How To Set Up Sidechain Compression in FL Studio 20 (Beginner Tutorial) FireWalk 2022-10-28 | In this FL Studio beginner tutorial, you'll learn how to set up proper sidechain compression in FL Studio 20. Sidechaining is an important mixing tool that allows you to control the overlap in the low end. By sidechaining your bass, for example, you can ensure that it doesn't overlap with your kick. That way you'll get a much cleaner mix. There are many ways to sidechain in FL Studio, but this is the old-school way with a trigger and a compressor. In this FL Studio beginner tutorial I will show you how to set up a sidechain trigger, and how to use the fruity limiter to duck the volume of the bass, using the kick pattern. Sidechaining can be used for a lot of things, but it's most commonly used for so called volume ducking. In modern EDM almost everything will tend to be sidechained. This allows the main kick to really punch through the mix, and prevents the low-end from sounding muddy or muffled. You can also sidechain other elements in your mix, like pads, leads, strings and so on. A good rule of thumb is to apply very aggressive sidechaining (volume ducking) on low-end elements like your bass, and then use less sidechaining as the frequency of the sound goes up. For example, you don't need to sidechain hats and other high-end elements. Vocals should typically also not be sidechained. Midrange elements on the other hand, like chords and such will typically be somewhat sidechained. How To Stop Ground Loop Noise - ifi GND Defender Review FireWalk 2022-09-23 | Ground loop noise in audio setups is quite common. It's also extremely annoying. Ground loop noise will typically sound like a low frequency hum or buss, or it could sound like electrical noise from your computer. In some cases you can hear GPU noise, noise from your harddrive and so on.In this video I'll review the ifi GND defender, which is a relatively cheap device which will effectively remove ground loops from your system. It can be plugged directly into your computer, at the back of monitors, electric guitar amplifiers and so on. Ground loop noise from speakers, monitors etc is a problem that many music producers and musicians struggle with, because gear and devices will usually be interconnected by signal cables, while at the same time being independently powered. This will induce multiple grounding points in the system, creating the perfect condition for ground loop noise to occur. Unlike those ground lifts, this doesn't try to filter out the noise after it has occurred, which will often result in reduced low-end. Instead, the GND defender prevents the ground loop from occurring in the first place, taking care of the problem at its source instead, which is the ideal thing to do. It is also perfectly safe to use. In the case of an actual electrical fault in your system, the safety of the ground will be preserved. The BEST Way to Automate Master Volume in FL Studio! FireWalk 2022-09-02 | In this video, I will show you how to automate master volume in FL Studio.Master volume automation sounds simple enough, but there are many ways to do this in FL Studio, and unfortunately, many people use it the wrong way. It's not technically "wrong" but the volume automation will be much more efficient if you do it correctly. Volume automation is probably the most essential automation there is for a music producer.You typically want the low-energy sections in your song to be more dynamic and more relaxing than the high-energy sections. If you don't use volume automation correctly, then the low-energy sections will remain heavily compressed even after the master volume automation, which is not ideal because it will make your track sound more fatiguing and less varied when it comes to energy distribution.Not only can this make it sound fatiguing, but it will also make the drop sound less energetic and impactful than it could have been,In this FL Studio beginner tutorial, I will show you the two most common ways to add master volume automation in FL Studio. How to Set Up Audio Trigger for Kickstart 2 in FL Studio (In 92 Seconds!) FireWalk 2022-07-29 | This FL Studio tutorial will show you how to set up audio trigger for kickstart 2 in FL Studio. Kickstart 2 comes with a new audio trigger feature, which makes it much more usable for sidechaining things that are not a typical four-to-the-floor beat. Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 (3rd gen) Review & Loopback Setup FireWalk 2022-07-01 | In this video, I will be doing an honest review and unboxing of the Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 third-generation USB-C audio interface. The Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 is a USB-C-powered audio interface with 4 inputs and 4 outputs. I will show you how to set up this audio interface, and go through all its functions, as well as the software functions, including loopback setup. I'm using FL Studio in this video, but this works in other DAWs too. The Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 3rd gen brings some new and useful features over the previous model. Here are some of the key features:The Scarlett 4i4 (3rd gen) brings a new feature to the Scarlett lineup and that's Loopback. This is a software/digital input that allows you to bring in any software on your computer (ex: Skype for podcast interviews) and record that input onto its own separated channel in your DAW.The third generation Scarlett 4i4 now comes