Don P from the Atlanta Culture podcast pulls up on Ray Daniels to answer for his Jermaine Dupri comments, argue Andre 3000 over Jay-Z, and explain why he thinks the South is quietly losing its run. Mickey Fat and Silk So Smart push back the whole way.
Don P makes the case that Andre 3000 is Atlanta's Michael Jordan - Tri-Cities High to Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, ATLiens, Aquemini with Raekwon and Slick Rick, Stankonia, and the Grammy stage with Big Boi. Mickey Fat counts it back: 119 rap verses, Dre rapping less by Aquemini and The Love Below, and not one solo Andre song with two verses. Ray says Big Boi is nobody's Scottie Pippen, and they argue Future, Hakeem Olajuwon and Scarface.
Then the Jermaine Dupri smoke. Don P breaks down the Varsity joke that started it, why Welcome to Atlanta was Jermaine and Ludacris making a record for outsiders while T.I. made one for the trenches, and how David Banner called to say if JD had gone hood we would have called him fake. Ray argues Jermaine got more flowers this year because Don P said it out loud - PSC and T.I. shot in front of the Varsity.
On Jay-Z: Future's old Steve Stoute comment that Jay was a late bloomer, the fact that Jay is older than Pac and Biggie, the afro and Beyonce's hair product, Charli Baltimore, and Biggie wanting a triple album to get off Bad Boy.
