AI music, Suno AI, jazz, big band arranging, AI music tools, music workflow, and creativity are all hot topics right now — especially when people say AI can’t swing. There’s a lot of skepticism around AI music tools — and honestly, that skepticism is understandable.
In this video, I’m not asking you to like AI or agree with me.
I’m simply showing you what actually happens when an AI tool is used responsibly by someone who already writes music.
Everything you hear starts with a song I wrote and recorded myself. The melody, harmony, and structure are mine. I then upload that track into Suno and explore how different big band arranging styles reinterpret the same musical material.
Suno isn’t writing the song.
It isn’t copying existing music.
It’s generating arrangement ideas based on musical decisions I already made.
Using Suno’s Advanced Features, I control how closely the output follows my original track and how much stylistic influence is applied. This allows for fast experimentation — similar to asking, “What would this sound like arranged in a Basie style?” or “How would Ellington approach this?”
You’ll hear the same piece interpreted through several classic big band perspectives, including:

This video also addresses common concerns around ownership and originality. When the source material is yours, AI becomes a tool for exploration and workflow — not a replacement for musicianship and not a shortcut around creativity.