with USB-C as standard. The preamps of the 4i4 have also been improved and provide more gain compared to previous models. The air and pad feature is still there, although it has been moved into the software instead. Whatever You do, DONT Touch This Setting in FL Studio! FireWalk 2022-06-17 | There are many myths about FL Studio. There are also plenty of FL Studio mixing tips and tricks out there that people have published with the best intentions, but not all of them are great advice. Some could even completely mess up your mixing and mastering. One of those myths or tips and tricks regarding FL Studio has to do with the panning law utilized by FL Studio. FL Studio has two different panning laws that can be used. Triangular panning law and circular panning law. The panning law in FL Studio directly affects your mixing. Circular panning law is enabled by default. I've seen many recommend changing from one panning law to the other because it's supposed to make your fl studio projects sound better (better sound quality). Unfortunately, this is usually really bad advice, and in this video, I'll explain why you should never change from one panning law to another unless it's the very first thing you do in a new project before you start working on it. How to Use Kickstart 2 (Fl Studio Tutorial) FireWalk 2022-06-03 | In this kickstart 2 tutorial, I will show you how to use Kickstart 2 in FL Studio, but you can also use kickstart 2 in other daws such as Ableton, Logic, etc. In this video, I'll go through all the new functions and features in kickstart 2. Nicky Romero Kickstart by cableguys & Nicky Romero is one of the most widely used plugin for applying quick sidechaining among music producers. The new kickstart 2 plugin comes with the same easy-to-use interface and basic features as the first version, however, it also comes with some really welcomed upgrades which makes the plugin much more usable. One of my favorite new features in kickstart 2 is the new audio trigger feature. This allows you to sidechain based on the incoming audio signal. It now also supports midi triggering. The original kickstart plugin didn't have this functionality. Kickstart 2 also provides band split and the curves are now adjustable. All in all, this makes it much more usable for music production because you can tweak it to your needs, and because of the new audio triggering and midi triggering, you'll rarely need traditional sidechaining anymore. it's still not as adjustable as LFOtool, but that's not the point of this plugin. This is meant as a dedicated sidechain tool, and it's designed to be very quick and easy to use. This is one of the best and easiest to use sidechain plugins out there when it comes to applying quick volume ducking. It's also fairly inexpensive. A song will have different intensity in the drop compared to the breakdown, and you'll therefore typically want to mix your elements differently in these sections. There might be too little space in the mix during the drop, and not enough during the breakdown for example. It then won't make sense to mix and process your sounds exactly the same during these sections. By mixing and processing pads differently during the drop and the breakdown, for example, you can ensure that the drop sounds cleaner and more powerful. Many of these mixing tricks apply to other sounds too, including leads and vocals. Will there be any huge groundbreaking new features?The next major new version of FL Studio will be FL Studio version 21. It's reasonable to expect several big new features in FL Studio 21. Typically, Image-line has saved some of their biggest new features for their major releases. For example, FL Studio 12 was a huge upgrade compared to FL Studio 11, because we got the new vector graphics and much more. So what do we know so far about FL Studio 21? There's no public beta available yet, so nobody knows for sure. But, Image-Line has officially released a few teasers, showing some of the new features. Why I Cant Live Without This Awesome New Playlist Feature in FL Studio! FireWalk 2022-03-11 | In this video, I'm going to show you some extremely useful fl studio hacks, or tips and tricks with regard to the playlist in FL Studio 20. This feature was added a few versions ago so it's not brand new, still many don't know about this playlist feature. FL Studio actually allows you to use multiple playlists all at once, in the same project. This can be extremely useful in a variety of ways. Using multiple playlists allows you to have different versions of the same FLP project in one project in FL Studio. You could have an extended version, radio version, drop-in mix etc all in the same project. This also makes it much easier to make templates for example. if you ave a project you're very happy with, and you want to make a template from this project, you can simply make a new blank playlist, and then keep the original arrangement as a guide. That way, you can also easily go back into the original arrangement and copy elements from it and into the new one. This is a feature I'm using all the time myself, but I've noticed that many don't seem to be aware of this new feature in FL Studio. If you're a music producer looking for budget closed-back headphones for mixing, mastering, and music production then you might want to consider these. The AIAIAI TMA-2 Studio XE are professional closed-back headphones for studio use. Every music producer needs a pair of decent headphones in their home studio. What's