some of Canada’s most top-secret communications throughout the Cold War. At all times during its operation, the cupboards and pantries were stocked with enough fresh food and rations to feed 535 people for 30 days and the building was prepared to go into lockdown at any moment.
The Diefenbunker was given National Historic Site status in 1994, and CFS Carp was closed the same year. The building remained empty until the foundation of the museum in 1997.The Truth About All Inclusive Resort Reviews - what review sites can you trust?Experience This 360 Travel2023-04-26 | The Truth About All Inclusive Resort Reviews - what review sites can you trust?

Sandos Playacar is an all-inclusive resort about 1 hour from Cancun. It is a large resort resort with 819 rooms.
The resort is lengthy vertical to the beach, with a lot of uninteresting paved pathways and a tram to take you to the beach. Some hidden away paths offer a jungle like atmosphere, but they don’t lead anywhere.
The lobby is large and isn’t crowded. Check in is pretty simple as they have a lot of staff on hand. Unfortunately, the Sandos resorts rely on an app that you must download to reserve any restaurants. You will note that a lot of the restaurants are booked solid and the app does not work as intended.
The lobby bar was not attended to, and it appeared closed.
The Main Buffet is very good with a variety of food choices that sometimes switch around depending on the day of the week. There are many choices here from fresh Chinese food, BBQ Meats, Mexican Dishes, Pasta and more. The Main Buffet is large, so you will find most anything here and almost all food was fresh and tasty.
The pools are clean, but are not as large as you would expect. They do have swim up bars, but they are understaffed and very crowded.
There is a small children’s waterpark and a small pool for elite members. Upgrades at Sandos Resorts is how they make a lot of money. Depending on the time of year, upgrades can run $60-400 per night for a better room, access to special restaurants and private pools.
The beach is soft white sand that stretches for miles. But there is limited beach chairs so prepare to reserve a spot early.
This beach has been getting sea weed washing up as of late due to changes in sea temperatures world-wide and because of changes and construction along the coasts of Mexico diverting sea weed to places where it normally does not wash up.
Overall this is an average resort with limited activities. They main activity listed is minigolf. It does have a decent coffee-shop called The Cupcake Cafe, and above average food quality and selection. Most rooms are above average, but standard rooms are sometimes reported as in poor condition.
As a resort, it seemed pretty boring. It felt more like a hotel, then a resort. Prices are sometimes average to high, and I would suggest that if you don’t get a smoking deal, look at other resorts nearby.
We give this resort 3.5 stars out of five overall.

Ek Balam is an ancient Mayan City and archaeological site located deep in the Mayan Jungle that has amazingly preserved sculptures, wall motifs, temples, palaces and a very tall pyramid you can climb.
It is located about two hours from either Playa Del Carmen or Cancun and about an hour from the Mayan Site of Chichen Itza.
Due to the distance to the site and the relative size of the current archaeological footprint, Ek Balam gets very few tourists and that makes for a fun, relaxing adventure!
Ek Balam is noted as one of the few places where you can explore all the buildings without being roped off and you can climb the very tall pyramid and look over the Mayan Jungle.
On clear days you can see the pyramids in Coba and Chitchen Itza from the top. Prepare for a breathtaking view!Mesa Verde Colorado 360 VR Travel GuideExperience This 360 Travel2018-09-01 | 360 Video of Mesa Verde and Balcony House, Mesa Verde National Park, Colorado
Over 700 years in the making, Mesa Verde is one of our favorite National Parks and one of the most unique destinations in the State of Colorado offering history, adventure and beauty like none other. On June 29, 1906, President Theodore Roosevelt established Mesa Verde National Park to "preserve the works of man," the first national park of its kind. Today, the continued preservation of both cultural and natural resources is what keeps this treasure alive.
Mesa Verde has over 4,700 archaeological sites including 600 cliff dwellings and the mesa top sites of pithouses, pueblos, masonry towers, and farming structures, with many more yet to be revealed. These sites are some of the most notable and best-preserved dwellings in the United States.