different about these headphones is that they are modular, which means that you can replace the individual components. This is good for longevity and enables you to customize them for maximum comfort.If you're a music producer on a budget and looking for some good all-around headphones for your home studio, then you might want to consider the AIAIAI TMA-2 Studio XE. AIAIAI is a Danish company, most known for their modular DJ headphones. The TMA-2 Studio XE is the more affordable version of the TMA-2 Studio headphones. it ships with leather pads instead of the Alcantara ones, but because this is all modular, you can easily upgrade pads at a later time. These are not the flattest studio headphones I've tested, but they're not terribly unbalanced either. All in all the tonality is still quite good, and I believe these should work well for anyone who is on a budget, and want good quality and long-lasting studio headphones. FL Studio Audio Playback Tracker Out of Sync? - How to Fix! FireWalk 2022-02-11 | In this tutorial, I'm going to show you how to fix the audio playback tracker out of sync problem in FL Studio. When you play your project in FL Studio, the playlist playback position cursor will sometimes be out of sync with the audio. This can be quite annoying and makes it difficult to do surgical edits to audio clips and such. When the playback tracking is out of sync, the patterns and audio clips in the playlist will not align with the tracker cursor in the playlist when playing back your project, and that makes it very difficult to get everything aligned properly. The patterns and audio play in time, but what you hear isn't the same as what is shown visually. When the audio playback is out of sync, it makes it extremely difficult to visually get everything properly aligned in your project. In this video I will show you how to fix this problem.In the FL Studio Audio settings, there is an option for selecting playback tracking. You can select either driver, mixer or hybrid. When the playback tracking is out of sync, it's usually because the settings here is wrong. What is Dynamic Range in Music? - Dynamic Range Explained FireWalk 2022-01-28 | What is dynamic range in music? This video will explain what dynamic range in music is and why it is important. It is essential to understand dynamic range when mixing and mastering music. If you're a music producer, or just enjoy listening to music, you should know how dynamic range in music works. You have probably heard about the loudness war. This is closely related to dynamic range. Dynamic range in music is vital in order for music to sound crisp and punchy. When music is too compressed, the dynamic range is restricted, and that will cause the music to be quite tiresome to listen to. This is what the loudness war was all about, by constantly trying to make music louder, the dynamic range got more and more restricted, and this eventually caused the music to sound bad, distorted, and tiresome to listen to. In this video I will use FL Studio to show some examples on how dynamic range works in music, and how the loudness war affectsed music negatively. So, what is dynamic range in music? Dynamic range is basically the difference between the loudest and quietest elements in a song. This is important because our hearing works by this principle. It constantly separates loud and quiet elements, trying to do judge distances and such. If a track is too compressed, there's very little difference between loud and quiet elements, in other words, the dynamic range is restricted. Compressed music will tend to sound louder, and louder typically always sounds better to humans, but it is very important to find a good balance between dynamic range and loudness, or else the music will suffer from it. In order for some things to be perceived as loud, something else has to be quiet in comparison. Our hearing needs a frame of reference. This is why dynamic range is so important in music. If the dynamic range is too restricted, it simply won't work very well, and it will quickly become very tiresome to listen to. No System Sound When Using FL Studio? - Easy Fix! FireWalk 2022-01-14 | This tutorial will show you how to fix no sound problem in FL Studio. A common problem when using FL Studio is that you can't hear any system sound like YouTube, spotify etc while using FL Studio at the same time. This is because FL Studio uses an ASIO driver which takes complete control of your sound card. If you want to hear youtube and watch some music production tutorials for example, and use FL Studio at the same time then you'll have to change the ASIO device in the audio settings in FL Studio. That will fix the no sound problem. Note that this will also introduce more latency, so if you plan to record inside FL Studio then I recommend switching back to the ASIO driver that came with your sound card, or use ASIO4all. The FL Studio ASIO driver is a kind of hybrid driver that will allow you to hear sound from FL Studio and windows, YouTube etc at the same time. This can also be very useful if you want to screen capture FL Studio and record the audio too. If you try to screen capture FL Studio using the ASIO4all, there will be no sound. If you switch to the FL Studio ASIO driver then you can record the sound too. Problem solved. Some ASIO drivers that comes with your audio interface will allow you to hear the system sound and use FL Studio at the same time, however, it usually won't work if you try to screen capture FL Studio. For that you'll usually need to use the FL Studio ASIO driver, or there will be no sound.Alternatively, you can also use the "auto close" option to fix the no sound problem in FL Studio, but the audio will drop in and out constantly, which can be annoying, so the easiest way to fix this problem is to use the FL Studio ASIO driver. I'll show you what kind of equipment I use, and what I recommend using for a budget home recording studio when it comes to midi keyboards, audio interface, mixing headphones, microphones, mixer, acoustic panels, and the computer itself, etc. Your home recording studio is where the magic happens, and you'll have to try and make the most of what you've got. More often than not, the typical "bedroom" music producer mix their tracks in less than ideal environments. That doesn't mean that you can't make a great sounding mix in your home studio, it just means that you'll have to learn how to compensate for the acoustic characteristics of your home studio. Mixing and mastering can be done just about anywhere, as long as you know your room, and how music tends to sound in that room. Once you have a good grasp on how it sounds, and how all kinds of music translates to that room, then you can usually compensate for any issues and get a great sounding mix. This will usually be the case with most home studios.Of course, I always recommend getting up some acoustic panels and doing what you can to minimize standing sound waves and reverberation, etc. Because this will make a huge difference. How to Reset the Mixer In FL Studio 20 FireWalk 2021-12-10 | This tutorial will show you how to reset the mixer in FL Studio 20 as well as how to reset individual mixer channels in FL Studio 20. Any mixer channel can easily be reset to default. This includes all the effects, the routings, levels, and so on. You can just right-click any mixer track and reset it to default. Note that the routings must be reset separately, so two tasks need to be performed to fully reset a mixer track in FL Studio. You can of course also reset the whole mixer at once if you want. This tutorial will show you some helpful shortcuts that will make this easier to do. Note that in previous versions of FL Studio there's a bug that causes the send levels to remain even after you've reset the routing. This is a bug, so you'll have to reset the levels manually. In the newest version of FL Studio this should be fixed, so resetting the routing should then also reset the send levels in the mixer. Resetting the mixer can be useful if you've made some mistakes, and want to start over, or perhaps you want to create a template from an existing project. In any case, this makes resetting the mixer easy to do, as opposed to older versions of FL Studio where you had to reset every mixer track manually one by one. How to Fix Ground Loop Noise, Hiss, Buzz, & Hum (Simple & Cheap!) FireWalk 2021-12-03 | This video will show how to fix studio monitor ground loop noise, hiss, buzz, and hum in a cheap and simple way.Electrical noise from studio monitors and speakers is quite common in audio setups. This could sound like a buzzing noise, hiss, or computer noise where you can hear the computer working from your studio monitors. This is not ideal for music producers. Ground loop noise is very common in audio setups because your audio equipment will be linked together by signal cables, and the various equipment will also typically be plugged into multiple sockets. This creates multiple grounding points, which can create all kinds of ground loop noise. Studio monitor noise problems can be annoying, and in this video, I will present several solutions. There are many ways to fix ground loop noise, buzz, hiss, hum and so on. The options presented in this video is far better than typical ground loop isolator solutions. They can often affect sound quality negatively, while these solutions won't. Fixing studio monitor noise problems doesn't have to be expensive, but you'll have to pinpoint the cause of the noise problem first. So, how do you stop noise from studio monitors? Studio monitor noise problems can be caused by many things, so you need to be sure before you start buying anything. The type of noise will often give a clue as to what the cause might be. Hiss, Buzz, Hum, or electrical noise / computer noise are the most common problems, and the cause of these problems are usually the same. It's typically due to interference due to low-quality unbalanced signal cables (TRS or XLR), or a ground loop problem, either between your studio monitors themselves, or the monitors and the computer. Ground loop problems are also common when connecting electric guitars and such. I'll be providing some examples of the different types of studio monitor noise that are most typical in this video, in order to help identify the problem. This video is an updated version of my previous video about how to fix studio monitor noise problems, such as studio monitor hiss, studio monitor buzz, studio monitor hum, computer noise / electrical noise, and ground loop noise. I will show you various devices such as the ifi idefender+ and the ifi GND defender which are both efficient at removing ground loop noise and fixing the problem. How to Customize FL Studio 20 (User Interface) FireWalk 2021-11-26 | This tutorial will show you how to customize the graphical user interface in FL Studio 20. Changing the appearance of FL Studio is very easy to do and can help