Mesa Verde National Park offers a spectacular look into the lives of the Ancestral Puebloans. For more than 700 years they and their descendants lived and flourished in this region, eventually building elaborate stone communities in the sheltered alcoves of the canyon walls. Then, in the late A.D. 1200s, in the span of a generation or two, they left their homes and moved away.
The cliff dwellings of Mesa Verde are some of the most notable and best-preserved ruins in the North American continent. Sometime during the late 1190s, after primarily living on the mesa top for 600 years, many Ancestral Puebloans began living in pueblos they built beneath the overhanging cliffs. The structures ranged in size from one-room storage units to villages of more than 150 rooms. While still farming the mesa tops, they continued to reside in the alcoves, repairing, remodeling, and constructing new rooms for nearly a century. By the late 1270s, the population began migrating south into present-day New Mexico and Arizona. By 1300, the Ancestral Puebloan occupation of Mesa Verde ended.
Mesa Verde is a discovery of wonder and it is a very popular destination in South West Colorado and we hope this destination guide will inspire you to visit, but also give you some tips on enjoying your stay.
Mesa Verde National Park is famous for the Ancestral Puebloan cliff dwellings constructed within its cliff alcoves. A trip to Mesa Verde would not be complete without a visit to one of these culturally significant sites. While the park is always open, many services and tours have seasonal dates of operation. Lodging, dining and tours all operate on their own schedule and we will provide further details at the end of this destination guide.
There is so much to do and see in Mesa Verde National Park, we don't want you to miss out on anything! Whether you stay in a comfortable guest room in Far View Lodge, or camp in your personal RV or tent in Morefield Campground, or simply go for a drive along its scenic parkway you will be sure to have a memorable experience. The views are spectacular, historic and simply unforgettable.
Tour of Mesa Verde's Cliff Dwelling
It is important to either purchase tickets a day ahead of time at the park or online or very early in the morning. Tours sell out very fast and a lot of tourists didn't even know the only way to see the major sites at Mesa Verde is with a park ranger guide. And the best part of your experience to Mesa Verde will be on one of these guided tours. You will not only be well educated and entertained, you will experience Mesa Verde up-close and personal when you descend down into one of the many cliff dwellings. When you first get to the park entrance you will need to pay for admission. It is only between $15 to $25 per vehicle, depending on the season. This will allow you to travel the 40 miles of roadway, hike, and experience the upper portions of the park which include a museum. Once inside the first thing you want to do if you have not done so already is book your tour. We chose to visit Balcony House, a medium sized cliff dwelling that was the most adventurous. Within 15 minutes of arrival most of the tours throughout the day were already booked with popular ones like Cliff Palace sold out immediately. Our tour was for 11am and we had plenty of time to drive leisurely to all the mesa top sites and enjoy the on site museum. We also managed to squeeze in a mini hike along a cliff top trail before arriving in the designated meeting point for the Balcony House Tour.Great Sand Dunes, Colorado 360 VR Travel GuideExperience This 360 Travel2018-08-28 | Great Sand Dunes National Park, Colorado
The tallest sand dunes in North America are the centerpiece in a diverse landscape of grasslands, wetlands, conifer and aspen forests, alpine lakes, and tundra. Experience this diversity through hiking, sand sledding, splashing in Medano Creek, wildlife watching, and more! The park and preserve are always open, so plan to also experience night skies and nocturnal wildlife during your visit.
In this video we are looking at the sand dunes from the visitors center and then hiking down towards the main dunes. The dunes cover an area of about 30 sq mi and are estimated to contain over 5 billion cubic meters of sand. This is just a glimpse what this park is all about.
Visitors must walk across the wide and shallow Medano Creek to reach the dunes in spring and summer months. The creek typically has a peak flow from late May to early June in most years. From July through April, the creek is usually no more than a few inches deep, if there is any water at all.
Hiking is permitted throughout the dunes with the warning that the sand surface temperature may reach 150°F (66°C) in summer.
Sandboarding and sandsledding are popular activities, both done on specially designed equipment which can be rented just outside the park entrance or in Alamosa.Garden of the Gods, Colorado Springs, Colorado 360 VR Travel GuideExperience This 360 Travel2018-08-28 | Explore Colorado Springs' paradise in one magical stop.