boost workflow. You can easily move buttons and menus around. You can also add or delete objects, change the background image, resize, and so on.Previously you could customize the look of FL Studio by loading custom skins and such. This was easy to do in FL Studio 11 and older versions, because back then FL Studio used bitmaps and such, so it was easy to simply swap those out. There were plenty of skins available for FL Studio back then. However, skins are no longer possible in FL Studio 20 and later, because they moved to vector graphics from that version onwards. In fact, it's not even legal to Image-Line has stated that in the future you will be able to fully customize the look of FL Studio to your liking. You can then change the appearance completely, like changing colors and so on. Perhaps it will then be possible to once again load custom skins for FL Studio. Until then, you'll have to settle for being able to rearrange the user interface itself, change the background image, and so on. Recovering Backup & Autosaved FLP Files in FL Studio 20 FireWalk 2021-11-19 | This tutorial will show you how to manage backups in FL Studio 20. It will show you how to change backup intervals, how to change the number of backup projects and how to find your backup and autosaved FLP files. Backup should be enabled by default in FL Studio, but not everyone has it enabled, or you might to change the backup interval, etc. If a project crashes in FL Studio then it's typically because a plugin crashed when the project opens or when it was saved. In that case, reverting to last backup will usually take care of the problem. FL Studio typically saves about 100 backup versions by default. Once that number is reached, it will start to overwrite previous FL Studio project files. You can set this to a higher number if you want to. Note that this will require more disk space. Needless to say, backup is extremely important. You don't want to lose your precious FL Studio FLP project files, so make sure to keep backup enabled. I also recommend that you backup your projects themselves on a separate disk as well, or in the cloud. Check out my other videos about this as well. The CORRECT Way to do Volume Automation in FL Studio! FireWalk 2021-11-12 | This tutorial will show you how to do volume automation in FL Studio 20. Volume automation is one of the most used and most important automation there is when it comes to mixing and mastering. There are many ways to add volume automation in FL Studio but some ways are more efficient than others. I often see people automating the volume fader in the mixer, which is a very quick and easy way to add volume automation in FL Studio. Unfortunately, this method also prevents you from mixing your project properly because the mixer faders won't be adjustable after the volume automation has been added.You can also automate volume in the channel rack, in the VST's, adding fruity balance, etc too, but it's actually easier to automate the send levels in the mixer itself instead. It's also more organized since you'll now be able to see what's happening in the mixer itself, without being prevented from using the mixer fader to adjust the volume later on. In this tutorial, I'm going to show you several ways to do volume automation in FL Studio, and I will also show you my own preferred way of doing it. How to Use The CURRENT Track in FL Studios mixer FireWalk 2021-11-05 | In this tutorial, I will explain what the "current track" in FL Studio is, and I will also show you how to use it. The "current track" in FL Studio has a very specific purpose in FL Studio and it's much more than just a meter. The current track in FL Studio is actually a utility track. It receives the input from whatever tracks are selected. This makes it ideal for visual plugins such as spectrum analyzers, tonal balance plugins, fruity wavecandy and so on. You can also use recording plugins such as Edison on the current track to quickly record the input from any selected track. Let's say you load a spectrum analyzer to the current (c) track in FL Studio. The spectrum analyzer will now display the spectrum on whatever track you select in the mixer. This is useful because by using the "current track" instead, you won't have to load the same analyzers on every single track in the mixer. Note that when you render out stems from FL Studio the Current track will also be rendered out, and in most cases, you can just delete it. How To Sidechain in FL Studio 20 (The Right Way!) FireWalk 2021-10-29 | This tutorial will show you how to sidechain in FL Studio 20. Sidechaining is one of the most important mixing tools available to you as a music producer. Sidechaining is essential to create space for your kick and bass in the mix. Without sidechaining, your mix will often end up sounding muddy and muffled. So what exactly is sidechaining? Sidechaining is basically volume ducking. It ensures that various elements in the mix duck in volume and gets out of the way so that the kick and bass can cut through the mix without problems. If you want to learn mixing and mastering, sidechaining is something you need to know how to use and set up, and in this video I will show you several different ways to set up and use sidechaining in FL Studio 20. The first method I will show you is how to set up and use old-school sidechain compression using a compressor. This is the correct way to use sidechaining, and it will work on anything, no matter what kind of kick pattern you use. I will also show you how to set up sidechaining using plugins such as LFOtool, grossbeat etc. These plugins basically emulate sidechaining by utilizing automated volume ducking. This works well as long as you use a standard four to the floor beat. However, it won't work on more advanced rhythms, for that you'll need real sidechaining with a compressor and a trigger. Sidechaining is relatively easy to set up and use in FL Studio, and this video will show you how to do it, as well as explain shortly what sidechaining is and why we use it. Note: I recommend that you use a dedicated sidechain trigger for your sidechaining, instead of the main kick. In that case, you need to make sure that the trigger pattern is an exact duplicate of the kick pattern at all times, or else the sidechaining won't match your main kick, which is the whole point. What is Latency in Music Production? Explained in 183 Seconds FireWalk 2021-10-22 | What is latency in music? In this video, I will explain what audio latency is and why it's important. As a music producer, you need to know what audio latency is because it will affect your recordings. In this video, I'll be explaining latency and how to fix latency in FL Studio 20, but this same principle will apply to all daws out there. When you add synths and processing to your sounds your computer's CPU will have to do more work, and this introduces more latency into the system. When it comes to audio and music production, latency is basically the time it takes from when you input a signal, like a midi keyboard, recording with a microphone or whatever, and until it emerges out from your speakers. This latency, which is basically the processing time of your computer, will introduce some lag into the system, and this can make it especially difficult to do live recording and such because it will mess up your accuracy and make everything get out of sync. A very fast computer will typically provide less latency than an older and slower computer. That said, there are many things you can do to reduce the latency of your system. You can adjust the buffer settings to reduce the audio latency in FL Studio, Ableton or any other daw out there. If it gets too low though, then your computer's CPU might not be able to cope and you'll get crackling sound, etc. It's therefore always a good idea to record early on before you add tons of CPU-hungry VST and effects. The performance monitor allows you to find out which plugins use the most CPU power in FL Studio. This can come in quite handy, especially if you're experiencing cracking sound and other performance-related problems in FL Studio. When you know exactly how much CPU each plugin consumes, you can then adapt your workflow to use more of the plugins that are not too hard on your CPU. Some plugins use far more CPU power than others. Just switching from One synth to another can often make a big difference in performance. The same is the case with effect plugins. They too will consume CPU power, so using plugins that are not too demanding on your CPU can make all the difference, especially if you use a lot of them on every single mixer track, and your computer is not very powerful. How to Delete Automation In FL Studio 20 (Permanently!) FireWalk 2021-10-01 | Did you delete some automation in FL Studio, but it keeps on working anyways? That's because the automation is not fully deleted. This tutorial will show you how to delete automation in FL Studio permanently. It can be difficult to completely delete automation clips and events in FL Studio due to the way this works. It's not enough to just delete an automation clip. Even if you do, the initialized controls will keep snapping back into place when you press play. In order to permanently delete automation in FL Studio, you have to delete the automation event itself from the project. To do that you have to go into the browser and then delete the automation there. This is actually the way FL Studio is intended to work and can be quite useful in some situations, but at the same time, this can be quite frustrating for people who are just starting out with FL Studio. They will typically try to delete the automation from both the playlist and the channel rack, but every time they press play the automation keeps working. If you have automated a knob or a fader, for example, it will snap back into place when you press play, because the automation is not really deleted. If you want to prevent the automation from coming back you need to make sure it's permanently removed. I'll be showing you how to use it in FL Studio, but the procedure will be more or less the same regardless of which DAW you are using.Unison Drum Monkey is a brand new plugin that allows you to quickly generate unique sounding drum loops in seconds. The factory library consists of more than 3000 percussion samples and there are trillions of possible combinations to try out. You can also import your own percussion samples, and edit the generated drum loops, or make your own unique drum loops from scratch. As a music producer, you always want to sound unique and stand out from everyone else, but it can be tedious to find percussion loops or drum loops that work perfectly in your project. You can of course make your own drum loops from scratch, but that's quite a time-consuming and tedious task, and when you produce music you need to work quickly if you want to finish a project before ear fatigue kicks in. The unison drum monkey is not a revolutionary plugin that does anything magical. You can do pretty much the same thing manually of course. The great thing about it is that it can be a huge time saver, allowing you to work much faster. It can also help boost creativity. I've found that it's a great way to come up with unique-sounding percussion that I would otherwise not have considered. The Unison drum monkey plugin generates unique percussion and drum loops based on the genre you set. There are many genres available, and it will always automatically sync to your project tempo. iFi IDefender+ Review - Will It Fix My Studio Monitor Ground Loop Noise Problem? FireWalk 2021-09-17 | This is a review of the iFi iDefender+ ground loop breaker. This is a USB 3.0 Ground Loop breaker that works with all USB-powered audio interfaces and can stop studio monitor noise problems related to ground loops, by breaking the loop and providing the audio interface with power from an independent source instead. Studio monitor noise and noise in audio setups are very common. The noise will often be buzz, hiss, and other electrical noise coming out of your studio monitors. It can also be computer noise, where you can kind of hear the computer working. Needless to say, there can be many causes of studio monitor noise, and in this video, I'll explain the most common reasons so that you'll know if the iFi iDefender+ will work for you or not. This will only work for USB-powered audio interfaces, which most interfaces are these days. However, if you have a firewire audio interface or one with an external 12v power supply, then this will most likely not work, so keep that in mind. Oftentimes, studio monitor noise is a result of ground loops originating in the monitor itself, or as a result of unbalanced signal cables, so you will have to do some troubleshooting to figure out the nature of your ground loop problem before you go ahead and buy anything. Mastering Explained - What is Mastering in Music? FireWalk 2021-09-10 | What is mastering in music? How do you master a song? This video will explain what mastering is and how it's used in music. We will look at the difference between mixing and mastering, and how the mastering chain is built up when mastering music.In this video, we will show a mastering chain inside FL Studio, but the same mastering techniques can be used for any DAW. I will show you some quick examples of how to master a song using EQ, compression, saturation, stereo widening, and so on.Mastering is the final step for any music producer. When a track is mixed down properly, it should be 99% finished. Mastering is the very last step of the process. Mastering will ensure that the song is brought up to commercial levels and that any problem frequencies and such are fixed. Mastering can fix certain problems in a mix, but it's not intended as a tool to fix a broken mix. That's not what mastering is about. Mastering is all about polishing the final mix. If your mix does not sound good before mastering, then mastering will not be able to save it. You should make sure that your mix is sounding as good as possible before mastering your song. FL Studio CPU meter Explained (Its NOT what you think it is!) FireWalk 2021-08-27 | This video will explain how the CPU meter in FL Studio works. There are many differences between the FL Studio CPU meter and the way task manager in windows shows the CPU usage. It's actually not the same thing at all. The CPU meter in FL Studio actually shows the CPU usage with regard to filling the audio buffer, which is the most important thing when it comes to audio production because you need to be able to process all the sounds in real-time. If one of the cores in the CPU is overloaded, it can no longer process the audio in real-time, and you'll experience crackling and sound distortion in FL Studio. In other words: The CPU meter shows your computer's ability to process audio in real-time, which is the only thing that really matters when it comes to music production. This video will give you a few examples showing how this audio processing works, making it easier to understand. If you already have distorted sound, crackling sound or performance problems in FL Studio then your CPU is most likely overloaded already. In that case, you'll have to start optimizing your project and the settings in FL Studio in order to get better CPU performance. I have another video showing how to do this as well. Copying Effects Between Mixer Tracks In FL Studio 20 FireWalk 2021-08-20 | This FL Studio beginner tutorial will show you how to copy an effect from one mixer track to another in FL Studio 20. It will also show you how to copy multiple mixer effects at once. Copying mixer effects between tracks in FL Studio is easy. This can be particularly useful for effects that you use a lot, such as EQ, delay, reverb, and so on. This way, you can quickly copy the effect from one mixer track to several others, and then make quick tweaks to make them fit the various sounds. This will allow you to work faster in FL Studio. You can copy effects one by one from one track to the other, or copy all the effects from one track to another. When you copy a mixer effect from one mixer track to another in FL Studio, all the settings in that plugin will be preserved. This is why it is such a great workflow booster. You don't have to make the same settings every time, instead, you can just copy the effect instantly to various mixer tracks. Your Studio monitor noise problem is most likely caused by a ground loop or electrical interference.Ground loops and electrical noise are a major cause of noise in audio setups, resulting in hiss, hum and buzz from studio monitors. This can be really annoying if you're a music producer and need to have a quiet mixing environment. In this video, I will show you the most common reasons for studio monitor noise problems, and how to stop the noise. Fixing studio monitor noise problems doesn't have to be expensive, but you'll have to be able to identify the exact cause of the noise first. Yamaha HS8 VS Adam Audio T8V - Which One Should You Buy? FireWalk 2021-06-18 | Are you looking for the best budget studio monitor for your home studio? In this video, I will be comparing and reviewing the Yamaha HS8 and the Adam Audio T8V active studio monitors to see which ones are best. Should you buy the Yamaha HS8 or the Adam Audio T8V? Both of these are active 8" studio monitors, and they are both quite powerful. The specifications are also very similar, but there are some subtle differences here. Both the HS8 and the T8V monitors are among the most popular studio monitors in the budget monitor segment right now, and I've had a lot of requests to do a comparison video between these two studio monitors. Choosing a studio monitor for your home recording studio is perhaps one of the most important decisions you'll make, so it's important that you end up with a monitor that works well for you, and in your particular home studio. Every room is different, and choosing the right studio monitors is important in order for your mix to be as good as possible. Both these studio monitors are great for EDM and bass-heavy music in general simply because the abundance of power and the large cones provide better low-end extension, which makes it easier to mix bass-heavy music. But they also provide great clarity, so these should work well for most people. Mixing and mastering is not easy, but the right equipment can help you make better decisions. If you have a room that's large enough, then I believe that 8" monitors are the best compromise, since it delivers a much more solid low-end response than smaller monitors are capable of. Note that if you have a small room though, then smaller studio monitors will probably be a safer bet, like the HS5 or HS7 / T5v or T7V. How To Fix Latency Issues In FL Studio 20 In less Than 60 Seconds FireWalk 2021-04-30 | This tutorial will show you how to fix latency Issues and problems related to latency in FL Studio 20 by adjusting the ASIO Buffer size (Audio buffer). Typical latency issues are recordings that are out of sync. This could be audio recordings or recorded midi that don't show up properly aligned on the FL Studio piano roll grid. When recording in FL Studio, it's important to record with low latency to prevent issues and problems. The most common reason for latency issues in FL Studio is the ASIO buffer size. When recording, you need to make sure that the ASIO buffer is not too high. Higher ASIO Buffer is good if you are experiencing performance issues, like crackling sound, etc. It can help your CPU cope more easily, but this is not ideal for recording, so you might want to reduce the ASIO buffer before you start to record in FL Studio. Also, make sure to use the correct ASIO driver in FL Studio. I recommend always using the one that comes with your sound card, because it will usually provide the lowest latency possible. However, if you need to also have system sounds simultaneously, I recommend using the FL Studio ASIO, which is a kind of hybrid ASIO driver. Most external audio interfaces provide ASIO drivers that allow you to also hear the system sound though. How to Make Trance Music (James Dymond Style Bass & Percussion Tutorial) FireWalk 2021-04-16 | In this tutorial, I will show you how to make trance music like James Dymond. l will show you how to make a trance bassline and percussion, how to mix, and so on. Making a trance baseline can be difficult, but in this tutorial, I'll walk you through the entire process, including mixing, layering, midi, and so on, step by step. Uplifting trance music tends to have rolling basslines and nice warm sub bass. It's all about layering and finding the right bass sounds in the first place. When layering trance bass, the various bass sounds needs to sound like one single rolling trance bassline in order to get that nice and tight rolling bass sound that you typically hear in trance music. Trance bass is one of the most difficult things to get right when you want to make trance music, so hopefully, this tutorial will help you get your trance bass to sit perfectly in your mix. In this trance music tutorial, I'm using FL Studio 20, but these techniques can be applied to all DAWs, such as Ableton, Cubase, Studio one, and so on.In this trance bass tutorial, I'll cover everything from the midi itself, bass layering, mixing, and so on, so make sure to watch the entire video. There are many ways to make trance basslines, and this is just one example, showing a typical James Dymond-style rolling uplifting trance bassline. I've had many requests to make a video about how to make trance like Armin van Buuren and so on. I have other videos showing other more commonly used trance basslines too, like my "the three most used trance basslines" video. After watching this tutorial you should be able to get started with a trance bass and intro. Pay extra attention to the mixing and the effects used.
